Zac Efron, Dakota Fanning and more star in 'Stand Up to Cancer' PSA

Some of the hottest names in young Hollywood, including Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Dakota Fanning and Olivia Munn, have banded together to spread awareness for Stand Up to Cancer.

The likes of Kristen Bell, Zachary Levi, new "Spider-Man" Andrew Garfield and Naya Rivera of "Glee" pitch in as well in a new public service announcement tasking viewers to "defeat the odds" by supporting innovative cancer research.

The PSA also serves to promote Stand Up to Cancer's Sept. 10 telethon, a one-hour fundraiser that will be simulcast commercial-free across major networks, including NBC, ABC and CBS, as well as cable stations including E! and VH1.

Check out the PSA above.

Report: Zac Efron may star in Nicholas Sparks' 'The Lucky One'

Zac-efron

Zac Efron is in talks to star in "The Lucky One," yet another Nicholas Sparks novel to be repackaged for the big screen, Vulture reports.

In classic Sparks style, Efron would play a Marine returning from duty in Iraq who searches for a mysterious woman whose picture he believes got him through the war alive. Other Sparks books turned into feature films include "Message in a Bottle," "A Walk to Remember," "The Notebook" and "The Last Song," which notably starred Miley Cyrus in her post-"Hannah Montana" acting debut.

The actor's "Charlie St. Cloud" is now in theaters -- and if you live in the L.A. area, his face is currently inescapable, plastered alongside freeways and on bus benches all over the place. Not that we're complaining -- the dude is definitely more attractive than the Los Angeles River bed in summer.

The ESPY Awards: Like the Emmys, or Grammys, or Oscars, but for sports

Espy-awards

As anyone who's visited the Ministry's pro athlete archives knows, jocks are celebrities too -- so it's only fair they get their shot at shiny statuettes, just like actors and singers do.

Thank ESPN (not exactly a nonprofit "academy," but work with us here) for staging the extravaganza, complete with a swag suite and a red carpet that would make Hollywood proud.

Adam Samberg as Paul the octopus at the 2010 ESPY Awards Heck, Hollywood even showed up for the event, in the form of host Seth Myers, presenters Zac Efron, January Jones, Ashley Greene and Tracy Morgan, and guests like Andy Samberg, who hit the stage dressed as, um, Paul the octopus. World Cup reference, there. Also spotted: Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte.

And why not show up -- the event was, after all, held Hollywood-adjacent in downtown L.A. at the Nokia Theatre, which was recently in the spotlight over a little four-day camp-out before the premiere of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse."

There was even an "aww" moment onstage that cries out to be made into a movie, maybe starring Will Ferrell in some way, shape or form: Major League Baseball umpire Jim Joyce and Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga shook hands before presenting an award. No hard feelings, right?

'Nightline'? Whatever. Sandra Bullock to attend MTV Movie Awards

Sandra_bullock Jesse James might not want his MTV.

People.com is reporting that Sandra Bullock will attend the MTV Movie Awards, set to take place on June 6 in Universal City, where she’ll receive the MTV Generation Award “for her riveting and diverse contributions to the film industry.”

Maybe RPattz and Zac Efron will take her mind off things?

The news comes just a day after James’ appeared on “Nightline” in an interview during which he attributed his cheating ways to the abuse he suffered as a child. According to ABC News, almost 7 million viewers tuned in to watch the program (that's compared with 3.7 million for Jay Leno and 3.45 million for David Letterman).

Bullock, 45, has kept a relatively low profile lately since announcing to the world she had adopted a son, Louis.

Couples update: Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens slip into something more comfortable

Zac efron vanessa hudgens

In the stratosphere of teen stardom, where friends and lovers change as quickly as the courses of a Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber sushi date, it's nice to have constants like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.

Though they're not the most buzzed-about pair since the "High School Musical" franchise cooled, they're still very much an item.

The Ministry spotted Miss Hudgens, star of the upcoming "Beastly" with Mary-Kate Olsen, shopping at the Los Angeles Diesel flagship on Wednesday. The actress scored goods not only for herself, but also picked up a pair of Efron's favorite ...

Star Sightings: Jennifer Lopez's style snaps, Mark Ronson's Gucci Icon ideals

Mark Ronson (3) The Ministry's got fresh intel on where the stars have been working and playing, in Hollywood and beyond.

"The Twilight Saga" star Justin Chon may portray a mere human in the vampire franchise, but he got a moment of glory Wednesday night in Beverly Hills.

At nightspot Trousdale, Chon showed for the launch of Capcom's Super Street Fighter IV. He played the video game alongside "One Tree Hill" actor Robert Buckley and Gregory Michael of "Greek."

Over at music venue Avalon Hollywood, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens stopped by an L.A. Family Housing fundraiser, where they were spotted holding hands.

Across the pond, stars celebrated the opening of Gucci Icon's temporary storefront in London's Covent Garden. DJ Mark Ronson and "Twilight Saga" star Jamie Campbell Bower showed for the stylist fete, alongside Gucci creative director Frida Giannini, Amanda Seyfried's beau Dominic Cooper and Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon.

From international chic to red carpet glam: Us Magazine will host its annual Hot Hollywood Style Issue bash Thursday night.

At club Drai's atop the new W Hollywood, Jennifer Lopez will accept the mag's Style Icon of the Decade prize, with appearances by Sheryl Crow, "Glee" hunk Mark Salling, Molly Sims, "True Blood" star Ryan Kwanten, Jason Lewis, Kelly Osbourne, "Twilight Saga" and "Up in the Air" chick Anna Kendrick, Lisa Rinna and Aisha Tyler.

Stars galore at the 2010 Academy Awards Governors Ball

Bridges puck "How can the governor have a ball? California's out of money, isn't it?" We definitely heard that crack more than once Sunday at the Academy Awards.

No, sillies, it wasn't Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's ball -- rather, it was the official after-party presented annually by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. And this Sunday night the 1,500-capacity ballroom, glowing in gentle purple tones, was packed. Definitely a larger turnout than last year, event staff said.

It was good to be Jeff Bridges: Once the best actor winner made it into the party, flashes were popping like mad as he clapped chef Wolfgang Puck on the back and they both smiled broadly for the cameras, talking all the while.

When Bridges was whisked away for more interviews -- glass of water in his hand, though he'd been sipping Champagne during his victory interview backstage -- a pack of photographers floated along in his wake like a train on a diva's gown. He appeared to be enjoying the ocean of congratulations -- can you blame him? -- and was spotted later, out of the crush ...

Oscars 2010: Let the post-game party coverage begin!

Best pic "The Hurt Locker" was Oscar's big winner Sunday night, taking its best picture honors in a wow-did-they-just-give-an-award flash at the close of the show. So, why the rush?

The logical explanation for the broadcast's abrupt end might be that presenter Tom Hanks was under pressure to wrap it up quickly. The Ministry, however, prefers to imagine they sped things up so that everyone could head straight for the parties that followed.

The stars had places to go and people to schmooze: James Cameron and Suzy Amis were about to spend a couple of hours on their feet holding court with the "Avatar" gang and other admirers at the Governors Ball; Jennifer Lopez had to manage a clothing quick-change into party black for the Vanity Fair soiree. Taylor Lautner and Zac Efron, Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock were among those whose presence would be demanded in at least two places at once. And Woody Harrelson was about to arrange a late-night foodie call with a rather large bowl of Wolfgang Puck pasta.

The Ministry's party coverage is incoming; until then, check out Oscar's red carpet arrivals (so in love with Zoe Saldana's exciting purple Givenchy, not to mention Bullock's silver sheath) and highlights from the show itself ...
