The Deal: Affordable, fun coat racks on Etsy

Tired of tripping over backpacks and football pads whenever I entered the house, I went searching for a durable, wall-mounted coat rack that was affordable and funky. I knew what I didn’t want -- a dull, old-school coat stand that invariably would tip over from the weight of lunchboxes and my son’s Riddell helmet.

The distinctive coat racks pictured here from the artist collective the Crosbie are just what I wanted. With its colorful graphic prints and unusual hardware, the collection is available on Etsy. Designs are reasonably priced, ranging from $20 for a single hook to $65 for a multiple-hook rack. (Single hooks also can be mixed and matched to create a more custom look.)

The Crosbie designers welcome unusual requests and can customize size, metal hook components and colors. Feel free to send them a paint chip. Mounting hardware is not provided, but plastic drywall anchors or molly bolts do the trick. And if these racks can’t hold a helmet? I won’t complain.
