The Deal: Design Within Reach’s Dash table, 50% off

If you’ve ever pushed or pulled the end of a cumbersome extension table, you will appreciate the smooth steel cable system on the Dash extension table. Discontinued at Design Within Reach, the table can expand from 71 to 90 inches, and it has a clever ‘self-storing butterfly’ design that hides the leaf. Originally $2,900, the table is now on sale for $1,450 until ‘they’re all gone,’ a spokeswoman for DWR said. As of Sept. 1, the remaining stock consisted of 24 tables with an oak finish and five with a wenge-stained finish.

Although DWR is offering free standard shipping -- a savings of $290 -- on this item, I should point out that the company strongly recommends white-glove delivery service ($449) because of the table’s size, weight and packaging.
