Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon name and nickname their twins

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey have named their twin babies Moroccan Scott and Monroe Cannon -- Roc and Roe for short.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have announced their new twins' names: The little boy is Moroccan Scott Cannon, and the little girl is Monroe Cannon.

Think the little guy's name is a mouthful? The best part are the kidlets' nicknames: "ROC & ROE! LET'S GO!," Cannon said on Twitter.

The babies were born Saturday in L.A., on Mom and Dad's third wedding anniversary, and the couple renewed their vows in the hospital Sunday with the Rev. Al Sharpton doing the honors. The babies names hit the street Wednesday.

New dad Nick told Radar Online that his son now has "the same middle name as me -- Moroccan is like Mariah and my name together. Roc for short, strong name." It was in the Moroccan Room, the top tier of Carey's Manhattan apartment, where Cannon proposed, CNN reported.

As for the little lady, she's Monroe as in Marilyn Monroe -- with no middle name, because Mom doesn't have one of those.

Are you ready for Roc and Roe? Or did you prefer one of the suggestions from Ministry of Gossip readers?

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon renew wedding vows

Mariah Carey renews her vows with Nick Cannon, via the Rev. Al Sharpton This post has been corrected. See the note below for details.

Mariah Carey had twins in an L.A. hospital Saturday — and on Sunday, hubby Nick Cannon tweeted, "Yep we just had a wedding in the hospital!" The couple followed through with their tradition of annually renewing their wedding vows, this time with an assist from the Rev. Al Sharpton.

Cannon also publicly thanked Sharpton, who took the red-eye back to New York to discuss Osama bin Laden's death Monday.

"I am just leaving Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon," Sharpton said Sunday in the first of a series of messages on Twitter. "She had twins yesterday on their 3 rd anniversary. I had prayer with them and the babies. I also conducted the renewal of their vows and the blessing of the newborn twins. Mariah looks GREAT, and the babies are beautiful. I am so moved by the sincere spiritual commitment of Mariah and Nick. They have not let success separate them from GOD. I am so proud."

Carey and Cannon's daughter and son — the little lady was born first — came on the same day as their third anniversary.

No names have been announced, though fans put in their two cents in comments over the weekend. Meanwhile, we were reminded of a name Nick joked about early in December: Cleophis.

A week after he pitched "Cleophis Cannon," the couple let the world know they were expecting twins.

[For the record, 12:30 p.m. May 2: Sharpton visited the couple and tweeted about it Sunday, not Saturday, as this post originally said.]

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's twins are born: Hello, #dembabies!

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have twin babies -- a boy and a girl Mariah Carey gave birth to twins Saturday morning, delivering what husband Nick Cannon called "the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life."

The couple's baby girl was born first, weighing 5 pounds, 3 ounces, and measuring 18 inches long, Carey rep Cindi Berger said. The baby boy was next, at 5 pounds, 6 ounces, and 19 inches. The diva delivered at an unspecified hospital in Los Angeles.

"Congratulations to Mariah & Nick on the birth of #dembabies!!," read the announcement sent out via Carey's Twitter page. "Born, April 30th at 12:07pm ET. Mommy, Daddy & #dembabies are all doing fine!" (That's 9:07 a.m. in L.A.)

After exuberantly thanking his wife on Twitter about noon, daddy Nick declared, "I won't ever be able to top this!"

Turns out Cannon, 30 was a bit twitterpated at the hospital, Berger said, while Carey, 41, was chilled out, thinking it was another false alarm.

After driving Carey to the hospital in their Rolls-Royce Phantom, Cannon was so nervous he went to the wrong department at the hospital, finally being guided to the maternity ward by a nurse.

"It was like right out of an 'I Love Lucy' skit," Berger said.

Well-wishes came Saturday on Twitter from the likes of Nicki Minaj and mom-to-be Alyssa Milano, among others.

To mark their third anniversary, Carey and Cannon planned to renew their wedding vows on Sunday, as they have done twice before. They were married April 30, 2008, in the Bahamas.

Turns out "dembabies" don't have names yet -- any ideas? Tell us in comments.

After Miranda Kerr and Rachel Zoe, the pressure's on Kate Hudson to lose that baby fat already, would ya?

KerrKate Hudson is expecting! Evangeline Lilly has a bun in the oven! Mariah Carey is pregnant with just the precious-est twins ever!

Uh, yay?

Preach It! has never managed to summon the proper amount of glee when a star gets knocked up. We get it: We’re the celebrity gossip media; we’re supposed to go squee! and trot out phrases like “baby bumpin’!” and “baby joy!” and run photos of “beautifully pregnant” and “glowing” starlets shopping for tiny clothes at boutiques no one else can afford.

But maybe we’re less than enthused because of what’s happening -- with increasing speed -- after these kids arrive. We speak, of course, of mommy’s weight loss. The media tend to use the cutesy phrase “body after baby” -- the impossible size-2-to-0 figure that starlets are expected to reclaim in less time than it takes for a Gabor to drop a fur coat onto a divan.

Usually, we’re talking a pretty tight weight-loss window: A few months, perhaps. Miranda Kerr, for example, is looking pretty much the way she used to after four months of motherhood.

But that “body after baby” time frame appears to be, well, shrinking. After initially lying about her pregnant state, celebu-stylist Rachel Zoe eventually gave birth to a boy last month. Fast-forward three weeks, and Zoe is padding around Los Angeles looking as scrawny as she was in her heyday. How do we know? Because of the headlines, of course.

“Rachel Zoe Shows Off Her Post-Baby Body,” SocialiteLife simpered.

“Rachel Zoe is skinny again,” is how Hollyscoop put it.

And, per the stiffer upper lips of Britain’s Daily Mail: “Rachel Zoe regains her slender form just three weeks after giving birth.”

At this rate, we’ll be demanding that Hudson drop her weight before she even pops out that baby.

Forgive us if we fail to squee.

Nick Cannon on Mariah Carey's 'nerve-racking' contractions and more

Nick-cannon-baby-talk
It'll take a little more than a few contractions to rattle Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey. Reports this week suggested the pair panicked over a possible early arrival of their twins, but all four are doing just fine.

"They're calling it a 'scare,' but really, it was just nerve-racking. We were in the hospital from 4 a.m. until I don't even know," Cannon told the Ministry.

"The thing with twins is that you want them in their natural incubator as long as possible," he said. "They might be ready to come out, but we need them to stay in for a while."

But is mom Mariah ready for their debut? "She's super ready," Cannon said with a laugh.

While the dad-to-be confirmed their official due date is May 14 (the day his new comedy album drops and his Feeding America-sponsored charitable initiative "Stamp Out Hunger" launches), he suspects they'll arrive earlier. Meanwhile, Mariah is enjoying her pregnancy, evidenced by Monday's baby-bump decorating.

"That's her finding the fun and festiveness through the pain," he said.

Another source of joy for the couple has been the embarrassment of gifts in their home trumpeting the fraternal twins.

"We got so much stuff. ... There's all these giant stuffed animals," he said of the life-sized loot listed on their baby registry, "it looks like Noah's Arc in here. There's giraffes, polar bears, lions."

Though quality swag awaits the kids, Cannon maintains they'll always be aware of giving back.

Mariah Carey has early contractions, but #dembabies aren't here yet

Mariah-carey-contractions A very pregnant Mariah Carey went to the hospital Saturday, her birthday, with contractions that turned out to be a false alarm -- then on Sunday she had a little fun decorating her belly in anticipation of the real arrival of the boy and girl she's calling "#dembabies."

Carey posted the picture of her butterfly-emblazoned belly via Twitter on Monday, captioning it, "My attempt @ festiveness on 327! ... Comin soon #dembabies! ... thanx 4 making me happy."

"So #dembabies really wanted 2 celebrate w/us/share the anniversary! I started having contractions last night..went 2 the hospital," the singer tweeted shortly after midnight Sunday, adding that the hospital "said I could come home after they got it under control."

Her twins with Nick Cannon aren't due for another two weeks or so, she tweeted. And for those who might be wondering, the couple's wedding anniversary is actually April 30 -- it'll be three years next month. She was apparently referring to the anniversary of her birth.

Hey, the lady's pregnant, OK?

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon having a boy and a girl

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are expecting twins Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon are having a boy and a girl.

The couple, who announced in December that they would be having twins, confirmed that they'll be having one of each gender, due this April.

That's one bundle of joy of the XX-chromosome variety and another of the XY-chromosome variety, for those of us who weren't paying attention in high school biology.

"Even before we announced it was twins, I was trying to keep everything gender-neutral because I didn't want to impose an identity on them too soon," Carey, 41, told Life & Style magazine.

"There were fan contests on Twitter about what gender they are, and rumors about them being two boys or two girls -- but nobody guessed this!" she said.

Carey has been pretty tight-lipped on the details of the pregnancy, except for, oh, that time she spilled the beans to Michelle Obama.

She and Cannon, 30, who have been married since April 2008, are already decorating nurseries in L.A. and New York.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are expecting twins

Mariah-carey Mariah Carey is expecting twins, her husband confirmed on his "Rollin With Nick Cannon" radio show Thursday morning. But apparently the story was already out.

"She shared with the president and the first lady that we are having twins," Cannon said. "I haven't even told my wife I was doing this, so I am probably going to get yelled at for not getting permission."

The missus apparently couldn't keep mum when talking to to the first couple at the Sunday taping of "Christmas in Washington." Hey, when the first lady asks you a question, you tell her first, right?

The special, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, airs Friday on TNT. Carey has said she's expecting "in the spring."

Mariah Carey confirms she is pregnant

Is she or isn't she? Hey, this time Mariah Carey really is pregnant!

The singer confirmed the news in an interview with "Access Hollywood," part of which aired Thursday on the "Today" show. "Yes, we are pregnant, this is true," she said.

"It's been a long journey, but it's been tough because I've been trying to have ... to hold onto a shred of privacy. And that was not easy." Indeed, the public and media have been obsessed with the diva's reproductive status for years, but with publicity for a Christmas album on the way as well as an expanding middle, Carey, 40, decided it was time to go public.

Husband Nick Cannon joined the interview in progress to add his thoughts.

"Uh, it's absolutely emotional, but first, so many reasons, I mean obviously the greatest gift on Earth is a child," the "America's Got Talent" host, 30, told Billy Bush. "But ... you know how much we have been through, you know."

Wait, what? No, Nick, actually we don't ...

At that point, together they revealed that early in their marriage she'd suffered a miscarriage -- a sad event she had to hide publicly and cry herself to sleep over in private.

And when's the baby due? "It's still early ... ," she said. "Expecting in the spring, let's say that."

The full three-part interview will air on "Access Hollywood" Thursday through Saturday.

Could Mariah Carey be 'American Idol's' new Paula Abdul? [poll]

Mariah-in-gold-dress With Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler signed up as a new "American Idol" judge, there's still a seat to fill -- and the prospect floating around as we head into the weekend is none other than Mariah Carey.

So while the negotiators do their negotiating, and the lawyers do their lawyering, the Ministry presents a little retro rewind of Mariah from the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January.

What do you think -- could Mariah fit in as "Idol's" next Paula Abdul? She does have the wardrobe.
