First look: 'Star Trek' images hit the web

03:42 PM PT, Oct 15 2008

Startrekewcoverfloct01_2 Preliminary images of Zachary Quinto as Spock and Chris Pine as a young James T. Kirk are cropping up all over the Internet. JoBlo, Ain't It Cool News and Trekmovie.com are all talking about the new Entertainment Weekly cover and spread that's been announced.

Exclusive movie images were also given out to five sites. Five sites OTHER than Hero Complex, but you can't win 'em all.  The UGO movie blog is one of them, touting the photos and their happiness about getting them.

With the back-and-forth between Shatner and J.J. Abrams and Sulu getting officially hitched, the "Star Trek" world hasn't been out of the media, but these are some of the first images we've gotten to see of the Trek babies pre their "final frontier" days.

How Dare They! Alas, Stupidity is like the Universe ever expanding. "I Remember" (Fellini's Amarcord 1973) Watching and Raving the next day with my nerd friends, I thought and still do that program was more momentous than the Beatles Debut on the Ed Sullivan Show in 64'. Cease and desist... has creativity completely vaporized in the 21st century. Yeah... boring is the new Buzz, we can do it better... forget the Classics not relevant... If only they burned the Originals... guess it won't make a difference. If they only had a brain.

Zach with no brows? Swoon! Zach with brows? Swoon!

Chris Pine? Drool! Karl Urban? Smokin'! John Cho? Adorable! Anton Yelchin? Cute! Simon Pegg? Funny = Sexy!

Finally, a movie made for geek girls everywhere! Well, you know, outside of 300 loin-clothed hunks...

Bad enough you're stealing old tunes...Get a life and stop stealing old shows

I am happy to see the New Picks for Star Trek. They fit the picture perfect. I grew up watching the delightful series... I am soon going to have a baby and would love to have him grow up doing the same. Living the fantasy that cld be a reality someday. Especially the energizing part... where u get energized from one planet to another. I find that so cool!!!
Good Luck!

Finally! Yesterday was like Christmas, with so many killer photos -- this movie looks amazing. Pine really seems to have nailed Kirk, and the entire cast looks great. May 2009 cannot come soon enough. I'll be snapping up a copy of EW asap.

Growing up, Geoff Boucher always wanted to be a mild-mannered reporter working for a major metropolitan newspaper....or maybe a wookiee. He came to the Los Angeles Times in 1991 and, after years covering crime and local politics, he switched to the Hollywood beat covering film and music. Now he's the paper's go-to geek.
