Bidding has just concluded on 21 items of Michael Jackson memorabilia -- including signed record albums and posters, handwritten notes, costumes and two original artworks by the late superstar -- at Julien’s Auctions’summer sale at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.

Consigned by music producer David Gest before Jackson’s death, the items were conservatively estimated in the auction catalog to sell for $10,500.

The first two items on the block -- a promotional display for a 1973 Jackson 5 LP and an autographed copy of the J5 soundtrack to the TV special ‘Going’ Back to Indiana’ -- brought in $27,500.

The total take for the 21 items was a little more than $184,000 (not including 20% buyers’ premiums).

Among the highlights: This original acrylic-on-cardboard painting, date unknown, of Mickey Mouse conducting Pluto singing, 25.5 by 19.5 inches, signed ‘Mike Jackson’ in white paint. Sale price: $20,000.

More after the jump

A shirt that the King of Pop wore during the Jacksons’ 1984 Victory tour inspired prolonged and feverish bidding. Lined with white spandex, the shirt, designed by Bill Whitten, is completely covered in pearls and Swarovski crystals.

Estimated to sell for between $1,000 and $1,500.

It sold for $42,000.

A pencil sketch of a boy by Michael Jackson reveals the singer’s artistic hand.

The winning bid for the drawing: $16,000.

[Note: An earlier post incorrectly identified the signature on the painting at the top of this post as ‘Mike Johnson.’ It has been corrected to read ‘Mike Jackson,’ which is visible in the photograph.]
