Zoe Saldana plays real-life hero to elderly car crash victim

Zoe Saldana

In "Colombiana," Zoe Saldana plays an assassin hellbent on vengeance -- but off-screen in Culver City, the actress used her powers for good.

Saldana on Wednesday rushed to the aid of an elderly woman who was involved in a car crash, helping her from her vehicle to the curb and dialing 911.

"Zoe witnessed the car accident, and was very quick to help," a witness told People. She "immediately got on the phone with 911 and she seemed very concerned."

Photos of the scene showed serious cuts to the driver's face. Saldana stuck by until paramedics arrived.

"While waiting for help to arrive, Zoe returned to the woman's car and picked up the woman's handbag and sweater. Zoe was very caring and sweet to the woman," the witness added.

Saldana, currently rumored to be dating actor Bradley Cooper, will take her heroics this weekend to the Sundance Film Festival, where she'll promote her and Cooper's thriller "The Words."

Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper reportedly dating -- hear the sizzle?

Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper

Zoe Saldana? Hottie. Bradley Cooper? Hottie. And if the two are dating, as was reported Wednesday, that's going to be one hot gene pool for us celebrity voyeurs to wade in.

Over the summer, Saldana worked with Cooper, this year's People Sexiest Man Alive, on "The Words," a big-screen thriller expected to open next year.

Last month, the "Avatar" actress and Keith Britton, her entrepreneur beau of 11 years, announced they'd broken off their engagement. Cooper and Rene Zellweger split up in March after less than two years together; there was a gossipy stir in September when he and Jennifer Lopez had dinner together, reportedly to discuss a project.

Cooper and Saldana are "totally dating," an unnamed source told E! News exclusively, earning our love immediately with the passionate use of "totally." According to E!, the two were telling friends they intended to go skiing together in the Rockies over the holidays.

Saldana's rep could not be reached for comment.

Zoe Saldana steps out single after Keith Britton breakup

Zoe Saldana and Keith Britton have split up

Zoe Saldana and entrepreneur Keith Britton have called off their longtime relationship.

Saldana and Britton "have amicably separated after 11 years," a representative of the "Avatar" actress said in a statement. The pair, engaged in June 2010, had a rare consistency for love in young Hollywood.

Though their romance is over, they're still together in one sense: "Saldana and Britton remain committed business partners as co-founders of fashion resource MyFDB.com," the rep added to People.

At the Hollywood Style Awards on Sunday night, Saldana made her first public appearance since the breakup was announced, presenting the hairstylist of the year award to pal and collaborator Mara Roszak.

In a modest pink number, Saldana seemed in good spirits while celebrating Roszak, who so often makes Zoe shine everywhere from "the Oscars to photo shoots and in between."

Saldana on Thursday presented the award for record of the year to Calle 13 for "Latinoamerica" at the 12th annual Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas.

Anne Hathaway, Daniel Radcliffe, George Lucas hit Scream Awards

It's that magical time of year in Hollywood when the weather turns, pumpkins are carved and super-famous people congregate in celebration of things that make us scream — and because it's Hollywood, it's safest to throw in few awards along the way. Say, some Scream Awards.

Spike TV hosted its 2011 Scream Awards bash Saturday at Universal Studios Hollywood's Falls Lake, where the likes of Anne Hathaway, Daniel Radcliffe and Nicolas Cage came to honor the fans of their various franchises.

A shrieking blond in the jaws of a giant claw crane opened the show, giving way to the Hero Award — presented this year to Robert Downey Jr. His legion of fans waved signs featuring the actor in the style of Shepherd Fairey's famous "Change" poster.

Backstage, Bradley Cooper lounged in the green room before accepting a prize for "Limitless," which was named best thriller. Amber Heard, star of the now-defunct "Playboy Club," teetered around in stilettos on the arm of a male companion, and Joseph Gordon Levitt chatted up his "Dark Knight Rises" costar Hathaway.

Hathaway and Levitt joined Gary Oldman in scooping up the trophy for most anticipated film for "Rises," which arrives next year directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale.

Speaking of bail — bad boy Cage came in recognition of his Maverick Award, through a firestorm of lights and pyro.

Paul "Pee-wee Herman" Reubens turned some heads, even thrilling fans including Kal Penn and John Cho, while the Ministry witnessed what was possibly the best-ever run-in at the bar: George Lucas and a Darth Vader performer waiting together for some cocktails.

To mark the end of the "Harry Potter" franchise and thank the fans one more time, Radcliffe appeared via live feed from New York's Lincoln Center, where Samuel L. Jackson introduced the boy wizard for a tribute.

The Scream Awards air at 9 p.m. Tuesday on Spike.

Brad Pitt, 'The Tree of Life' and a few lovely ladies remind us what makes Cannes, well, Cannes

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at the "Tree of Life" premiere in Cannes

Start with Brad Pitt, add Angelina Jolie and a few other famous beauties, then spice it up with a little cinematic controversy and you have the premiere of "Tree of Life" at the Cannes Film Festival.

Zoe Saldana in Cannes The premiere Monday was almost a case study in what Cannes in particular can deliver, with Pitt and partner Jolie walking dramatically toward each other to pose regally for legions of photographers before heading in to screen a film that had been hyped as brilliant but got only an OK reception -- one marked by some boos and the absence of a bow by director Terrence Malick, whom star Pitt and costar Jessica Chastain had earlier defended.

"I don't know why people who make things in our business are expected to sell them," Pitt said at a daytime news conference that was missing not only Malick but costar Sean Penn.

That'd be the same Pitt who plays a father in the film, who also told reporters he was brought up "being told things were God's way, and when things didn't work out it was called God's plan. I've got my issues with it. Don't get me started. I found it very stifling."

OK then -- back to Penn, who made it to the red carpet later, joining Pitt, Chastain and the likes of rock stars Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale and fashion plate Zoe Saldana, the "Avatar" star who's been tapped to play Lt. Uhura in an as-yet-untitled "Star Trek" film.

Only in Hollywood, right? Except when it's happening in the south of France.

Met Gala 2011: Madonna, Kristen Stewart, Kanye West work the red carpet [Pictures]

Kristen Stewart in Proenza Schouler at the 2011 Met Gala Well-heeled luminaries from fashion, Hollywood and the arts crowd gathered in Manhattan on Monday night for the 2011 Met Gala, hosted annually by Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and more formally known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala Benefit.

This year's exhibit celebrates the life and work of Alexander McQueen (super timely, because that fashion house just dressed Kate Middleton for her wedding to Prince William).

McQueen, of course, took his own life in in February 2010. Wintour was joined by Salma Hayek and her husband, luxury brand mogul Francois-Henri Pinault, in unveiling the exhibit.

Madonna appeared on the arm of manager Guy O'Seary, looking statuesque in a green gown (though nowhere near the hauteness of her 2009 Vuitton bunny ears). Sarah Jessica Parker brought some Carrie Bradshaw fierceness with a glittering flesh-tone McQueen gown and Bravo's Andy Cohen on her arm.

Renee Zellweger wore a similar color, a bit more glowing in a near-perfect showing of glamour after her recent split from actor Bradley Cooper

There was clearly a color trend to the evening as Gwyneth Paltrow opted for a similar palette, designed in her case by pal Stella McCartney

Because the Met Gala is all about fashion, big-name designers get to show off who inspires them — for example, Tory Burch suiting up suited Kanye West, Kristen Stewart looking radiant with her dress designers Proenza Schouler, and Thakoon Panichgul making the scene with Mia Wasikowska.

Michelle Williams was still working her pixie magic, rocking a black Miu Miu gown with gold bird detail. Also spotted at the Met Gala: Jennifer Lopez in Gucci, pregnant ladies Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba, Vogue's Hamish Bowles, Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough, Zoe Saldana, Freida Pinto, Diane Kruger, and Beyonce.

'Takers' Hollywood premiere: Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen, T.I. and more [Updated]

The crew from the bank-heist film "Takers" stole the red-carpet spotlight Wednesday night outside the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, with cast members T.I. and Chris Brown grabbing the mike and hitting the stage later to perform at the after-party.

Snoop Dogg at the Takers premiere in Hollywood Brown told MTV recently that he did "96 percent" of his stunts in the film and would've done more if producers had allowed him to. "I think the most exciting parts are the stunts, getting to blow stuff up, shoot guns, you know what I'm saying," he told MTV. "It's all fun!"

Other cast members out there with newlywed T.I. (real name Clifford Harris) included Idris Elba, Michael Ealy and Hayden Christensen plus director John Luessenhop.

Also spotted on the red carpet: Snoop Dogg, Jesse McCartney, newlywed LaLa Vazquez, Quinton Aaron, Andy Dick, Koena Mitra, Claudia Jordan, Camille Winbush and singer Keri Hilson, who also performed at the after-party, held at Boulevard 3 in Hollywood.

Zoe Saldana engaged to longtime boyfriend Keith Britton

Zoe Saldana engaged to Keith Britton After roughly a decade together, actress Zoe Saldana and her boyfriend Keith Britton are engaged to be married, the "Avatar" star's rep confirms to People magazine.

No additional details are available, such as a date or location, but at least she's got her something blue covered.

Saldana's had a banner year, with the remarkable success of James Cameron's latest epic, a brand ambassadorship with Avon and recently taking home Women in Film's Face of the Future award.

At the June 1 ceremony, Saldana opened up about her guarded relationship with Britton, chief exec of My Fashion Database.

"I've lived a very private life, and I've been with a partner for 10 years," she said. " ... I tend to confuse privacy with not saying thank you, so I love you."

Zoe Saldana comes out of the closet at Women in Film's Crystal + Lucy Awards

At Women in Film's 2010 Crystal + Lucy Awards Tuesday night, Zoe Saldana finally announced that she was coming out of the closet.

As a straight woman, that is.

Accepting the MaxMara "Face of the Future" Award, the 31-year-old "Avatar" and "Star Trek" star said, "I have to thank that one special person who always gets buried and overlooked. I've lived a very private life, and I've been with a partner for 10 years who has allowed me to age ..."

Women-in-Film-gallery (Insert your own gasp here.)

"... which is absolutely awesome and he's super bright, and he's here tonight and I'm just going to come out of the closet right now. I'm going to say, 'Thank you.' I tend to confuse privacy with not saying thank you, so I love you."

And then the screens on either side of the stage flashed on her squeeze, former actor and chief executive of MyFDB.com Keith Britton

Now the Ministry is just as romantic as the next blogger, but we suspect that the lovely Saldana didn't just wake up and discover she was living with a cutie pie. We're placing our bets on the long arm of Siempre Mujer magazine, for Latinas living in the U.S., which put her on the cover of its April/May issue. English translations of the cover story, which ricocheted as far away as the Hindustan Times, had Saldana saying she wasn't surprised by rumors she was a lesbian: "People have sometimes told my grandmother, 'Your granddaughter has a bit of lesbianism in her.'"
