Darwyn Cooke’s ‘The Hunter’ looks for revenge on iPad

I don’t have an iPad yet, but I’m intrigued to see how digital comics look on it. The images of comics look great when lighted from behind (which is one of the reason I love running big, classic art on this blog), and the notion of the handheld iPad’s full screen filled with some incandescent graphic storytelling is especially appealing to me. And now I know the first comics title I will download if I finally do get that iPad: IDW Publishing has just announced that one of their signature releases, ‘The Hunter,’ is now the company’s first original graphic novel to be available on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch and through ‘IDW Comics’ at the App Store.

After readers have download the free IDW Comics app, each chapter of ‘The Hunter’ can be purchased for $1.99, and the company promises that ‘the IDW application offers readers the highest-quality viewing experience, with a full-page display that showcases the eye-catching art and vivid story of this classic crime character.’ I’d love to hear some reviews from readers on this one -- I thought ‘The Hunter’ was absolutely outstanding on the page, and its art seems to lend itself to this new medium.
