Sunday: The Pasadena Museum of California Art’s fourth California Design Biennial, Action/Reaction will highlight works by designers who are responding to current economic, political, and environmental challenges. The exhibition will feature separate curator for each design category: industrial design, fashion, graphic, transportation and architecture. Sunday: The new L.A. Flea Market will include 400 vendors, gourmet food trucks, live entertainment and rides for children. General admission with parking is $5 and allows admission from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; early-bird tickets is $10 and allows admission at 7 a.m. Market remains open until 5 p.m. VIP tickets, $25, will include early admission, valet parking and carryout service. Kids younger than 12 get in free.

Brown Bag Tuesdays: The Gamble House, the Arts and Crafts landmark designed by Charles and Henry Greene, continues a weekly lunch program. Visitors are invited to picnic on the rear lawn or terrace of the 1908 estate between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each Tuesday. Box Collective: A newly formed group of 12 Los Angeles-based furniture designers and makers committed to environmentally-conscious design and production show their latest works at a Chinatown gallery through Aug. 29.
