In my opinion, the ideal children’s garden should be just a little bit spooky -- more ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ than the Oz part of ‘The Wizard of the Oz.’ And so I love this photo shoot of actress Amy Brenneman’s children’s garden, which she tucked into a shady and over-irrigated back corner of her yard in the San Fernando Valley. Whether it is thanks to the gray weather, the designer (Anne Phillips of Go Green Gardeners), or the twisted melaleuca tree that shadows the garden, the photos make the space feel childlike in a Grimm’s fairy tale kind of way that one rarely sees in Southern California.
