Gyllenhaal, Cruise, Cage turn out for 'Prince of Persia' premiere, Bruckheimer footprint blowout

Jake-premiere-web

Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton and Ben Kingsley were among cast members on the red carpet for the "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" premiere Monday in Hollywood -- but thanks to a ceremony recognizing producer Jerry Bruckheimer, they had more than the usual crop of famous friends on scene.

Bruckheimer promo Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage, Billy Bob Thornton and Eddie Murphy showed to see Bruckheimer smush his hands and feet into cement outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre, to introduce screenings of Bruckheimer's  "National Treasure," "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," "Armageddon," "Top Gun" and "Beverly Hills Cop" -- or to do both. (Click on the picture at right to launch a photo gallery from the day's events.)

Fans paid $30 a pop to see their fave of those films at the Mann Chinese 6 or El Capitan theaters, popcorn and a soda included. The screenings were part of "A Cinematic Celebration of Jerry Bruckheimer," the purpose of which is pretty clear in the title -- though we must say, all day the Ministry has been fighting the urge to stage a car or jet chase or set off a major explosion right here on the blog.

Following the Hollywood celebration, Cruise and bride Katie Holmes hit West Hollywood's ...

Katie Holmes gives Tom Cruise the 'Lola' treatment

Katie Holmes turned it on onstage for hubby Tom Cruise on Saturday night in L.A., singing and dancing to "Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets" for a Motion Picture & Television Fund benefit

Cruise was dancing as well -- albeit in a Kate Gosselin-on-"Dancing With the Stars" sort of way.

Thoughts? Anyone?

Star sightings: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes heart Fergie and Josh Duhamel

Tomkat Power-couples-becoming-besties alert! Looks as if Fergie and Josh Duhamel have newfound friends in Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

At the Black Eyed Peas show Monday at Staples Center, TomKat took in the energetic show, making sure to pop backstage to pose for photos with Fergie and Duhamel.

Little Suri was nowhere to be found, but the couple brought along Cruise's 15-year-old, Connor, and stopped to chat up guitarist Slash, who made a cameo onstage with the Peas.

Afterward, at Bacardi's post-party at Club Nokia, BEP frontman will.i.am jammed with LMFAO.

On Thursday in Las Vegas, another VIP party went down, but this one without the booze ...

Mission Impossible? No, J.J. Abrams was indeed honored as an Irishman in film

Irish1 What's a nice Jewish boy like J.J. Abrams doing in a place like this?

After all, you wouldn't exactly call the producer of "Lost," "Star Trek" and "Missions Impossible III" and "IV" a son of the Emerald Isle, whose tribe was celebrated at Thursday's Oscar Wilde Awards allegedly "honoring the Irish in film."

And now a word from our sponsor: This is a Tom Cruise item. Hang in there.

Back to Abrams. So the New York-born Abrams isn't exactly Irish, but his wife, Katie McGrath, qualifies him as Irish Adjacent. Close enough, apparently. Abrams joined "The Soloist" and "Atonement" cinematographer Seamus McGarvey and "The Lovely Bones" star Saoirse Ronan (who was in Germany working on a second film for "Atonement" director Joe Wright) as this year's honorees of the U.S.-Ireland Alliance at the Wilshire Ebell.

Super Bowl XLIV party report: Cameron Diaz, Chace Crawford, Michael Bay and the Black Eyed Peas

Fergie Superbowl2 It's doubtful that anyone partied as hard last night as the New Orleans Saints, celebrating their Super Bowl win. That doesn't mean a host of Hollywood stars didn't give them a run for their money all weekend.

Miami was overflowing with A-list talent, prepping for the big game at beachfront hot spots and private mansions alike.

Talent agency CAA invited an embarrassment of bold-face names to its Saturday bash at the W Hotel South Beach. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Cameron Diaz, Derek Jeter, Carrie Underwood, Chris Rock, Jessica Alba, Alex Rodriguez and Hilary Swank stopped by.

The sprawling Florida home of "Transformers" director Michael Bay was the site of the Giving Back Fund and Dewar's Signature's charity soiree the same night. "Gossip Girl" hunks Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick attended, as well as Westwick's main squeeze, Jessica Szohr, and mogul Russell Simmons

At the Hotel 944, Snoop Dogg partied in the penthouse after his performance, with Brent Bolthouse and race car driver Jimmie Johnson. The bash even got a visit from Captain Morgan and his scantily clad pirate gals, the Morganettes.

Coincidentally, the Black Eyed Peas had a tour stop in Miami the night before the big game. They celebrated their performance with tour sponsor Bacardi and Playboy magazine. Onstage, Josh Duhamel's bride Fergie encouraged the crowd to "do the fist pump," in honor of her fave guilty pleasure, "Jersey Shore."

Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes bring Suri to see 'Mary Poppins'

Cruise family mary poppins Is "Mary Poppins" at the Ahmanson Theatre threatening Voyeur and Guys and Dolls as an A-list spot to see and be seen in Los Angeles?

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes treated daughter Suri Cruise to an evening out with "Mary Poppins" at the Music Center in downtown L.A. on Wednesday night.

Suri, by the way, is an old pro at this "musical" thing -- while Katie was rehearsing for the drama "All My Sons" on Broadway in 2008, mama took the wee fashion plate to see "Mary Poppins" on Broadway too.

The Ministry assumes, of course, that the West Coast show was much better. (Hey, Suri's wide awake in the photo above! After New York? Not so much. OK, maybe it was just late.)

Other celebs who've seen "Mary Poppins"? In L.A. recently, David Beckham brought sons Brooklyn, Cruz and Romeo. Meanwhile in New York,  Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie saw the Jan. 3 matinee with their four oldest kids, Maddox, Shiloh, Zahara and Pax. Amy Adams, the Jonas Brothers, Jude Law and Cate Blanchett have also been spotted in the New York audience.

Wonder which other family-friendly celebs might attend Los Angeles performances before the musical closes Feb. 7?

[For the record, 2:32 p.m.: An earlier version of this post placed the Jolie-Pitts, Adams, the JoBros, Law and Blanchett at shows in L.A. The Beckhams and Cruises saw it in L.A., and the rest caught the production in New York.]

Overpaid actor Will Ferrell is also a nice guy: Ask Pete Carroll

Willbark Will Ferrell is Hollywood's most overpaid actor, according to Forbes.com. He's got some good company too: Ewan McGregor, Tom Cruise and Billy Bob Thornton are in the Top 10.

But, hey, does the Ministry see Ewan or Tom or even Billy Bob dropping their names on a comedy event to help some of L.A.'s toughest neighborhoods? No, it does not. Will Ferrell, however, is hooking up with USC Coach Pete Carroll to do just that.

One word: karma.

More on the event in a sec -- first, how did Will get the short end of the ROI stick? Forbes looked at actors who over the last five years had starred in at least three movies that opened in more than 500 theaters, figured out money out and money in, and then a bunch of math happened...
