Neil Patrick Harris signs 'more,' 'done' -- but not 'dirty diaper'

Neil Patrick Harris talked babies and love on "The Talk" on Monday, and watching him re-create baby sign language could be one of the cutest things ever.

"Fatherhood's hilarious," he said, especially now that brother and sister Gideon and Harper, his twins with partner David Burtka, have turned 1 and are a bit more communicative.

They know some sign language -- how to say "more," for example, and "I'm done" -- but there's one situation in which no sign is necessary: "Daddy, I have a dirty diaper."

"I don't know that you need a sign for that," Harris explained, deadpan. "You pretty much know right away. That reveals itself."

NPH explained a recent semi-scandalous quote in Out magazine in which he said some days he's madly in love with Burtka, and other days he questions whether their relationship will work out and is meant to be.

He didn't want to make it sound like their relationship was perfect every minute of every day, he said. Eight years into what he called a healthy relationship, "you need to be constantly redefining what that means  ... with that comes moments when you're not so in love with each other. I think that's pretty normal.

"But we're in a super awesome place right now; he's a great dad and a great guy."

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka celebrate his star on the walk of fame

Neil Patrick Harris, one of the more diverse stars in the show business constellation, received his own star Thursday on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

The "How I Met Your Mother" man turned up for the ceremony with fiance David Burtka, both looking spiffy in suits as fans cheered behind barricades. The real estate bearing his name was appropriately planted beside the Pantages Theatre, perhaps a nod to his Broadway roots.

Showing support for the star were odd couple Jason Segel, Harris' "Mother" costar, and "Avengers" director Joss Whedon, who directed the viral hit "Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog" with Harris in the title role.

Numerous credits including his child-star making "Doogie Howser, M.D.," his appearance on "Glee," the upcoming indie "The Best and the Brightest" and his turn as theater director for the Hollywood Bowl's staging of "Rent" were shouted out by master of ceremonies Leron Gubler, the president and chief exec of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Neil Patrick Harris draws on a fan's face "Neil has been entertaining us in television, stage, the Internet and film for over 60 years," Segel joked, introducing Harris to the crowd.

Harris was light and charismatic in his speech, thanking the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for the honor. And while the Pantages may have been a wink to his time on the boards, he was more amused with the other establishment his star sits in front of: legendary dive bar the Frolic Room.

"This won't be the first time I've been plastered on the sidewalk in front of the Frolic Room," he said.

A few elated fans got autographs (and one of them a hand-drawn handlebar moustache) courtesy of Harris, while a more cynical crowd — the paparazzi — chatted about a recent bomb scare only blocks away at the Hollywood & Highland complex.

Luckily, only applause erupted on the boulevard Thursday.

Tim Gunn and George Lopez at "The Smurfs" premiere Big Hollywood names found it quite easy being blue on Sunday for the New York City premiere of "The Smurfs."

Katy Perry flirted in a custom mini invoking Smurfette, the character she voices in the CGI/live-action hybrid flick that opens Friday. The dress came via the Blonds, prolific costumers for the likes of Rihanna, Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga.

Snuggling up with a life-sized Smurfette on the indigo carpet, Perry was joined by her film costars Neil Patrick Harris with fiance David Burtka, Sofia Vergara, George Lopez, Hank Azaria,  Jayma Mays of "Glee," and "Project Runway" guru Tim Gunn (yes, he's a costar).

George Lopez, Brooke Shields, Oliver Platt, Joey Fatone, Melissa Joan Hart and singer Kimberly Locke caught the Ziegfeld Theatre screening as well.

Neil Patrick Harris, engaged, cheers gay marriage going legal in New York

Neil Patrick Harris: gay marriage legal in New York

Neil Patrick Harris cheered New York's move to make gay marriage legal, revealing that he and partner David Burtka have been engaged and would love to have a wedding.

"David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago!" the "How I Met Your Mother" star tweeted Saturday. "We've been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date."

Harris was vocal on Twitter before and after the landmark vote Friday, posting, "I'd sure love to get married. Please, NY Senate, vote in favor of marriage equality today. My family would really appreciate it," followed by an ecstatic, "It PASSED! Marriage equality in NY!! Yes!! Progress!! Thank you everyone who worked so hard on this!! A historic night!"

The actor, who recently hosted the Tony Awards, already has two children with fiance Burtka; fraternal twins Harper and Gideon were born in October.

Joking with People in December, he said the callus from his ring was hurting on his right hand, then gestured to his left hand and added, "It'd be nice to move the ring over here someday."

Now he can.

Lady Gaga, Neil Patrick Harris take to Twitter to celebrate DADT repeal vote

Lady-gaga-dadt Given her use of Twitter to decry the Pentagon's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, Lady Gaga, of course, would lead the way on the social media platform to celebrate the Senate's repeal vote.

"Can't hold back the tears [and] pride. We did it! Our voice was heard...today the Senate REPEALED DADT. A triumph for equality after 17 YEARS," she tweeted, followed by a photo of herself holding a piece of paper reading "Full Equality."

Plenty of other celebs joined in celebrating the repeal, which removes the policy requiring LGBT military officers to remain silent about their identities to serve.

"Don't Ask, Don't Tell REPEALED! So proud of Congress for making the right decision. Now all soldiers can serve with integrity. A great day," Neil Patrick Harris wrote.

Ellen DeGeneres thanked senators for bringing the country "one step closer towards full eqaulity," while Katy Perry retweeted singer Pink, who gave a shout-out to all troops and remarked, "there's hope after all."

Neil Patrick Harris is a new dad on the move -- literally

Neil Patrick Harris does Angry Birds

Oh, to have Neil Patrick Harris' multi-tasking skills. The triple-threat star and new dad is managing a lot of work and family life at the moment, including his hosting gig Saturday at the eighth annual Spike TV Video Game Awards.

Word backstage at the show, held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, was that Harris is wrapping up "How I Met Your Mother" duties, managing his 2-month-old babies with partner David Burtka, and moving to a new home in Los Angeles.

"Neil is so good that we really don't worry about anything," Spike TV's live events producer Casey Patterson said. "This is his third show, he's a total pro."

Harris previously vacated a bachelor pad in Studio City in 2007, moving into a $1.5-million Sherman Oaks home. Details on his newer new place are scarce, but we imagine he and Burtka need space for their little ones to roam.

Other celebs on hand for the show included Olivia Munn, "Thor" cutie Chris Hemsworth, actor Danny DeVito, lovebirds Rick Fox and Eliza Dushku, and Charlie Sheen's ex Denise Richards.

Matthew Morrison, Neil Patrick Harris and 'Modern Family' cast at 'Leap of Faith' opening

Matthew Morrisson, Neil Patrick Harris

Opening night for the new Broadway-bound musical "Leap of Faith" for a moment seemed more like a TV Land party than the typical crowd on a Sunday night at the Ahmanson Theatre.

Leap-of-faith-gallery-refer Gathered off to the side (and later seated together inside the theater) were cast members from the ABC series "Modern Family" — Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson — there to cheer on Stonestreet’s girlfriend, Katherine Tokarz, a “Leap of Faith” ensemble member. (Click the pic of new parents Courtney Mazza and Mario Lopez, right, to launch a photo gallery of red carpet arrivals.)

Matthew Morrison of "Glee" greeted "Leap of Faith" director-choreographer Rob Ashford in the courtyard before stopping by the red carpet for a quick photo. Neil Patrick Harris of “How I Met Your Mother," with his partner, actor David Burtka, waved to friends in the audience as he took his seat toward the front of the orchestra section.
