Tax return got you down? More then 60 stores located along Santa Monica’s tony Montana Avenue will lighten your load on Saturday with a “Tax-Free’ shopping day – another creative marketing ploy that might keep consumer spending up after four months of gains.

Participating home and antique stores include The Blue House, Hemisphere, Rosemarie McCaffrey Antiques, Sofa U Love, The Quilted Monkey and Stephanie Grace. For a detailed list of participating merchants, including apparel stores, jewelers, florists and restaurants, click here.

While 9.75% off may not sound like a huge reduction, imagine the money you’d save on the custom-made, king-size, wrought iron four-poster bed shown above from Ponte Vecchio, priced at $8,700. Even your accountant would be impressed.
