Too cool for back-to-school, Part III: Blue jeans and khakis that didn’t quite make it to a clothes hook or hamper will pretty much disappear on these all-wool cut-pile rugs. PB Teen, the adolescent offspring of Pottery Barn, features them (as well as camouflage bedding) prominently in its boys department. Not into G.I. Joe? No matter. Consider them much more affordable abstract patterns in the manner of Modernist custom carpet maker Edward Fields. Having enjoyed a PB Teen rug with an enlarged wood grain pattern in my TV room for a few years now, I can attest to their good bang-for-buck value, especially now that they’re on sale. But hup-to-it: They are already sold out of most sizes. Bathroom-friendly 3-by-5 foot rugs in navy and brown are reduced from $129 to $89.99. An 8-by-10-foot version in blue only is marked down from $599 to $449.99.
