'Abduction': Taylor Lautner gets a leading-man premiere [Video]

Taylor Lautner at the "Abduction" premiere

Taylor Lautner is no stranger to red-carpet fanfare. As a veteran of the "Twilight" franchise, he's become accustomed to girls lunging toward him, desperate for autographs or photographs.

But at the premiere of each "Twilight" film, all of the attention isn't centered on the 19-year-old — fans also go wild for his costars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. That wasn't the case Thursday night, when Lautner's new film, "Abduction," premiered in Hollywood.

Pictures: 'Abduction' movie premiere in Hollywood

The John Singleton-directed film is the actor's bid to become an action star and leave his identity as a young heartthrob behind. But if the reception Lautner got outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre was any indication, it'll be a while before he can entirely abandon his teen pinup reputation.

Hundreds of girls lined Hollywood Boulevard, chanting "Taylor!" repeatedly in unison as Lautner made his way down the street, stopping to greet fans for nearly 40 minutes. Though "Abduction" is Lautner's first major role on the big screen, he came across as a veteran movie star, looking polished in a tailored suit and waving to those he didn't have the time to meet.

It's no coincidence that Lautner exudes the presence of a Tom Cruise or a Matt Damon, said Singleton: The director asked the actor to watch the films of such stars to prepare for "Abduction."

"We studied Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, Matt Damon — I mean, we even studied James Dean — because I wanted him to see people that were kind of in his position when they were young and how they evolved and changed as artists, just so he could get a sense of what his own path would be," the filmmaker said.

Lautner, who said he was dazed by the "surreal" scene unveiling around him, said Singleton's suggestion helped him to "get the tone" for "Abduction."

"For Harrison Ford, we chose 'The Fugitive,' for Tom Cruise, 'Minority Report' — like, leading man on the run," he said. "And we got that tone right before we went to film."

In the film, Lautner is Nathan, a high schooler who discovers his face on a missing-persons website and begins questioning his identity. Nathan's psychiatrist is played by Sigourney Weaver, who said she believes Lautner will have a long career in Hollywood.

"He wants it, and I think that's the most important thing," Weaver said on the red carpet. "I always thought he was very good as the Indian-slash-werewolf or whatever he is [in the 'Twilight' films]. I actually think that's a harder role. Because this is in a way — he's playing a normal kid who's thrust into this incredible adventure. So I think actually you get to see more of who Taylor is in this."

"Abduction" opens Sept. 23.

New 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn' photos: Edward, Bella get cozier

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson with 'Breaking Dawn' director Bill Condon

"Twilight" stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's Edward and Bella are steaming things up in the newest batch of set photos from "The Twilight Sage: Breaking Dawn -- Part 1."

Beware: Spoilers ahead.

Edward and Bella can be seen once again at their highly anticipated wedding, with the Cullen clan and between the sheets of their marriage bed. Their postmarital tryst brings on deadly consequences for the vampire-human couple and the ones they love in the final films, including Taylor Lautner's spurned Jacob Black.

Photos: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in 'Breaking Dawn'"It's a trip to watch the wedding scenes, especially," Stewart has said. "It was so volatile and emotional -- I was being such a crazy person."

But the pivotal scene that surely drove Twi-hards raging through the pages of Stephenie Meyer's final book was Renesmee's controversial conception, which pushes the newlyweds into parenting a supernatural hybrid. Surely the penultimate installment of the series is laden with emotions, which we're sure fans everywhere will share.

Academy Award-winning director Bill Condon directs the first of a two-part adaptation of Meyer's final book. It hits theaters Nov. 18.

Until then, click the pics for a peek at the newest stills from the "Breaking Dawn" set including some of the, ahem, other things Edward and Bella do on their honeymoon.

Robert Pattinson's sex-scene regret: Ruining such nice pillows

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen has had a lot he could feel guilty about in the course of "The Twilight Saga" -- hassling werewolves, luring his girlfriend into the life of the undead -- but it's what happened to the pillows that really upsets him.

Pattinson was dishing to EW about Edward's sex scene with Kristen Stewart's Bella Swan in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1," which opens in November.

Making love to Bella while she's still human, he said, Edward resorts to some interesting tactics to avoid killing her. Like destroying their honeymoon bed.

"I wanted to have it as a line so much: 'I bit through all the pillows. Every. Single. One.' And then he'd start crying," Pattinson told EW. "By the way, that's what he should be ashamed of in the morning. All those beautiful pillows! Egyptian cotton! I ruined this bed!"

It's cool, Rob. Perhaps you can find other luxury gifts to compensate. Stewart was hardly concerned, as she was more jazzed about filming the wedding ceremony than capturing the boom-boom that followed.

"It's a trip to watch the wedding scenes, especially," she said. "It was so volatile and emotional -- I was being such a crazy person."

'Breaking Dawn' invades Comic-Con: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner

We can see Twi-fever on the horizon: "Breaking Dawn" has landed at Comic-Con.

The vampire franchise and its stars, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, descended on San Diego's annual comic convention Thursday for a panel discussion about the first part of the series' epic conclusion.

In a loose-fitting white shirt and black bra, Stewart was flanked by her male costars answering burning questions about fan-favorite plot points — like a gory birth scene featuring her and Pattinson.

"I think the birth scene...for a fantasy scene that has kind of a youngish audience, it goes very far," Pattinson said according to HitFix. The actor labels the scene "hardcore" but insists "there was no other way to do it."

Stewart seems in a reflective place about the films, ones that have catapulted the 21-year-old to stardom.

"I've been building up to these moments for four years. I was 17 when I started doing this movie," she said.

As for the standard behind-the-scenes fun facts, Pattinson dropped this gem about Stewart's downtime obsession: cooking shows.

"Kristen literally only watches the Cooking Channel. And especially on set, it's bizarre. She has a TV in her trailer, and it's always on. It's her only diva-ish behavior," said Pattinson.

"And you all reap the benefits," Stewart shot back.

Emma Watson, who saw best-kiss snub coming, debuts 'Deathly Hallows' clip [Video]

Emma Watson gets snubbed, misses Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner's kiss and debuts exclusive 'Harry Potter' clip at MTV Movie Awards

Emma Watson may have been bested by Kristen Stewart and fellow Brits Robert Pattinson and Tom Felton at the MTV Movie Awards, but "The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2" star said she saw the best-kiss snub coming — and revealed that she can be insecure when it comes to dating because of her fame.

"I mean, I was really up against it. Kristen had two kisses, and Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman making out," Watson told MTV News. "I mean, I couldn't really compete!"

Though "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1" was the third most-nominated film after "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "Inception," chances that the wizarding franchise would beat the vampire juggernaut were slim. Maybe that's why the 21-year-old face of Lancome hit the award show sans costars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint?

However, she brought a sneak peak of the film instead, and Potter fans have already vowed to beat the Twi-hards next year. Watch the trailer below.

After presenting the clip, wearing a curve-hugging little white dress by Marchesa and revealing that Hermione Granger does in fact have a booty, the actress slipped backstage and missed one of the most talked-about moments of the night: Pattinson and Taylor Lautner's lip-lock following the announcement of best kiss.

"I was like, 'Damn!' " Watson said. "I was still backstage, so I missed it. But, I mean, yeah, good on them!"

But the actress, nominated for her own lip-lock with Radcliffe, has admitted that she worries when she doesn't get action off-screen.

"I ask my friends, ''Why hasn't X called me? Why doesn't anyone ever pursue me?'" she told the Sunday Times' Style Magazine. "My friends tell me, 'Probably because they're intimidated.' It must be the fame wall. It must be the circus that goes around me."

The currently single star, who has previously dated financier Jay Barrymore and male model George Craig, chalks up her unlucky-in-love track record to her personality.

"I'm this very weird mix. In some senses, I feel as if I'm 100 years old. In others, I still feel incredibly young, very naive and as if I haven't seen much of the world at all."

Poor, sweet Emma. Maybe she should consider taking that mini-dress for another spin?

'Breaking Dawn' trailer: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and a wedding invitation

Edward and Bella are getting married and everyone is invited -- at least invited to watch "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" trailer, in which usual suspects Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner return for high drama, death matches and a Brazilian honeymoon.

Breaking Dawn trailer features an invitation to Edward and Bella's weddingThe trailer for the first part of "Breaking Dawn" teases with the ominous arrival of a wedding invitation trumpeting the union of Pattinson's Edward and Stewart's Bella, which no one seems that happy about.

Lautner's Jacob immediately goes shirtless and morphs to werewolf form while Michael Sheen's Aro looks pretty devious and Billy Burke, who plays Bella's father, can only ponder the correspondence over a can of beer.

Check out the full trailer above for a first look at Stewart decked out as a bride, some onscreen affection from KStew and RPattz, and the first rumblings of a very unexpected (and life-changing) bun in the oven.

Nikki Reed and singer Paul McDonald are engaged

Nikki Reed is engaged to Paul McDonald

Nikki Reed is engaged to Paul McDonald, the "American Idol" singer known for his raspy voice and his embroidered floral suits.

"He's the one," the 23-year-old "Twilight" star told E! News on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet Sunday night, flashing a diamond ring. "He's the one."

An E! source confirmed the engagement; the two already live together, People reported in May.

"I love him and I don't care," Reed said at an early birthday party, dismissing the idea that their relationship was moving too fast. "I've never met anyone like him," she told People. "I've never met anyone who has such a good solid heart and comes from such a good solid family and is just a genuine person."

McDonald, 26, made it to eighth place on the most recent season of "Idol," with the title eventually going to 17-year-old country crooner Scotty McCreery.

After he was voted off in April, the Grand Magnolias singer spilled the news about his relationship with Reed, saying at a news conference that she was "pumped" he'd been nixed. "She said, 'Dude, you finally get to do your thing and be yourself and be the artist you are.' She is happy about the whole situation. She has been nothing but cool to me."

Cool enough that he wants to keep her around for the long haul, apparently. He's also been inspired to write songs about his lady love, who told E!, "He says he's going to release a Nikki Reed EP."

Question we have to ask: Will Paul get married wearing that white suit with the red roses on it? We'd love it if he did.

'Twilight' actress Bryce Dallas Howard pregnant with second child

Bryce Dallas Howard pregnant Bryce Dallas Howard, the voracious vampire from "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," is pregnant again.

Howard, 30, and husband Seth Gabel of "Fringe" and "United States of Tara" fame, announced the pregnancy Wednesday, Us Weekly reported.

This will be the second child for the couple, who had their first son, Theo, in 2007. However, shortly after giving birth to him, Howard -- the daughter of director Ron Howard -- suffered from a debilitating bout of post-partum depression.

"Before Theo was born, I had been in good humor about my 80-pound weight gain, but I was now mortified by it," Howard wrote in a July 2010 essay for Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP blog. "I felt I was failing at breast-feeding. My house was a mess. I believed I was a terrible dog owner. I was certain I was an awful actress; I dreaded a film I was scheduled to shoot only a few weeks after the birth because I could barely focus enough to read the script. And worst of all, I definitely felt I was a rotten mother -- not a bad one, a rotten one. Because the truth was, every time I looked at my son, I wanted to disappear."

The detailed piece describes her struggle with giving birth, walking and lactating. She said she called her son "it" and suffered from "emotional amnesia" because she couldn't genuinely cry, laugh or be moved by anything. But the actress ultimately sought therapy and said she found solace in "Down Came the Rain" by actress Brooke Shields, who also opened up about her experience with the same illness in the book.

"Post-partum depression is hard to describe -- the way the body and mind and spirit fracture and crumble in the wake of what most believe should be a celebratory time," Howard wrote.

"I cringed when I watched my interview on television [about depression] because of my inability to share authentically what I was going through, what so many women go through. I fear more often than not, for this reason alone, we choose silence. And the danger of being silent means only that others will suffer in silence and may never be able to feel whole because of it."

Howard will star in "The Help," a drama also starring Emma Stone, Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Sissy Spacek and Mike Vogel this summer. She'll also appear in "50/50" alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anjelica Huston and Anna Kendrick in September.

The Ministry wishes Howard and Gabel a healthy pregnancy and a healthy post-partum period this time around.

Saoirse Ronan cast in movie version of Stephenie Meyer book 'The Host'

Saoirse Ronan cast in 'The Host' "Hanna" star Saoirse Ronan has been cast in the big-screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's adult sci-fi love story "The Host."

Ronan will play Melanie Stryder, a 20-year-old human girl whose mind is invaded by a parasitic alien, MTV reported. Ronan, 17, may have to be aged a bit for the Inferno Entertainment production, which is currently without a director. Former director Susanna White recently pulled out of the project, written by Andrew Niccol of "The Truman Show."

Ronan, who starred in "The Lovely Bones" and was nominated for an Oscar for "Atonement," will have to play a role within a role as her character's body hosts the invading "soul" named Wanderer.

Sorry "Twi-hards" -- no vampires, werewolves or Edward Cullen in this Meyer series, but bookworms say it packs the same heart-melting punch.

The "Twilight" author's "The Host," on bookshelves since 2008, follows Bella-like lead Melanie as the soul probes her thoughts and she fights against it with visions of Jared, the love of her life, one of the few humans in hiding who have not yet been invaded by the parasite. Eventually, Wanderer begins to yearn for Jared, whom she was sent to seek out. A love triangle ensues -- involving only two bodies instead of three -- then host and Wanderer set out to find Jared and ultimately deal with the love they simultaneously feel.

Um, where's Katy Perry's "E.T." when you need it?
