If all the recent coverage of the 2010 Milan furniture fair by my colleague Craig Nakano has you salivating for Italian design, here’s some encouraging news: Good deals come to those who wait.

Although the recently unveiled 2010 designs won’t start hitting our shores until late this summer, some of last year’s debuts are already being marked down. At the Diva Furniture group’s Cassina store, floor samples from the 2009 Future Poetry collection by super-minimalist Piero Lissoni are reduced by 40% through mid-May.

The collection includes a sofa, storage units, a dining table and the Eve chair, above. With a pared-down yet contoured-for-comfort seat suspended between a frame made of two bevel-edged rectangles, the design is a visual and physical lightweight. The aluminum-frame model, once priced at $1,925 is now $1,144; the black stained ash wood version, formerly $2,135 is now $1,281.
