The Deal: American Modern chaise 50% off <br> at Design Within Reach’s semiannual sale

An updated version of George Nelson’s iconic 1948 daybed is among the many discounted items at Design Within Reach’s semiannual sale.
The American Modern Chaise has clean lines and a simple maple frame. The bolster can be removed to use the full 75-inch length for sleeping, or an additional arm with bolster (sold separately for $225, down from $450) can be added to give the chaise more of a couch look. The cushions are upholstered in Maharam Messenger fabric made from 78% post-industrial recycled polyester, 15% polyester and 7% nylon -- and the covers come off for cleaning.
Normally $1,800, the chaise is now on sale for $900 through Tuesday. A similar Nelson-inspired American Modern Daybed -- with two cushions on the back -- is also 50% off ($1,050, down from $2,100). In addition, Design Within Reach is offering free ‘White Glove’ delivery service (a savings of $299) to those who tally up $2,000.
