Mariah Carey sued over $30,000 worth of vet bills

Mariah-carey Mariah Carey is being sued by a high-end celebrity vet for nearly $30,000 in unpaid bills for "extraordinary services" rendered between Oct. 31 and Dec. 2, according to the New York Post.

Vet bills can get expensive, we know, especially when an owner has multiple pets -- and the singer has four Jack Russell terriers, with the last joining the family just recently. A rep for the singer told the Associated Press on Thursday that Carey's lawyers haven't seen the lawsuit yet.

But here's the thing: According to the lawsuit, the nearly $38,000 original bill (of which Carey still allegedly owes $29,559) was for a house call to Southern California. Made by Cindy Bressler, a vet from Manhattan. To take care of the dogs while Carey was in L.A. promoting "Precious," including helping with the birth of dog No. 3, Dolomite.

A house call that took a month.

In other Mariah Carey news, TMZ reports the diva's designer has been instructed to bid Friday on an ornate living room set once owned by Michael Jackson -- furniture that could fetch up to $1 million, with bidding starting at $150,000. (Check out the goods for yourself after Page 300 in the auction catalog.)

If Mariah takes home the living room set, maybe she could kick the vet an ottoman or a throw pillow or something, and call it an out-of-court settlement?

Like a virgin with Nick Cannon

Nick_cannon We weren’t too surprised to hear Nick Cannon share on “Lopez Tonight” that Mariah Carey is “the funniest person ever” and has “a great sense of humor.” Hello, how else could she have made a movie like “Glitter”?

But we at the Ministry of Gossip could have done without knowing how the "Drumline" star lost his virginity.

"I was always a little attracted to women that were a little older than me,” Cannon said on the show that aired Wednesday. “I even lost my virginity to an older lady.... I actually ended up crying at the end of the whole ordeal.  She was in high school and I was in junior high ... we were in a sleeping bag. ... I said we should change positions, she was like 'just get off me!'  She ran into the bathroom with all of her friends, and they were in there laughing.”

And then things got awkward:

“I vowed from that day forward no woman would ever laugh at me in the sack again, and that's when the 'Cannon' was born!"

Now that’s the funniest thing ever. And we know. We — like Mimi — have a good sense of humor.

Nick Cannon, Mariah Carey renew wedding vows

Cannon-carey Both clad in white, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon renewed their wedding vows again -- this is planned as an annual event -- in front of about 100 guests at their Beverly Hills home Friday night.

TMZ has pics that make us wonder how hard it was for Nick to say "I do" instead of bursting out with "Look at those two!"

Perhaps the glaring light bouncing off his gift to her left him too blind to notice guests No. 101 and No. 102. Cannon's gift to his bride was a ring based on a sophisticated, classic design, but rendered in higher-end materials.

The 'Precious' posse celebrates after sweeping Film Independent Spirit Awards

Precious After sweeping Friday's Film Independent Spirit Awards, the "Precious" posse was already planning its Oscar onslaught on Sunday.

Best actress winner Gabourey Sidibe, who literally kicked off her shoes before arriving at the press tent at L.A. Live, said she's looking forward to focusing on one thing. "Usually during the Oscars, I'm pissed off because there's a new ‘Simpsons' episode," she gleefully told reporters after snagging her honor. "This time, I'll be paying attention because I'll be there."

Best supporting actress Mo'Nique, who's considered by many to be a shoo-in for an Oscar, said she was planning on not planning an acceptance speech "because I think the universe will say, ‘You've got a lot of nerve.'"

And director Lee Daniels revealed his plans for Oscar night attire: "I'm wearing Spanx."

Hey, what do you expect from a guy who managed to make Mariah Carey look frumpy?

La Carey was definitely frump-free Friday, although ...

Marion Cotillard, Sean Penn and Quentin Tarantino hit the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards

Marionhead Just because they weren't leaning on the open bar doesn't mean the sober stars attending the 21st Annual Palm Springs Film Festival shouldn't get some love.

Mariah Carey may have stolen the spotlight with her spirited speech, but other heavyweights did show face at the Palm Springs Convention Center for the awards presentation.

Sean Penn attended the bash for his third consecutive year, presenting an achievement award to composer T Bone Burnett for his work on "Crazy Heart." After the show, Penn attended the celeb-packed Parker for cocktails with gay activist Cleve Jones (instrumental in the making of Penn's Oscar-winning "Milk") and directors Jason Reitman and Quentin Tarantino.

Nearby, Marion Cotillard gushed about receiving her best actress award for "Nine," so soon after her 2008 breakthrough award win for "La Vie en Rose."

Also in the crowd were Clint Eastwood, who drove himself to the event, and "Jennifer's Body" mastermind Diablo Cody

Jeff Bridges, star of "Crazy Heart," made it to the shindig to snag his trophy -- presented by Michelle Pfeiffer -- but with a bad case of walking pneumonia. Perhaps Mariah has a cure for what ails him?

Mariah Carey a bit 'relaxed' during her Palm Springs film festival acceptance speech. We are shocked.

Mariah2 Well, isn't this precious!

Mariah Carey took home the award for breakthrough actress at the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards Tuesday night, earning it for her surprising performance in "Precious."

Too bad she didn't just stuff that big ol' statue in her tiny little evening bag and take it home, literally, immediately, without stopping to deliver a rambling acceptance, um, "speech." (Check out the video here.)

The singer's epic dissertation is one for the celeb-gossip ages, albeit unfortunately timed -- considering her nomination today for an NAACP Image Award. Oops.

Tip: Lily Allen might not be the best role model.

Now, the Ministry has been known to get its party on, don't get us wrong. But, in large part because we are not a talented entertainer, we're lucky enough not to have paparazzi (or, heck, network cameras) following us around day and night. Though sometimes you can't win for losing.

Not as if she invented the concept of the celebrity buzz, though. Not even close ...
