Zooey Deschanel, Tilda Swinton hit InStyle Golden Globes party

Film and TV honors are the Golden Globe Awards' centerpiece, but for celeb watchers it's the red carpet fashion at the forefront of the awards show -- and who better to celebrate those fantastic threads than InStyle magazine.

The mag, along with Warner Bros., toasted nominees and winners with an exclusive party following the telecast Sunday in the Beverly Hilton's Oasis courtyard.

Thomas Ford of Tom Ford Designs created a dark, sexy aquatic theme with an LED light sculpture and sharkskin booths, perfect for housing TV stars including Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and big-screen folks such as Tilda Swinton and Andrea Riseborough, Madonna's "W.E." leading lady.

At the party check-in, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" star Andy Serkis told the Ministry he thought host Ricky Gervais was "just hilarious" before dashing past the Godiva chocolate lounge. Zooey Deschanel, stunning in Prada loaded with jeweled detail, took many compliments for her nomination in the actress, TV comedy or musical, category before venturing into the main space.

There she would float among Leonardo DiCaprio with pal Kevin Connelly, Tilda Swinton in a show-stopping Haider Ackermann metallic skirt suit, Mila Kunis, Seth Rogen, winner Matt LeBlanc and "Bridesmaids" group Maya Rudolph, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Jon Hamm.

Zooey Deschanel files for divorce from Ben Gibbard

Zooey Deschanel has filed for divorce from Ben Gibbard

Zooey Deschanel has officially filed for divorce from Ben Gibbard, sliding the paperwork in at L.A. Superior Court before last year drew to a close.

Singer-songwriter and actress Deschanel, 31, and Death Cab for Cutie lead singer Gibbard, 35, separated on Halloween after two years of marriage. The decision was "mutual and amicable," it was reported at the time.

Court documents filed Dec. 27, obtained by TMZ, are par for the course in citing "irreconcilable differences," but the inclusion of her income and assets is a bit of a treat for the Hollywood-curious: The paperwork shows Deschanel with a little more than $3 million in assets, $95,000 a year coming in from She & Him and no credit card debt. Also detailed are expenses totaling $22,500 a month, including a $4,000-a-month mortgage, $2,000 a month for clothes and $1,500 going to charity.

Not surprising to see she's doing OK — Deschanel had a pretty successful 2011 with the hot sitcom "New Girl" and more: She notched a Grammy nomination for the song "So Long" from "Winnie the Pooh" and a Golden Globe nod for performance by an actress in a TV series, comedy or musical, which means, come Jan. 15, she'll up against Tina Fey, Laura Dern, Laura Linney and Amy Poehler — no sweat, right? — for that shiny golden trophy.

Zooey also became an aunt in September, when sister Emily "Bones" Deschanel and husband David Hornsby welcomed a baby boy.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt continues his singing spree

Joseph Gordon Levitt can't stop singing
On the heels of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's charming New Year's Eve duet with Zooey Deschanel, the "Dark Knight Rises" actor can't stop singing.

Gordon-Levitt stopped by The Sayers Club in Hollywood on Thursday, where the popular weekly Corzo Sessions from Jason Scoppa inspires many a bold name to get up and perform.

Joseph arrived with friends for the live music jam and wound up stealing the show with his rendition of the Top Notes classic "Twist and Shout."

Other performances included Gene Simmons' spawn Nick belting The Doors track "L.A. Woman" and Amie Miriello taking on a Cold War Kids cover.

Perhaps Levitt was just warming up for Saturday's big New Year's Eve night out. For a Friday snack, check out he and Deschanel's little ditty in the video below.

Zooey Deschanel has separated from husband Ben Gibbard

Zooey Deschanel of "New Girl" fame has separated from Ben Gibbard, her husband of a little more than two years.

Actress and singer Deschanel, 31, and the Death Cab for Cutie frontman, 35, were introduced three years ago by their mutual manager (Zooey is half of the band She & Him), then got married September 2009.

The decision "was mutual and amicable," a source told Us Weekly, which originally reported the split.

At least the "(500) Days of Summer" star will have work to keep her mind off the breakup. In September, "New Girl" was the new first Fox series to be picked up for a full season — shortly before new episodes were put on hold until November so the network could clear the decks for the World Series and "The X-Factor."

On the show, Zooey plays a woman who moves in with three guys after leaving her cheating boyfriend. In real life, she's playing a woman who just became an aunt: Sis Emily Deschanel and her husband, actor David Hornsby, welcomed a baby boy on Sept. 22.

Zooey Deschanel sang the national anthem Sunday night at Game 4 of the World Series, receiving a big cheer from the crowd, which we like to think was big not only because it was the national anthem at the World Series, but because she played the song straight and remembered all the words.

Unlike Christina Aguilera and Cyndi Lauper before her -- and even poor little Scotty McCreery, criticized just days ago by some who heard the words "No, Jose" rather than his country-accented "Oh, say" before Game 1 of the series -- "New Girl" star Deschanel didn't mess with success at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas, delivering an accurate "Star-Spangled Banner" free of vocal runs and other embellishments.

Perhaps being an MLB veteran helped the actress and singer? She'd done "God Bless America" for a seventh-inning stretch during a National League Championship Series game last October in San Francisco.

But no good deed goes unpunished, apparently, as 'round about the seventh inning in the contest between the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals the game announcers pointed out the empty seats where Deschanel and other folks from "New Girl" and "Glee" had been seated.

"Would have loved to have watched the whole game but I had to catch a plane so I can go to work tomorrow," Deschanel said overnight on Twitter. "That's all guys. I'm not a jerk."

Emily Deschanel: 'Bones' has a baby boy with hubby David Hornsby

Emily Deschanel has a baby boy

Emily Deschanel and David Hornsby are the parents of a new baby boy, Henry Hornsby, a first child for the acting duo.

Henry was born Wednesday to "Bones" star Deschanel, 34, and her "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" alum husband, her rep confirmed to People magazine. The two got married not quite a year ago in Pacific Palisades, with their one-year anniversary coming up on Sunday.

Like Alicia Silverstone before her, Deschanel stuck to her longtime vegan diet during her pregnancy. Deschanel went vegan -- no meat, eggs, dairy or wearing leather -- 18 years ago, and told Ladies Home Journal this summer that she had to defend her dietary choice even more while pregnant because "people don't understand." (The Ministry had a harder time understanding Silverstone's baby name, actually, but that's another story.)

Deschanel's pregnancy has been worked into her character Temperance Brennan's story line on "Bones," Entertainment Weekly reported. The show costarring David Boreanaz will premiere a bit later than most, on Nov. 3, with an emphasis in the first half of the season on Bones' preparation for motherhood.

Hornsby has traded "Sunny" this season for a new sitcom with "Entourage" alum Kevin Dillon, "How to Be a Gentleman," premiering in a week on CBS. And now aunt Zooey Deschanel has a little boy to go with her "New Girl," which launched Tuesday on Fox.
