Sale alert: At L.A. store Period, designer furniture 40% off

Today’s deal: Pedigree furnishings including a Dorothy Draper dining table and chairs and a John Van Koert desk made for Drexel are on sale at the Los Angeles store Period through Aug. 1. Other stylish furnishings from the 1930s through ‘50s will be discounted too.

‘I need to move this stuff so I can put new things in the showroom,’ store owner Jim Turner says.

The Period sale includes this 1940s 42-inch-diameter dining table by legendary designer Dorothy Draper. With two leaves and four refurbished chairs, the set -- originally $9,500 is now $5,700.


Above, this refurbished 1940s walnut desk by John Van Koert for Drexel, originally $3,600, has been reduced to $2,160.

Left, a vintage silver-painted dining chair has laser-etched velvet butterfly upholstery. A set of four, originally $4,400, has been reduced to $2,640.

Below: A gray-and-cream 1940s hand-painted wood coffee table (40 inches wide), originally $1,250, is now $750.

A pair of Blackamoor midcentury-style sconces (29 inches tall and 9 inches wide), originally $1,400, is now $840.
