'Hero Complex' flies into the funny pages
I got an e-mail from Guy Endore-Kaiser, one-half of the cartoonist team behind "Brevity," the profoundly loopy one-panel comics strip that runs in more than 130 newspapers in the U.S. and Canada. The e-mail had a short message -- "FYI, this is you" -- and the panel above, which published yesterday. I'm speechless. How many people make it into the comics? Move over Marmaduke!
How did this happen? I had a delightful lunch with Endore-Kaiser and his partner in crime, Rodd Perry, over at the Paramount lot earlier this year and had a great interview with them about their unexpected career path and the grueling nature of their relentless deadlines. They mentioned then that they wanted a picture of me to hatch a secret plan. And here it is ...
Anyway, I'll be posting that interview right here this weekend. Until then, see you in the funny pages...
