Stargate, just coasting

I was just thinking: There’s never been a better time to be a geek. Film, television, video games, the Internet -- all of it is tilting in the direction of the fanboy universe. And then there’s all the merch -- like Jack Nicholson as the Joker, I find myself marveling at all ‘those wonderful toys!’ The marketplace is chock full of sublime (and strange) gadgets, totems and toys for those of us who speak geek. Here’s a new one that caught my eye because it’s stealthy -- ‘civilians’ will see it sitting in your house and never suspect that it’s actually a fanboy tchochki. It may look like something crafted by techno-minded artisan in Santa Fe but, no, it’s actually a ‘Stargate’ coaster, of course! It was cooked up the folks at Quantum Mechanix (the same team that came up with those greatBattlestar Galactica’ propaganda posters) and you should wander around their website if you never have, you’ll see some pretty cool stuff. The coasters (sold in sets of four for $30) are right here.
