First Look: New "Watchmen" poster

08:55 PM PT, Nov 10 2008

EXCLUSIVE

We're fired up here at Hero Complex to bring you the first look at this new poster for Zack Snyder's "Watchmen," which is nothing less than the most eagerly anticipated film of 2009.

This image shows Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the battle-hardened Edward Blake, a.k.a the Comedian, the leering and sadistic superhero who reflects the darkening spirit of the country around him in this epic film, which adapts the landmark graphic novel by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons.

Check back tomorrow, we'll have some more "Watchmen" images courtesy of Warner Bros.

Nice poster. Has a certain blasé feel toward war and use of force I'd expect from the character. I still have the three promotional posters for the graphic novel. The images summed up the tone of the series and sold it to me. I guess they didn't want people to make comparisons to the comic by not using the original designs. That or the image of the Comedian about to snipe a South American politician is a little to controversial for mainstream audiences.

Hey CJ, they actually did a series of posters that were based on the old graphic novel promos. And yes, there is one of the Comedian preparing to assassinate the politician. They're floating around on the web in various places, but here's a link to one site with them. They were first displayed at Comic-Con I believe.

Slick poster; great statement about the character. However, wouldn't he have to hold down the 'clutch' on the flame thrower in order for it to be shooting flame? Check out his right hand.... Not having had too much experience with such things, I couldn't say, but it seems like his right hand should be cranking that clutch down.

I can't wait until Wal-Mart sues, thinking that the smiley face is copyrighted by them. And then sues for defamation over the bleeding version. ;)

I think the smiley face was around long before Wal-Mart

This poster is EVER so sexy.
