Channing Tatum strips down, spoofs McConaughey for 'SNL'

Channing Tatum strips down for 'SNL'

Channing Tatum tried his hand (and chest) at hosting "Saturday Night Live" on Saturday, winning over audiences with his stripper moves and Matthew McConaughey impersonation.

"The Vow" actor took jabs at his pre-Hollywood days working as a male stripper, the inspiration for this summer's beeftastic "Magic Mike," using his monologue to lay down some ground rules.

"No touching. I can touch you, you can't touch me. Tips are appreciated; the only reason I'm hosting this show is to put myself through nursing school," he said.

After the mandatory abdominal show, Tatum worked his way through sketches playing folks such as Tom Brady and his "Magic Mike" costar Matthew McConaughey.

In a sketch called "Getting Freaky with Cee-Lo," Tatum nails McConaguhey's syrupy Southern drawl and liberated hard body.

A solid showing from Tatum, especially those stripper moves in the monologue, which you can watch below with another clip. All right, all right, all right

First look: the famous cast of male strippers in 'Magic Mike'

The Ministry made its Christmas list and Santa Claus checked it twice -- the Internet has given unto us a first look at Warner Bros' "Magic Mike."

Chronicling the shenanigans of a pack of male strippers, based on the life experiences of Channing Tatum in his pre-Hollywood days, the first image delivers the film's hunky stars working an Uncle Sam routine on the stage.

The still boasts "True Blood" werewolf Joe Manganiello, Alex Pettyfer, newly engaged Matthew McConaughey and Tatum (we can't see you, fella cut off in the far right corner of the above photo, but we like you already). It's directed by "Traffic" filmmaker Steven Soderbergh.

Filmed in Los Angeles and Florida, the project does feature a tone other than lean muscle.

"It's so funny," Manganiello told us in October. "It's like 'Animal House' and 'Hangover' funny. Steven has most of it edited and he's such a good storyteller with that camera."

"Mike" is expected sometime in June. Consider pre-coverage from the Ministry the gift that keeps on giving until it hits theaters.

Matthew McConaughey engaged to Camila Alves

Matthew McConaughey and Camilla Alves are engagedAll right, all right, all right -- Matthew McConaughey is off the market.

Actor and fitness enthusiast McConaughey popped the question to his Brazilian baby mama, Camila Alves, on Christmas, and she agreed to head down the aisle with the "Lincoln Lawyer" star.

Taking to his WhoSay account, the star simply said, "Just asked camila to marry me, merry Christmas."

We'll take their tree-side smooch (pictured left) as confirmation that she said yes. The couple have two children, son Levi, 3, and their little girl, Vida, almost 2.

Alves hosted the Bravo competition show "Shear Genius" in 2010, and designs a collection of handbags called Muxo. McConaughey will next be seen in "Magic Mike," Steven Soderbergh's male-stripper adventure with Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer and Alex Pettyfer.

Reese Witherspoon's (unofficial) wedding checklist

Reese-witherspoon-wedding Reese Witherspoon stayed true to her Southern roots when she wed CAA agent Jim Toth over the weekend.

The Oscar-winning actress married Toth, 40, at her Ojai ranch, which includes a rustic garden and farm boasting horses, donkeys, pigs, goats and chickens, US Weekly reported.

Since we couldn't be there, the Ministry has instead compiled an (un)official wedding checklist that we believe the bride-on-the-go (or her celebrity wedding planner Yifat Oren) had to manage for the 35-year-old's second nuptials.

Reese Witherspoon's Wedding Checklist

Ceremony

Theme: rustic

Venue: courtyard in front of house, beneath a canopy

Ceremony: Christian, about 20 minutes. Officiated by The Rev. Jimmy Bartz, founder of Thad's Church in Santa Monica

Gown: Monique Lhullier, from Paris

Reese-witherspoon-jim-tosh Shoes: Jimmy Choo "Macy" sandal

Wedding rings: William Goldberg + four-carat Ashoka-cut diamond engagement ring

Music: bluegrass band playing "Tennessee Waltz," "Here Comes the Bride" and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken"

Wedding party: Witherspoon's kids with ex-husband Ryan Phillipe -- Deacon, 7 and Ava, 11, and nieces as flower girls

Ushers: BFF Heather Rosenfield's boys

Guests: 150, including A-listers Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin, Salma Hayek, Sean Penn, Scarlett Johansson, Renée Zellweger, Tobey Maguire, Robert Downey Jr., Matthew McConaughey, Camila Alves, Alyssa Milano, Colin Hanks, Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen

Reception

Venue: backyard field, tented

Pre-reception: one-hour cocktail party

Décor: outdoor lanterns, chandeliers in trees, antique furniture, Turkish pillows

Centerpieces: white, lavender and blush flowers in Mason jars, fish catcher lanterns and antique pots.

Caterer: Lucques

Dinner: endive salad with olives and fava beans; wild striped bass with potatoes, chanterelles and garlic; mustard grilled chicken with haricorts vert and herb roasted lamb with braised artichokes

Dessert: wedding cake, dessert table and s'mores lounge

Music: DJ

Favors: gift bags filled with Ojai honey and a local baker's pecan currant scones

We would have preferred a golden-laced cookie of some sort, but we guess that doesn't exactly fit the rustic theme. Still, the guests could have gone home with a basket of free-range chicken eggs, no?

2011 Vanity Fair Oscar party: Impossible glamour (and a taste of In-N-Out Burger)

Natalie Portman at the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar party

With a giant photo of actor James Dean looming over the entrance to Los Angeles' Sunset Tower Hotel, Vanity Fair welcomed an army of stars to its 2011 Academy Awards post-party.

Notoriously exclusive and always glamorous, the annual event did not disappoint as big winners including Natalie Portman, Colin Firth, Melissa Leo and director Tom Hooper came with trophies in hand to greet Editor in Chief Graydon Carter.

Portman was naturally the belle of the ball, hand-in-hand with fiance Benjamin Millipied as countless people congratulated her on her awards-season sweep.

Jude Law palled around with Cameron Diaz and "Contagion" costar Gwyneth Paltrow while Gabrielle Union chatted with Jamie Foxx -- who then ran into his friend Jessica Biel. Biel and Foxx  went off together to circulate while Justin Timberlake stood with Andrew Garfield and his girlfriend.

Gorgeous women weren't in short supply, including newly single Scarlett Johansson, who was engaged in deep conversation with Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter. Though this was Portman's year, few could quite contain themselves when nominee Michelle Williams floated by.

In stunning Chanel haute couture, Williams had a soft glow that stopped conversations and, frankly, assured us she'll make a convincing Marilyn Monroe in the forthcoming "My Week With Marilyn."

Colin Firth at the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar partyLet us not forget Williams' humble roots, however: She looked right at home speaking with former "Dawson's Creek" costar Busy Phillips

Star couples -- including Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, designer Tom Ford and Richard Buckley, Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth, Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt, Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts, and Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann -- put up unified fronts.

But no couple was so convincing as Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, the picture of young Hollywood come to the grown-ups' table, running back and forth between the Tower bar and terrace holding hands (yes, they were). Taylor Swift made an appearance in a gold mini, snacking from a cone full of In-N-Out Burger fries that was getting passed around. Meanwhile, her former flames Jake Gyllenhaal and Joe Jonas worked the crowd.

It's a good year to be a television star, being that many small-screen favorites were invited to film's big night: Sofia Vergara of "Modern Family" and "Glee" folks including Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Matthew Morrison made the scene.

Fellow gleek Dianna Agron showed up, looking nowhere near as traumatized as some since-debunked reports would have her after her split with actor Alex Pettyfer

Matthew McConaughey, Camila Alves welcome baby No. 2

Matt camila Matthew McConaughey is a baby daddy times two, with his girlfriend, Camila Alves. Early Sunday morning, Vida Alves McConaughey joined brother Levi, weighing in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

On his website, the actor confirmed: "'Vida' is Portuguese for 'life' and that's what God gave us this morning ... Camila's recovering wonderfully and we are both truly honored to welcome this little lady into our family ... thanks for all of your well wishes and prayers along the way, another blessed day, we give thanks, just keep living, Matthew and Camila."

The couple — he's 40, and she's 26 — didn't know if it was a boy or a girl until Vida was born. Levi was born July 7, 2008; McConaughey announced the second pregnancy on his blog on Father's Day.

We assume they are still "stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation," as they were for Levi's birth.

Happy baby to all.
