Want to know if you should stick your toe in your local stream or the surf at your favorite beach?
You can check a new interactive website, Is it Safe to Swim in Our Waters?, for information on water quality at beaches, lakes and rivers around California.
The site is the first of several that will be developed by government and nonprofit organizations as a result of a 2006 state law directing that water quality information be posted online for easy access by the public.
