The Deal: Thanksgiving linens, including the kids table

This simple white tablecloth from Crate & Barrel, above left, is perfect for Thanksgiving.

Elegant and affordable even before it went on sale, the restaurant-style tablecloth is 100% cotton and machine washable. It comes in several sizes ranging from 60 inches square ($17.95, normally $21.95), 90 inches round ($31.95, normally $39.95) to 60 by 144 inches ($34.95, regularly $42.95). Napkins, regularly $3.95 each are now $2.95.

A possible deal breaker? Some online buyers indicate these linens must be ironed. But to me, ironing napkins for Thanksgiving is a lot like polishing your grandmother’s sterling silver flatware: it’s OK to do it once a year.
