Michael Lohan: No contest means no jail in domestic violence case

Michael Lohan struck a plea deal in his Florida domestic violence case

Michael Lohan pleaded no contest Wednesday to domestic violence charges against Kate Major, and in trade for the plea got sentenced in a Florida court to two years' probation, four months in a residential treatment facility, a domestic-violence intervention program and no contact at all with his ex-girlfriend.

That's right -- no jail. Unless, of course, he messes up while on probation. Which, given that he's a Lohan, wouldn't seem impossible.

Judge Nick Nazaretian, who at one point had scolded Lohan for acting like a child, explained that when it came to seeing Major, "No contact is nothing. Zero. Minus zero." The 51-year-old told the judge it was no problem staying away from his former fiancee. "My hand has been bit too many times," he said.

Then again, Lohan acted like he understood when a different judge told him in October that he'd be in trouble if he even "dreamed about" his ex -- mere days before his rearrest for contacting her. That, of course, was the time he hurt his foot when he attempted to jump from his balcony to a tree, allegedly to avoid the police at his door.

"I think he needs help,” 29-year-old Major told the court in Hillsborough County, Fla. "Keeping him in jail would be hurting him more." Lohan, initially arrested in Florida on Oct. 25, has been behind bars since the tree-jumping incident on Oct. 27.

She also brought up another incarceration-challenged Lohan. "It's my birthday today," Major told Nazaretian. "A year ago, we were worried about Lindsay."

Replied the judge: "I'm not sure who that is."

Ah, perspective.

Michael Lohan denied bail -- boxing career jeopardized?

Michael Lohan denied bail

Michael Lohan is still behind bars after a judge on Saturday denied him bail, a setback that could get in the way of his daddy and celebrity duties.

After nearly a week of trouble between Lindsay's dad and his former fiancee, Kate Major, the 51-year-old faced Hillsborough Circuit Judge Denise Pomponio at a satellite bail hearing to go over his recent alleged violation of a no-contact order.

Lohan tried to make excuses, but the judge wasn't having it. Not surprising, as only three days earlier, Hillsborough Circuit Judge Walter Heinrich had been very clear -- and fairly ticked off -- about what would happen to Lohan if he "even dreamed about" Major.

"It doesn’t matter if she called you a hundred times after you got out of jail, Judge Heinrich doesn't have a court order on her, he has a court order on you.... It is your responsibility, because you are under the court order," Pomponio told Lohan.

Major, a former Star magazine reporter who also dated Jon Gosselin, testified that Lohan tried to call her five times after being released from custody Wednesday night and sounded intoxicated. An officer who was with Major that night and heard at least one call via speakerphone told the judge that Lohan was nonthreatening and tried to patch things up with his ex during the call.

The problems had started Tuesday, when Lohan was arrested for allegedly beating Major. The ordeal went from bad to just plain bizarre after he complained of chest pains while in custody, was taken to a hospital and then reportedly tried to bolt. When he finally did post bail Wednesday, he rang up Major multiple times, she said. (That was the violation that landed him in front of the judge Saturday.)

Lohan allegedly tried to flee when police arrived at his Tahitian Inn hotel room by jumping 34 feet off the balcony. He suffered a possible broken foot and had to be taken to the hospital before they transferred him to a Hillsborough County jail on Friday night.

Bail was set at $500 on the charge of nonviolently obstructing police, but with no bail on the other charge, the judge wasn't letting Lohan go anywhere. Major, however, might have to go somewhere: She was reportedly given an eviction notice Friday because of the media hubbub she and her ex have sparked around her apartment building.

Michael Lohan's lockdown couldn't come at a worse time for a guy who according to TMZ was planning this coming week to meet with Dr. Drew Pinsky for a TV stint, attend daughter Lindsay Lohan's probation-violation hearing Wednesday in L.A., and participate in a celebrity boxing match Thursday with contestants including Tareq Salahi, the alleged White House party crasher whose wife, Michaele Salahi, ran off with Journey guitarist Neal Schon in September.

Though Tareq Salahi, Jose Canseco, Joey Buttafuoco and Nadya "Octomom" Suleman are all on the card for the pay-per-view boxing match, Lohan is -- was? -- set to go mano-a-mano with O.J. Simpson houseguest Kato Kaelin.

Michael Lohan boomerangs back behind bars in Florida

Michael Lohan is back in jail after making bail once

Though he made bail Wednesday evening, Michael Lohan was back in jail before daylight Thursday after his on-and-off girlfriend Kate Major called police and alleged he was harassing her by phone.

Only hours before, a Florida judge had torn into Lohan while setting bail on the battery charge, asking his attorney about a temporary restraining order that was in place when the 51-year-old was arrested in Tampa on suspicion of battery.

"Does he know how to read? Well, he'd better understand," a stern Judge Walter Heinrich said, aiming his next remarks directly to Lohan: "If you even dream about her, and you violate my order, you will go to jail."

Bail was set at $5,000, and Lohan was out shortly after 6 p.m., telling reporters he'd never laid a hand on Major. At 1 a.m., police received a call from Major saying he'd harassed her over the phone. When they came by to talk to her, police said, Lohan called, and she put him on speaker so the cops could hear for themselves.

Police said they then headed to the hotel where Lohan was staying, only to find that he'd attempted to jump from his third-floor balcony to a tree. He wound up in custody and in the hospital, just like the night before, only this time the complaint was a possibly broken foot, rather than chest pains.

With that sort of behind-bars boomerang time, the guy might be competition for rapper T.I. Also, much like daughter Lindsay getting served with papers notifying her of a civil suit while she attended her court hearing on Oct. 19, Michael Lohan was served with papers during his trip to court Wednesday, with an allegation from ex-wife Dina Lohan that he owes about $11,000 in unpaid child support.

Michael Lohan on Thursday said Major had set him up for the phone call and re-arrest, the St. Petersburg Times reported. "She keeps doing this. She needs help, she calls me, and I'm a sucker so I call her back. I'm an idiot," Lohan said as he was being put into the back of a police cruiser.

He said Major makes money by setting him up and then selling her story. This comes the same week his daughter Lindsay Lohan was reportedly making money posing for Playboy. (The day after that shoot wrapped, she made it back to the coroner's office for a second shift of community service at the morgue.)

One way Michael Lohan won't be making money? As a singer. Shortly before his most recent arrest, TMZ reported, he was caught on video assaulting Don McLean's "American Pie," courtesy of a karaoke machine at the hotel's bar.

Hogging the mike, too. Anyone surprised?

Michael Lohan arrested on domestic abuse charges in Florida

Michael Lohan arrest mug shot

Michael Lohan was arrested early Tuesday in Florida on suspicion of domestic violence after allegedly getting into it with on-and-off girlfriend Kate Major over a scheduled court hearing and, well, maybe a little sumpin' sumpin' else.

"She had some redness on her arms, some minor bruising and it was determined that he grabbed her arm and threw her to the ground a couple of times," Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis told the Associated Press.

Major told police Lohan had showed up at her place with a suitcase, and that she let him in the door to stay on his good side before a Tuesday hearing on whether to make her most recent temporary restraining order against him permanent, according to a police report obtained by TMZ. Lohan later got violent with her and yelled at her about the hearing and because she wouldn't have oral sex with him.

Lohan's version of events, as recorded in that police report? He told police Major was drunk after a night out at a restaurant and needed a ride home, where they had an argument and then had sex and wound up fighting over the details of how to end that encounter. Lohan denied assaulting Major, but said he busted her cellphone on the corner of a table because he was angry.

Lohan was arrested in L.A. in March after an alleged domestic violence incident also involving Major, misdemeanor charges were dismissed after she didn't show up in court in July.

Though the latest incident is hardly the first time Lohan, 51, has been arrested on suspicion of manhandling the ladies in his life, this time there was a new twist: After being taken into custody, he complained of chest pains and was taken to a hospital. When he thought the police had gone, he tried to check himself out and leave, Davis said. Alas, no luck — the officers hadn't gone anywhere.

Major was granted a temporary protective order against her ex-fiance Oct. 3, according to TMZ, after complaining to the court that he'd been harassing and threatening her and her father. Lohan was ordered to stay 500 feet away from her, and prohibited from texting or phoning Major or having her or her father followed.

Lohan, who told police that he and Major moved to Florida to get away from the media attention surrounding his daughter Lindsay Lohan, previously went to prison on attempted assault and aggravated harassment charges, plus a criminal contempt count after he pleaded guilty to violating a protective order obtained against him by his now ex-wife, Dina Lohan.

This was the third restraining order against Lohan that has been sought by Major, 28, a tabloid reporter who dated Jon Gosselin before hooking up with Lohan. Major and Lohan got engaged in April 2010, which could have a little sumpin' sumpin' to do with that one guy and his repeated declarations that the end of the world is nigh.

Lindsay wants to lose her 'Lohan,' mama Dina says

Lindsay wants to drop her last name Lohan There's no denying Lindsay Lohan is sufficiently notorious that her first name is enough for most of the chattering public to know who they're chattering about — and now the starlet is ready to shed her Lohan baggage and just be "Lindsay," her mom says.

At the same time the other Lohan ladies, Dina and Ali, intend to change their surnames to Mom's maiden name, Sullivan, the once-and-future Dina Sullivan told PopEater on Friday.

After comparing Lindsay to Oprah and Beyonce, a family friend  invoked the specter of Michael Lohan, calling the name change "a way for them all to start over. No one in the family want anything to do with Lindsay's father anymore, and that includes sharing a last name."

No mention was made of what might happen to the last names of Lilo's younger brothers Michael Jr. and Cody.

Papa Lohan might have more to worry about right now. He was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence Wednesday after being arrested Monday on suspicion of assault. Though police didn't release the alleged victim's name, Lohan ex-fiancee Kate Major told RadarOnline on Tuesday that she'd been pushed and shoved. "I didn't touch her," Lohan told Radar.

Major (who for a while dated Jon Gosselin) filed a police report against her then fiance in July, alleging that he'd shoved her over a chair and kicked her during an argument. The charges were dropped in August at Major's request.

Meanwhile, attorney Shawn Chapman Holley told prosecutors Wednesday that Lindsay — see, that works, just the one name? — wouldn't accept a plea deal regarding the grand theft charge she faces for allegedly taking a necklace from a Venice boutique.

Michael Lohan arrested, could face felony domestic violence charges

Michael Lohan arrested in domestic violence dispute Lindsay Lohan's father, Michael Lohan, was arrested Monday after allegedly holding his girlfriend against her will and preventing her from calling authorities. He could face several felony charges for the dispute.

Michael Lohan, who will appear on an upcoming season of VH1's "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew" for anger-management treatment, was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, corporal injury on a cohabitant and preventing a report of victimization, L.A. County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told L.A. Now.

Lohan, 51, was booked and bail was set at $200,000. Charges have not yet been filed by the L.A. County district attorney's office.

Deputies answered a call to Lohan's West Hollywood apartment at about 9 p.m. in relation to a domestic dispute, Whitmore said. Lohan was arrested later when deputies saw him roaming Santa Monica Boulevard near the sheriff's station.

After he was booked, Lohan was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to be treated for a "medical condition not related to the incident," the sheriff's department said in a statement. The alleged victim declined medical treatment.

Other reports have said that the altercation involved Lohan's ex-girlfriend Kate Major, whom he allegedly tried to choke with a towel after a violent argument. Major filed a police report against her then-fiance in July, alleging that he'd shoved her over a chair and kicked her during an argument. The charges were dropped in August at Major's request.

Michael Lohan, who has twice done prison time, including once for attempted assault, divorced Lindsay's mother Dina Lohan in 2007.

We've heard "like father, like daughter," but what a way to continue to ride on your kid's coattails -- unless, this is all some twisted plug for the VH1 show. Dr. Drew Pinsky, incidentally, was in Hollywood at the "Super" premiere Monday night.

Michael Lohan takes credit, David Letterman 'apologizes' to Lindsay Lohan [Poll]

Michael Lohan admits booking Lindsay Lohan to do Letterman We're not going to lie -- when the Ministry asked earlier who readers thought  Lindsay Lohan's Letterman-booking "friend" might be, we did have our eyes on a favorite. And were we the betting type, Michael Lohan's yeah-I'm-the-friend admission Wednesday would've paid off.

It wouldn't have been a big jackpot, because given Michael Lohan's track record, the odds were around 3-2 or better that he had a hand in the confusion about whether Lindsay would deliver Thursday's Top 10 list on "Late Show With David Letterman."

Lindsay tweeted Tuesday night that she'd never agreed to a satellite appearance on the show; Michael told TMZ on Wednesday that he was the one who'd set up the deal, allegedly with his daughter's OK, but that her reps put the kibosh on it.

"Anything positive that I bring into her life ... [her people] try to nix it," Michael Lohan said.

One thing that dad did bring into Lilo's life, directly or indirectly, was an apology -- technically speaking -- from Letterman, who seized the opportunity to repeat his Top 10 list joke about her stealing a Grammy from last weekend's award show, and to keep his face absolutely deadpan as he said he hoped he hadn't embarrassed the Lohan family.

"I have no one to blame but myself," Letterman said, "and boy is my face red."

Watch the video and let us know what you think of Letterman's apology.

Lindsay Lohan out of rehab? Not so fast [poll]

Lindsay Lohan in "Mean Girls"

Lindsay Lohan can legally leave rehab as of Monday, but it looks as if she's putting off the transition for at least a few days.

"It's going to be soon. I'm not going to say it's today, but it's a very controlled move," dad Michael Lohan said Monday on CBS' "The Early Show."

"She needs all the right elements in place when she gets out and waiting for that to happen, and she's being very patient about it. I'm so proud of where she is now, and I don't want that to falter. She's really come full turn."

The "Mean Girls" actress has been at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage since shortly after failing a couple of court-ordered drug tests in September. Though she entered voluntarily, in October the judge in the case ordered her to stay through Jan. 3.

She may stay there through Saturday, reported TMZ, which also also had a picture of a truck allegedly moving things from LiLo's West Hollywood condo to a temporary home in Venice Beach.

Report: Lindsay Lohan freed from rehab for Thanksgiving with father Michael

Lindsay-lohan-thanksgiving Although Lindsay Lohan and her dad seem more likely to smash each other on Twitter than break bread across a table, it appears the two spent the Thanksgiving holiday together.

The embattled actress was given a day pass from Rancho Mirage's Betty Ford Center to give thanks with friends and father Michael, according to TMZ.

Citing sources close to Lindsay, the report indicated she was free for about 15 hours, embarking on a two-hour drive to Los Angeles on Thursday morning, and was required to return that evening.

If in fact true, mother Dina, notoriously at odds with her ex, probably had a heaping side of sour grapes with her dinner. It hasn't been an easy few days in Lohan-land -- another report said Dina was attempting to get Lindsay to New York City for the occasion.

In the career department, Lohan's long-discussed role as porn star Linda Lovelace was assumed by actress Malin Akerman.

Do you think Lindsay deserved a break from Betty Ford? Tell us in the comments section below.

PREACH IT! Introducing the Lindsay Lohan-Michael Lohan fallout pool!

Lindsay Lohan and Michael Lohan

Congratulations to Lindsay Lohan and her dad Michael: The two have reconciled after years of estrangement. It couldn't have been easy for Lindsay to agree to see her dad, given her father’s fondness for parading in front of the press, moaning about his daughter's waywardness.

Still, signs of a rapprochement have been in the air for a while. A few weeks before the two reunited in Rancho Mirage at the Betty Ford Center -- where Lohan is cooped up in rehab -- Michael issued a supposedly final note to the media. We won't subject you to it here, but the gist was that Michael would no longer, you know, be parading in front of the press moaning about his daughter's waywardness.

Lindsay, meanwhile, has allowed the thaw in relations as a part of her general recovery.

We sincerely hope that the recovery part sticks. But we can't help but wonder how long the father-daughter reunion will last, given that Michael is as addicted to media attention as Lindsay is to -- well, we'll leave that detail to her counselors.

So how long do you think the thaw will last? Let us know in the comments below. We'll call it a pool. And the winner -- if there is one -- will get a shout out from the Ministry.
