Comic-Con: Video - Allison Mack, and is "Smallville" still super?
"Smallville" is one of the shows that, along with "7th Heaven" and "Buffy," helped define the WB early on.
The pop culture fervor surrounding the show has mellowed, but turnout from "Smallville" fans still caused the third biggest room at Comic-Con to overflow.
Justin Hartley, who portrays Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow, was introduced as a recurring main character this season. He and Allison Mack received the bulk of the attention, though new season actors Sam Witwer (Davis Bloome/Doomsday) and Cassidy Freeman (Tess Mercer) were also involved.
The crowd was fed a teaser sampler for the upcoming season, with guest stars galore and cheers for Green Arrow's appearance. Speaking of guest stars, it was let out of the bag that incredibly popular comic book writer Geoff Johns would be writing an episode and would be introducing the Legion of Super Heroes in the show.
The practice of asking for a panelists' name placard was in full swing as four of the panelists were asked to give them away (and sign them) during the Q&A session (moderated by executive producer Jeph Loeb).
The talk was mostly of spinoffs, a pretty sure sign that not only were fans expecting the series to end soon, but were looking towards other storylines to explore. Green Arrow's possible show was a definite topic of interest.
The Chloe Chronicles webisodes are still going on, so along with her art interests and the show, Allison Mack (Chloe) is pretty busy. It was revealed that she'd like to direct an episode of the show, and though she received a handshake onstage, the deal may still be in the works.

I'll admit I'm excited to see the Legion of Super-Heroes appearance, but this show should have ended two seasons ago (if not sooner).

Haha. I was the person to ask the question of Allison Mack directing an episode of Smallville. :)

The room was full to overflowing because of the hundreds of Supernatural fans who'd camped out overnight and had to sit through Smallville to get to what they really wanted to see - Jared, Jensen and the show's producers.

I believe the show has run its course, but needs to conclude right, therefor most likely this will be its final season. It had taken a turn for the worse three seasons ago, then got back on track its last two, and has gotten more intense. However, Allison Mack has been the morning glory of the show all along I believe. I'm excited for the upcoming season.

I think they should end this show because its definitely lost its former pop culture icon glory however before they end this they sure as hell better introduce some romance between Clark and Lois. The romance had also better not be introduced as a show ending cliffhanger 'cause I swear Hollywood has already half mutilated the Batman culture (not referring of course to the recent additions otherwise known as the movies Batman Begins and Batman: the Dark Knight which totally kick-ass) but to introduce a Superman show that has absolutely no hint of in-depth liaison between Clark Kent and Lois Lane that's not only infuriating that's blasphemy!

Smallville should have ended in Season 5, the show had so much potential with talented actors, especially Michael Rosenbaum & Allison Mack - who have been wasted the past 2 years. Chloe Sullivan should have been revealed as the REAL Lois Lane, because Smallville's version is an insult to the characterization. High school drop out, who's entrace to the Daily Planet is based on the romantic interest of the editor.
What a disgrace this show has become.

Smallville should of finished ages ago, it turned into a joke.
Chloe (allison mack) has to be the most annoying character ever. With the other characters gone some of the main focus would just be on her, I couldn't handle that.

Smallville started small and has become big. The fact that a few people say it should have ended a season or two ago says more about small minds than big series. With the episode on May 14th, the characters became more real than ever before, and the plot lines sank deep hooks into the audience. This series, because it appeals now to people with intelligence, will probably be canceled. That's been the case so often the list of wrongly canceled shows would be almost endless. The folks who will make these decisions should know that the short attention span, teeny minds who complain about the show being past its peak really are unable to wrap their minds around good writing. Smallville has matured, and its audience--its real audience--has matured too. Now, as we are about to reach the point where the Blur becomes Superman, is the worst possible time to back away from what has become a franchise. Now we are invested; now we cannot turn away. Give it another five years. And, importantly, keep the kind of music used in this episode. Somewhere between Starwars and Wagner, they hit the mark spot on.

This show is great and they should end within in the next season or two before it becomes not great...the best thing to do is to end with the reveal of superman
