The Deal: Emmerson Troop cuts you a break on pricey 1950s and `60s designs

Emmerson Troop, the high-end midcentury design store, is having what they call a "serious sale" through Oct. 17. How serious? Well, framed vintage photos of John LennonMarlon Brando and Italian film star Elsa Martinelli are knocked down from $1,200 to a more affordable $400. The Venini pitcher and 12-piece glass set shown here, originally $3,500, is now $1,600. That's more than 50% off, but the 1960s spiral chandelier, in the style of Verner Panton, has been marked down just a bit more than 20%, from $1,900 to $1,500. Prices for other items in the sale, spiral into wait-that's-my-monthly-mortgage-payment territory. Online ordering is not available, so head over to 8111 Beverly Blvd. or call (323) 653-9763 to purchase by phone.
