Mark Wahlberg, Alan Cumming's pants hit HBO's Emmy party

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer cuddle at HBO

HBO's competitors may have been smiling Monday morning, given ABC's dent in the cable network's usual awards domination, but for the Ministry's purposes? No one parties like HBO.

Lighting up a rather predictable party circuit for the Emmys, HBO took over the Pacific Design Center's outdoor courtyard, transforming it into a floral and fiery tableau for famous folks. And that's without considering Alan Cumming's pants.

A newly single Joe Manganiello ducked in to greet his "True Blood" employers before heading home for an early call time (presumably on the just-started "Magic Mike"). He passed by HBO talent, including the boys of "Entourage," Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon and Rex Lee, toasting their final season.

Mark Wahlberg made a show-stopping entrance, halting conversation for the likes of Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, John Stamos and Amanda Peet.

Olivia Munn made nice with rapper Kid Cudi as anchor Maria Menounos circulated in a gorgeous Ungaro gown, smiling at Lisa Bonet with her "Conan the Barbarian" man Jason Moma, who earned the HBO invite flexing his mojo as Khal Drogo in "Game of Thrones."

In the "Huh?" category, the notoriously rowdy Paz de la Huerta had the right measurements in a pink strapless gown but accented that with confounding, cadaver-colored lips and a mess of black hair. Likewise, Cumming hosted his own party -- on a floral, embroidered pair of harem pants.

Luckily the lovely Claire Danes was a palate cleanser. And for dessert? Scott Caan and a tall brunet were spotted driving off into the night just after the stroke of midnight.

Paz de la Huerta of 'Boardwalk Empire' pleads guilty in bar fight

Paz de la Huerta pleads guilty
Paz de la Huerta, the "Boardwalk Empire" actress arrested in March on assault charges after a girl-on-girl bar fight in New York, ended the drama Thursday by pleading guilty to harassing "The City" star Samantha Swetra.

De la Huerta said she was "extremely glad this is over." With the original five misdemeanor counts reduced to a violation, she's looking at one day of community service and 12 weeks of alcohol counseling.

A punch and a glass thrown by the actress during the hotel-bar brawl left MTV reality star Swetra with a bloodied nose and an unsolicited view of De la Huerta's breast. According to the criminal complaint, fighting words were thrown as well: "I'm a real actress -- HBO. She's a publicity-seeker, a fake actress."

Ouch.

That alcohol counseling might come in handy the next time Hollywood's award season rolls around: De la Huerta was filmed in January being turned away from a Golden Globes after-party for being too drunk.

Clad in a formal gown that also allowed for a nipple slip, she then tripped on a curb and fell in a gutter on the way back to her ride.

Paz de la Huerta of 'Boardwalk Empire' charged with assault

Paz de la Huerta has been charged with assault. Paz de la Huerta of "Boardwalk Empire" was arraigned Tuesday in New York on assault and other charges related to a wee-hours altercation with another actress in March at the Standard hotel bar.

De la Huerta was arrested around 4 a.m. March 20 after throwing a glass at actress-model Samantha Swetra and punching her in the face, leaving her nose bloodied, authorities said in court documents.

The HBO actress, who according to the New York Daily News took a header, accidentally baring a breast, after flirting with a guy at Swetra's table, where Lindsay Lohan was among those along for the ride. Swetra's snarky commentary on De la Huerta's level of intoxication sent the latter lady into a rage, with a punch and a glass flying and connecting, eyewitnesses said.

Prosecutors alleged that De la Huerta later delivered some cutting comments of her own to police: "I'm a real actress -- HBO. She's a publicity-seeker, a fake actress," she said, according to the criminal complaint.

Swetra was in the cast of "The City," an MTV reality show that followed Whitney Port of "The Hills" as she moved to New York to work for designer Diane von Furstenberg. De la Huerta plays the hot-tempered onetime girlfriend of Steve Buscemi's Nucky Thompson character on "Boardwalk Empire."

De la Huerta, who did not speak or suffer any wardrobe malfunctions during her court appearance, was released Tuesday without having to post bail. Charged with five misdemeanors (two counts of third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, attempted assault and harassment, TMZ said), she's due back in court May 19.

This isn't the first time De la Huerta has found herself in a difficult situation in the wee hours of the night: In January, she was turned away from a Golden Globe Awards after-party at Chateau Marmont for being too drunk. Paparazzi caught the rejection -- including her pretty bad fall and pretty embarrassing nipple slip in that very pretty party dress -- on video.

Remember, kids, the Globes are the only awards show with an open bar. Perhaps for a reason?
