That's so 'Mad Men': Draper bed by Club Furniture

CB2 may have beat them to the punch with the Draper sofa, but the folks at Club Furniture win bragging rights for "Mad Men" authenticity. Whereas CB2's sofa looks nothing like the real brocade sectional sofa that Don Draper slept on last season, Club Furniture's Draper bed, above left, is a clone of the scallop-edged, button-tufted headboard that Don's wife, Betty, is pictured in, above right.

The "Mad Men" piece was designed by set decorator Amy Wells and produced in the upholstery department of Warner Bros. studios. The Club Furniture version is hand-crafted in North Carolina with prices running from about $1,100 for a full size to about $1,350 for a California or standard king. A platform bed version with upholstered side rails costs $400 to $700 more.

Unfortunately, the 75 fabric options are duller than the Drapers' dishwater. The sky blue twill shown here is as close as you'll get to the vintage aquamarine cotton velveteen that Wells used, but the company will work with fabric you provide. (A king headboard requires 20 yards or five leather hides. Call for a quote; if you have a trustworthy upholsterer with a good eye for details, you might be able to save some bucks by shopping locally.) Wells suggests Diamond Foam & Fabric or F & S Fabrics in Los Angeles for material. "If they don't have what you want," she adds, "they know how to get it."
