Writer-director David S. Goyer, best known for his work on the ‘Blade’ and ‘Batman’ franchises, is no stranger to Comic-Con. The genre fanatic, who even spent a four-year stint working at DC Comics, will be one of the 125,000 or so heading down to San Diego to geek out on the scene and other assorted cool stuff. Here is the first of several posts he will be sending to Hero Complex during the convention:

Wednesday, July 22, 5 p.m.

We are in the middle of shooting Day 7 of Episode 2 of ‘FlashForward,’ which I’m directing. And we just finished editing together a special introduction and montage piece for Comic-Con.

We wanted to throw in a couple of treats specially designed for the Comic-Con audience, but it’s been difficult fitting it into our already packed schedule. I wanted to arrange an extra special surprise and bring a kangaroo onto stage during our Q & A session. Why, you might ask. Because the kangaroo appears in our pilot and I wanted to introduce it along with the rest of our cast. ABC was on board -- but somewhere along the way there was an issue with having a live animal in the convention center.

The crazy thing is that tomorrow night we will finish filming about 3 a.m. So I will get in a car and drive down to Comic-Con, get a few hours of sleep and a shower before heading over.

I’m hoping to find a little time there to actually walk the floor and buy some comics and art. You never know what you’re going to run into. Two years ago, I ran into a woman dressed in a Cat Woman outfit who tried to hump my leg. True story. -- David Goyer
