Galley kitchen remodel: Better doesn’t have to mean bigger

Though their old galley kitchen was dark and narrow, John Lee and Candice Cain liked it. They just wanted the room -- part of a 1916 Echo Park Craftsman rumored to be the getaway for a silent film star during the 1920s -- to function better.

Cain and Lee, shown above in a ‘before’ photo, knew that bigger would not necessarily be better. They wanted to optimize what they already had and make the galley kitchen work better -- as a galley kitchen.
