Frank Bros., the store that changed the way California decorated

The jaunty guy on the left in the photo is Ron Frank, son of one of the two co-founders of famed Long Beach furniture company Frank Bros. Next to him is his uncle, Ed Frank.

Frank Bros. doesn’t exist anymore, but here’s why they are important (and why the Getty recently accepted the company’s archives): In the two decades after World War II, Frank Bros. furniture was called upon to furnish the Case Study houses -- you know, those homes built by Charles and Ray Eames, Richard Neutra and Pierre Koenig. Not too shabby!
