PREACH IT! In which we report yet another crazy fact about Katy Perry and Russell Brand's wedding [poll]

Russell Brand and Katy Perry arrive in India for their wedding.

By now we all know that Katy Perry and Russell Brand got married Saturday in India. We know this in part because a bunch of journalists were in the neighborhood of the wedding and managed to file a report in between threats by security goons.

The most shocking aspect of their wedding? Not the price tag. Not the setting. It's the fact that, if reports are correct, Perry and Brand married without a prenuptial agreement.

We here at Preach It! have interviewed many a celebrity divorce lawyer over the years. You will be hard pressed to find a single one of them who thinks that the Perry-Brand decision is anything but certifiably insane.

In fact, when they aren't sitting around, eating kittens and filing their teeth into sharp points, celebrity attorneys will tell you that prenup-free star weddings are extremely rare. As in, nearly nonexistent.

After all, we're talking about a class of people that draws up contracts before they even move in with a significant other. They’re call co-habitation agreements. Would-be significant others are routinely asked to sign them before they’re offered the privilege of shacking up with a star.

So what, you may ask, does a typical celebrity prenup look like?

Newlyweds Katy Perry, Russell Brand head to the Maldives for honeymoon

Russell Brand on safari during the weekend of his wedding to Katy Perry

After elaborate nuptials Saturday at a tiger sanctuary in India, Katy Perry and Russell Brand headed off on a chartered jet to the Maldives on Monday to start their honeymoon.

Bodyguards scuffle with photographers during Russell Brand Katy Perry wedding weekend A Christian minister who's a longtime Perry family friend performed a "private and spiritual ceremony," the newlyweds said in a statement, and Perry briefly confirmed the marriage via  Twitter on Sunday. The bride reportedly wore a dove gray Elie Saab gown.

Local officials have more of a hangover than a honeymoon -- they're investigating whether any noise or disturbance laws were broken during the event, E! News reports.

Meanwhile, two Brand bodyguards who tangled Friday with four news photographers and left them stranded in a tiger park issued an apology acknowledging "physical assault" and "bad behavior." Police let the matter go after the written apology.

In other Katy Perry news: Monday is the singer's 26th birthday.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand marry in India (for real, this time)

Katy perry russell brand Just two days before she turned 26, Katy Perry tied the knot Saturday with Russell Brand at the Aman-e-Khas luxury resort in a tiger reserve in northwestern India's Ranthambhore National Park.

Since the fortune-telling parrot on site predicted a happy marriage, we say not only congrats, but, whew. Finally.

The whirlwind of media speculation about the musician and comic's union has run from whether Perry was wearing an Indian-style nose ring on the wrong side (nope, those are just fancy glasses) to guesses on whether they had already made it official. Was it a Freudian slip in June when she told BBC's Graham Norton "that's why I married [Brand]"? It didn't help that Brand was gallivanting around London before this weekend with what might have been his wedding band. Plus, tension heated when Brand's bodyguard got into fisticuffs with photographers last week.

As if wedding planning weren't stressful enough, Brand somehow also managed to release a book (complete with a Shepard Fairey-designed cover) and take on the paparazzi at LAX. Meanwhile, Perry had her own scandal sans-Brand with that whole "Sesame Street" cleavage incident (and also found time to make fun of the debacle on "Saturday Night Live.")

Russell Brand bodyguards accused of attacking news photographers during India wedding weekend

Russell Brand in India for his wedding to Katy Perry Looks as if a couple of Russell Brand's bodyguards may have decided the comic and bride-to-be Katy Perry really should get to choose their own wedding photographers.

With Brand and his safari party looking on Friday in an Indian tiger reserve near the resort where he and Perry will be married this weekend, two bodyguards allegedly approached a jeep carrying four news photographers — not paparazzi — about 100 yards back. It went downhill from there.

Associated Press photog Mustafa Quraishi said one guard punched their driver in the face and took the keys to the vehicle, then broke and took Qurashi's camera flash and punched him repeatedly him when he jumped out to try to get the keys back. The other bodyguard hit two other photographers who tried to help, Quraishi said.

The four — from Associated Press, Reuters, Agence France Presse and the Hindustan Times — were left stranded in Ranthambore National Park. Park rangers later retrieved the keys from the guards' driver and came to the aid of the bloodied news folks.

Perry wasn't there for the brouhaha. She and Brand have sold exclusive rights to their wedding pics to a London magazine, and no other reporters or photographers will be allowed on the Taj Rambagh Palace property during the six-day event in Jaipur, India.

"The overseas security is fiercely guarding the fort and is showing no mercy to anyone, and the police are supporting them completely,"  a local source told E! Online. All cameras not belonging to invited guests are reportedly being confiscated.

"Greatest gift u can give us is respect & ♥ during this private X. No use wasting ur X w/ STOLEN or FALSE info. Thnku for this," Perry said via Twitter on Tuesday.

In the Katy Perry 'Sesame Street' scandal, is Elmo the real villain? [poll]

Does the video Katy Perry did for "Sesame Street" perhaps offer clues to her fiance Russell Brand's recent arrest on suspicion of battery on a photographer at LAX? Possibly. Brand is alleged to have snapped on his way to security after a paparazzo tried to point a camera up the bride-to-be's skirt -- something Elmo comes dangerously close to doing in the video. You know, if he had a camera.

Witness the evidence of inappropriate activity around Katy's hemline, in several shots taken from the video that producers on Thursday yanked from the "Sesame Street" premiere:

Russell Brand writes about his Kate Moss courtship

Russell Brand Russell Brand belongs to a California Gurl now, but once upon a time the comedian was enamored with British supermodel Kate Moss.

He opens up about the Moss days in his new book, "Booky Wook 2: This Time It's Personal," a sequel to his successful first memoir, "My Booky Wook."

"I had a mad infatuation with her. I didn't feel all cool. It didn't feel like a conquest, it felt like I fell down a well," he said, according to the UK Sun.

Brand recalls one of their first encounters years ago at a concert the blond attended with Jude Law ex Sadie Frost.

"I'd only been famous for about half an hour. Then she sort of looked at me and smiled, then she sent me a text message a bit later, saying, 'Do you wanna meet up?'"

Their relationship ensued among paparazzi and personal assistants. Now that he's engaged to pop star Katy Perry, Brand's only concern is Moss' feelings over being written about.

"What I tried to do is some sort of portrait of a contemporary goddess. I hope it [wasn't] too personal because all I wanted to render was what it was like to be in the glow of such a figure, for a brief period. That's all I was trying to get across."

We dare say she likely won't mind.

Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' video: a sweet, sexy candy land

We love Lady Gaga here at the Ministry, but must admit the latest confection from Katy Perry, "California Gurls," is so much more delicious than "Alejandro," with its "A Scanner Darkly" vibe.

Katy perry lady gaga The full clip for Perry's summer track, featuring Snoop Dogg, hit the Web on Tuesday. It boasts a Candy Land theme that would make Willy Wonka blush.

From Gummi Bears flipping the bird to cotton candy panties, director Mathew Cullen has plenty of surprises packed in his sweet tooth. Don't miss the creatively packaged backup dancers (the jello reveal is our fave), an amazing tube dress and pumps made out of candy dots.

And as for that Lady Gaga and Katy Perry tiff we told you about last week -- Perry has backtracked a wee bit.

Russell Brand's fiancee insists that it was "more of a non-specific, general thing" when she tweeted a blanket statement that blasphemous imagery was like a comedian "telling a fart joke" for cheap laughs. That as opposed to a direct dig at Gaga's choices in the "Alejandro" video.

What do you think of Katy's comments on Gaga? And her video for "California Gurls"?

Katy Perry's taming of Russell Brand, as told by Judd Apatow

Katy perry russell brand The evolution of Russell Brand is remarkable by many accounts, from embattled drug addict and flailing comedian to Hollywood's premier Brit funnyman.

Among his biggest champions is director and producer Judd Apatow, who saw Brand's star rise with roles in the Adam Sandler comedy "Bedtime Stories" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."

Now Brand is getting ready to take on a new role in addition to his lead in "Get Him to the Greek" -- as husband to singer Katy Perry.

"I think they're a great couple, and I got to see the whole arch of Russell," Apatow said of the change in Brand, while at Tuesday night's Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards.

"I got to see Russell tamed up close."

In terms of stickiness, Apatow is confident the pair's burning is an eternal flame.

"He fell in love and fully committed ... once he makes the choice, he commits. He’ll do six hours of yoga a day or whatever he needs to do," the director said.

Apatow attended the awards ceremony with his wife, Leslie Mann, at the Hyatt Regency in Century City, where Women in Film and Jacob's Creek presented trophies to Zoe Saldana, Courteney Cox-Arquette and Apatow's boss, Universal Studios co-chair Donna Langley.

"She's one of my biggest supporters, so I'm happy to come out and get drunk in her honor," he said.
