The Deal: Stacking chairs 30% to 40% off, just in time for holiday parties

Ring Armchairs

Some people just can't handle folding chairs: the auditorium looks, the pinching of kids' fingers. Even if the chairs are as groovy and colorful as the Pantone ones we recently found, some people just aren't interested.

Fine. If you need extra seating for the holidays, how about stackable chairs? We've found great looking ones on sale, some of which can be used outside after the holidays. At Thema, an Italian showroom at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, three chairs designed by Philippe Starck for manufacturer Driade are 40% off through Dec. 17. The Ring chair, above, made with a polypropylene base and polycarbonate arms and back, is the priciest, marked down from $538 to $323.

Starck The slatted Pipe chair, a 2008 design in matte plastic, right, is reduced from $330 to $198.

The Soft Egg chair, far right, normally sells for $274 but is $164 during the sale.

Check with Thema for color and stock availability.

Willing to sacrifice a designer name for a lower price? The Stacking Chair Store has options that can be used for alfresco dining but are not recommended to be left outdoors.

The modern Y-back Truss chair, below left, is marked down 30% to $72.54. The laser-cut plastic design has chrome legs. Shipping is $12.80.

The online retailer also offers a very cool Hollywood Regency update on the classic bamboo ballroom chair in clear, shatter-resistant polycarbonate. The Crystal Charivari chair, below right, is also reduced 30% to $178 with free shipping.
