Milan furniture show looks past recession

Members of the furniture-world royalty are in Milan this week for the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, also known as the Milan furniture fair. They are premiering their 2010 collections, and hoping that the recession is fading into the background. We’re there, looking at what’s lovely and not, and what’s ahead.

Philippe Starck was there, of course. He came to the Kartell booth (pictured, top left), where his Magic Hole chair and sofa (below) were being shown.

Missoni’s prints that emulate digitized art continue, but these looks (pictured below) are combined with new designs devoted to busy florals.
