Barbara Walters' fascinating people: Derek 'Gift Basket' Jeter

Barbara Walters and Derek Jeter

Sitting down with Barbara Walters for her "10 Most Fascinating People of 2011" special, Derek Jeter talked about his experiences with racism growing up as a person with a black father and a white mother.

"You'd go places and you'd get stares, you know, if you're just with one of your parents," he told Walters. "People always give you sort of a double take, because something just didn't seem right."

Jeter said it taught him how he "didn't want to be" and how he needed to learn about different people "as opposed to just judging them."

What Jeter didn't discuss in the teaser clip with Walters was a fascinating New York Post story alleging he sends his one-night stands home with a gift basket full of autographed swag — or, in the case of one woman's repeat performance, baskets, plural, because he forgot he'd given her one the first time around.

Jeter and girlfriend Minka Kelly, who rode the New York Yankees' World Series celebration float together in 2009 and were often rumored to be engaged, had an "amicable" breakup this summer after dating for three years. According to the Post, he's been playing the field since then.

An unnamed friend said Jeter, who prefers privacy, typically has lady friends over to his place, rather than taking them out, and then calls a car for them the next morning. "Waiting in his car is a gift basket containing signed Jeter memorabilia, usually a signed baseball," the friend said.

Should we try to learn more about Mr. Jeter, instead of just judging him? Meh, we'll simply sit back and ponder how an EBay listing for one of those baseballs could be worded.

And wonder whether Barbara got a basket after the "Fascinating" interview.

Lady Gaga finally has a penis -- thanks to Jo Calderone [Poll]

Britney Spears and a penis-packing Jo Calderone

Lady Gaga reportedly wore a prosthetic penis to the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, making her Jo Calderone alter ego portrayal seem that much more, um, real.

The dish comes courtesy of an anonymous insider speaking to Us Magazine, and we're simply not going to question it, given the epic nature and societal significance of the revelation.

Another delicious detail? The "drag king" packed that package in Armani underwear, Us said.

Word of the penis no doubt comes as good news to those in the "Lady Gaga is a hermaphrodite" camp, circa 2008. No chorus of "We told you so," please -- it's just as fake as it ever was.

So, did Jo pick up his equipment in the "Entourage" prop room? According to Show Tracker, Vince's fake junk was notably smaller than the Mark Wahlberg falsie available on the "Boogie Nights" set.

Kat Von D back on with Jesse James, done with 'L.A. Ink' [Polls]

Jesse James and Kat Von D

Kat Von D might have broken up with "L.A. Ink," but she and Jesse James are definitely together, engagement ring and all.

News of the couple's late-July breakup came only two days before the fourth season of her just-nixed series premiered, while Von D was doing promotion complete with "L.A. Ink" footage that showed her surprising her fiance with a new tattoo of his face rendered on her abdomen.

James confirmed the reunion to People, saying Thursday, "Sometimes you are only given one chance in life. It was up to me to open my eyes and see it. That girl is my chance." A photo of the couple embracing is up online -- as well as speculation that they had never broken up in the first place.

"The distance between us was just too much," James had said in July, explaining their breakup from his point of view. After his divorce from Sandra Bullock, the West Coast Choppers owner had moved from Sunset Beach to Austin, Texas. Von D operates out of L.A., where she owns High Voltage Tattoo.

The decision to end "L.A. Ink" after this season was made either by the network or at star Kat Von D's request, depending on who you believe. The TLC show, a spinoff of the network's "Miami Ink," followed her from Miami to L.A.

"In an effort to capitalize on my recent breakup," the tattoo artist told People, "the network has decided to focus their energy on re-editing events that didn't happen during filming. ... In my opinion, any attempt to compromise the honesty of that would be an insult to my fans and my viewers."

Does this mean we shouldn't hold our breath for "Austin Ink"?

Emma Watson's first crush: 'Harry Potter' costar Tom Felton

Emma Watson reveals 'Harry Potter' crush is Tom Felton

Emma Watson had an on-set "Harry Potter" crush — and it wasn't for the guy who played Ron Weasley.

The "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2" star revealed that while filming the first two "Harry Potter" films, her 11-year-old self had a "huge crush" on costar Tom Felton, who plays bleached-blond Slytherin nemesis Draco Malfoy.

"He was my first crush," the actress tells Seventeen magazine. "He totally knows. We talked about it — we still laugh about it. We are really good friends now, and that's cool."

Felton now has a long-term girlfriend, Jade Olivia, whom he met three years ago when she was a stunt coordinator's assistant on the "Harry Potter" set. But our Muggle minds are still whirring with the possibilities in a Draco Malfoy-Hermione Granger romance. Could the mudblood-hating pureblood actually have gone for the frizzy-haired, know-it-all witch? Sounds like the makings of some incredibly fun fan fiction, and members of the Draco-Hermione camp must be ecstatic right about now.

Emma Watson on Seventeen magazine's August cover But Watson doesn't count her feelings for Felton as a "celebrity crush."

"I've never understood having crushes on people who you don't know in real life. I only crush on people I meet," she said. "I mean, I can appreciate that someone is good-looking, obviously, but I don't intend to fantasize about people I don't know!"

The Brown University dropout also dished about her alternative prospects had she not become the brainy best friend of a certain lightning-scarred wizard.

"If I hadn't done 'Harry Potter,' I would have gone and done years of art. I really do love it, and I'd love to write," she said.

At 21, Watson is currently brushing up on her American accent for the film "Perks of Being a Wallflower," trying her best to not sound like Paris Hilton. Listen to her Yankee voice here.

Kim Kardashian: Keeping up with the wedding gift registry picks

Kim Kardashian's wedding registry just as fancy as Kim Kardashian's engagement ring?

Kim Kardashian apparently hasn't had time to lay in enough fine china on her way to reality TV stardom. And while most brides go modest for their second wedding, Kardashian is repeatedly proving that she isn't most brides, with her wedding registry choices the most recent illustration of that.

As if that honking 20.5-carat engagement ring wasn't enough.

The 30-year-old, affianced to the New Jersey Nets power forward Kris Humphries, has registered at the tony Gearys boutique in Beverly Hills, as well as relatively wallet-friendly Williams-Sonoma, though the latter has been removed from public view online. But her sumptuous Gearys wish list adds up to about $172,000 in luxury housewares, the New York Daily News reported.

The fashionista's already decadently furnished home, which she obsessed over after she and Reggie Bush broke up, has been seen on her reality series "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."

Well, what do you buy a girl who has everything (and in this case is reportedly worth $35 million)? We asked ourselves a similar question when Prince William and the former Kate Middleton's royal wedding came around. Different women, different answers.

Kardashian and Humphries' Gearys registry cites  an Oct. 31 wedding date, but a source close to the couple said the bride won't be having Halloween ceremony. (Tell that to the circus of items she's zapped with that registry gun.)

"That's just a joke," the insider told E! News. "They're not announcing the real date just yet." Perhaps, Kardashian is able to keep some things a secret.

Now, on to her list of newlywed must-haves:

18 Hermes Balcon du Guadalquivir black cereal bowls -- $155 each
18 Hermes Balcon du Guadalquivir platinum presentation plates -- $670 each
24 Hermes American dinner plates -- $225 each
1 Christofle 1925 coffee pot - $1,650 Matching creamer and sugar bowl -- $1,710
2 Havana ashtrays -- $840 (that's a pricey place to put out a cigarette)
1 extra large Baccarat crystal vase -- $7,850
1 Baccarat crystal jam jar -- $380
1 antique ebony tray by Baccarat -- $1,595
1 Baccarat mustard jar -- $175
5 $150 L'Objet gold napkin rings with crystal -- $175
1 candy jar -- $375
1 ice tong -- $195
1 Lalique Cactus flacon -- $450  (if you're wondering what a flacon is, consult a French romance from the 1800s)

Emma Watson says she left Brown because of fame, not bullies

Emma Watson: fame from Hermione Granger made her leave Brown

Emma Watson, the "Harry Potter" star rumored to have been bullied out of Brown University, is finally addressing the real reason she ended her collegiate run: fame.

"I was in denial," Watson told Britain's Sunday Times' Style Magazine, explaining how the spotlight affected her decision to leave the Rhode Island university. "I wanted to pretend I wasn't as famous as I was. I was trying to seek out normality, but I kind of have to accept who I am, the position I'm in and what happened."

Emma Watson Last August, after wrapping filming on the eighth movie in the franchise, she famously opted for a pixie haircut to distance herself from her character Hermione Granger's long tresses.

In March, she announced she would be taking time off from Brown to complete her responsibilities on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2" and focus on "other professional and acting projects."

Rumors that the 21-year-old had been bullied out of the institution followed soon after, when a report said quip-slinging classmates had mocked her for her fictional bookworm persona.

"It made me so sad when all this stuff came out that I left Brown because I was being bullied," she said. "It made no sense at all. Brown has been the opposite."

At the time, her rep denied bullying caused the actress to leave Brown, and Watson now insists that her cohorts didn't even seem to care about her celebrity.

"I've never even been asked for an autograph on campus. I threw a party for nearly 100 students, and not a single person put a photo on Facebook," she said. "Anyway, even if I was being given a hard time, I wasn't going to wuss out of university because someone said 'Wingardium leviosa' to me in a corridor, or 'Ten points for Gryffindor.'

"I've been dealing with the media since I was 9. If I can't stand up to a few people giving me a hard time, it's a bit pathetic, really. I've had so much worse."

Watson was said to have arranged a transfer to another university to pursue a course of study not offered at Brown; however, her recent declaration implies that she may be taking a longer academic hiatus.

The face of Lancome, who took a break from filming "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" to present a clip from the ultimate chapter in the "Harry Potter" saga at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, added that her intimidating "fame wall" also made it harder to date.

But Watson isn't the only "Harry Potter" star trying to divorce her magical child-star persona. Franchise lead Daniel Radcliffe, who played the boy wizard for a decade, has also said he's ready to move on from Hogwarts and its magical realm. Read more about that here.

Was Watson wise to leave Brown? Are you sad to see her run as Hermione Granger end? Tell us in comments.

Khloe Kardashian 'loves' her six-minute, televised nipple slip

Khloe Kardashian exposes nipple on 'Fox and Friends'

Khloe Kardashian had a serious wardrobe malfunction -- a nipple slip to be exact -- on national television Tuesday morning during an appearance with sister Kourtney Kardashian on Fox News Channel's "Fox and Friends."

While promoting the upcoming season of their reality show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," Khloe, a.k.a. Mrs. Lamar Odom, went braless in a sheer black blouse with strategically placed opaque panels. As the interview went on, however, her right breast went rogue, slipping out from behind the thicker fabric and making an appearance of its own through the sheer fabric -- for a full six minutes. Without anyone involved noticing except lots of the folks watching at home on TV.

Talk about now you see it, now you -- well, now you still see it.

The fashionista had been concealing the region with her long hair, but seemed to forget to keep the area in check throughout the show. Later, a Twitter follower alerted the youngest Kardashian sister of the nip-slip, to which she replied "Thank God! I ... love nipples!!!!"

We're sure Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake did too, just as much as CBS loved that $550,000 fine the FCC slapped on the network after the notorious "wardrobe malfunction" Super Bowl halftime show in 2004. But, hey, this is cable, no? We'll see how this plays out for Fox News, which already slipped up Monday by mistakenly using a photo of Tina Fey to illustrate a story about Sarah Palin.

Anyway, the Kardashian sisters moved on to "Live! With Regis and Kelly," where 79-year-old Regis Philbin was taken by the scantily clad Khloe.

"All he's trying to do is not look," cohost Kelly Ripa said.

The sisters gave him permission to check her out and Khloe even went over and did a little shimmy for Philbin, who's leaving the program in the near future.

When asked if he was confused, he answered, "Confused? No, I'm amused -- and very happy about it!"

Khloe, whose abundant presence in E! reality series documents her home and professional life (with and without clothes), didn't seem too remorseful about the incident.

"My mom just called me saying my nip slip is 'all over the internet!' Ha! Is it weird that I love it?! Who knew nipples were so special?" she tweeted.

Indeed.

How Kim Kardashian's 20.5-carat engagement ring from Kris Humphries compares with other sparklers [Poll]

Kim Kardashian's 20.5 carat engagement ring from Kris Humphries Kim Kardashian's engagement ring from Kris Humphries could be stealing the reality TV starlet's spotlight.

The 20.5-carat custom-designed piece made a public appearance on Kardashian's finger when she and Humphries were catching an international flight from LAX on Wednesday, Us Weekly reported.

The platinum ring features a 16.5-carat emerald cut center stone placed between two 2-carat trapezoids. Humphries had the ring designed after a replica of a ring Kardashian had coveted at a young age, according to People. And no, it wasn't a ring pop, but it might as well have been.

"In high school, I went to Macy's and bought this fake ring, my 'perfect' ring, and this is almost the exact same,” she told the magazine. Friend and jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz turned that "perfect ring" into the dazzler she's sporting now.

"I just knew I wanted it to be big!" Kardashian said. "It's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen."

The ring's estimated worth is at least $1 million, but others appraise it at double that price.

So, how heavy is that bad boy? Roughly 4 ounces, the New York Daily News reported, comparing the stud to a deck of cards on your finger. Talk about a full wrist workout...

But Kardashian's ring isn't the only lavish looker out there. Here are a few other swoon-worthy sparklers, some of which lasted longer than the couples:

Kim Kardashian's engagement ring Hilary Duff's ring from hockey player Mike Comrie: 14 carats, $1 million

Khloé Kardashian's ring from Lakers star Lamar Odom: $850,000

Beyonce's ring from mogul Jay-Z: 18 carats, $5 million

Carrie Underwood's ring from hockey player Mike Fisher: 12 carats, $800,000

Christina Aguilera's ring from Jordan Bratman: 20 carats, $54,000

Jessica Simpson's ring from NFL player Eric Johnson: 8 carats, $100,000

Paris Hilton's rings from billionaire Paris Latsis: 24 carats, $5 million, and 15 carats, $2.1 million

Jennifer Lopez's ring from Ben Affleck: 6 carats, $1.2 million.

Kate Middleton's ring from Prince William: 18 carats, $265,000

Perhaps marrying an athlete, actor or royalty is the way to go?

What do you think of Kardashian's bling? Take the poll and tell us in comments.

Estella Warren allegedly crashes into parked cars, is arrested and attempts to flee

Estella Warren arrested This post has been corrected. See the note at the bottom for details.

Actress Estella Warren was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of felony drunk driving after allegedly crashing her Toyota Prius into parked cars and attempting to escape authorities.

The "Planet of the Apes" and "Kangaroo Jack" actress was arrested around 11 p.m. Monday near her home in the 600 block of Harper Avenue in West Los Angeles, LA Now reported. Warren, a former Victoria's Secret model and Maxim's hottest woman of 2000, showed signs of intoxication.

When she was detained, she wiggled out of her handcuffs, kicked the officer and tried to run out of the police station, TMZ reported. As a result, Warren will likely face escape charges in addition to assault, hit and run and DUI charges.

"She was uncooperative and demanding," the rep added.

The actress was booked at 3:10 a.m. and released at 2:35 p.m. after posting bail at $100,000, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department website. The site also indicated that the actress was born in 1970, making her 40, not 32 as other reports have indicated.

She is set to appear in court June 14.

For the Record, 7:59 p.m. May 24: An earlier version of this post said a representative for the L.A. County Sheriff's Department told People that "Warren hit three parked cars in what was considered three separate collisions." The Sheriff’s Department has since told The Times that the People report was in error, and the quote has been removed.

Justin Bieber fires back at Marg Helgenberger for 'brat' comment; smooches Selena Gomez

Marg Helgenberger and Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber
has yet to make a Belieber out of Marg Helgenberger, the "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" actress who said the Biebs was a "brat" when he guest starred on the CBS show.

Helgenberger, who plays investigator Catherine Willows on the series, recently dished to the radio station Europe 1 when she was asked how it was to work with the pop star.

"I shouldn't be saying this, but he was kind of a brat," Helgenberger said. "He was very nice to me. But he locked one of the producers in a closet, and he put his fist through a cake that was on the cast's table."

OK, diva much?

Bieber appeared on two episodes of "CSI," playing bad boy Jason McCann. Maybe he was just getting into character? When asked if she thought he was a good actor, Helgenberger gave a safer answer.

"Justin Bieber wasn't bad. But he'd never acted before.... He's better than you'd think," she said.

But the "Never Say Never 3D" star seems to think he was better than that.

"it's kinda lame when someone you met briefly and never worked with comments on you. I will continue to wish them luck and be kind," he tweeted Monday, adding "dont spread gossip and dont spread rumors about others...im a kid and i know that. #respect"

But he didn't stop there.

"I know who i am and sometimes people r just going 2 say what they want. Keep ur head up and be the man ur mama raised. #killemwithkindness," he wrote, which, yet again, led to the hashtag becoming a top trend on the micro-blogging site.
