Using that temporary 'get out of jail free' card, Lil Wayne does a cameo with Lil Jeezy during Jay-Z's show

Lil wayne firefighters You know how yesterday we were imagining what Lil Wayne might get done in New York overnight after a fire at the courthouse delayed his sentencing? Turns out he did himself proud, showing up onstage at Jay-Z's Madison Square Garden concert Tuesday night for a cameo with Lil Jeezy, who's also part of the tour.

According to MTV, the crowd went wild.

Turns out the artist, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., will have more than one night as a free man, however -- the sentencing has been delayed until March 9, TMZ reports

He faces an expected year at Riker's Island stemming from a weapons possession charge to which he pleaded guilty.

Lil Wayne gets another prison reprieve -- this time it's a fire

Lil wayne grammys Lil Wayne's trip to prison has been delayed yet again, thanks to a fire in the courthouse where he was to appear for sentencing Tuesday.

On Feb. 9, the rapper got a reprieve so he could tend to some dental work. On Tuesday, he was inbound on a plane from Miami to New York when a smoky basement fire shut the courthouse down for the day. It took an hour to get the flames under control, and five firefighters, two civilians and a prisoner were hurt.

Lil Wayne had already posted a farewell of sorts Monday night on Twitter: "yesterday i smiled, today i smirked, tomorrow i stop.............................thanks for your thoughts and prayers, they're needed."

The rapper's been crazy-busy in the weeks leading up to what's expected to be a year in prison, shooting nine videos in a 48-hour stretch before the last delay.

Imagine what he could get done in New York between now and Wednesday morning.

Cracked tooth delays rapper Lil Wayne's prison sentence

Wayne tooth If it's good enough for Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller, it's good enough for Lil Wayne.

The rapper's sentencing -- he's about to spend a year in prison on a gun charge -- was delayed until March 2 because he has a cracked tooth that has required a string of dental surgeries. And those surgeries aren't done yet.

And -- shocking shock -- the prosecutors and judge agreed that Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, would likely get better care from his private dentist in Miami than from the team at Riker's Island.

In the Sheen case ...

Bad week for Lil Wayne: Law dog smells drugs, sentencing date set, 'Rebirth' released too soon

Lilwayne Lil Wayne, Lil Wayne, Lil Wayne -- sometimes a bad week just keeps getting worse.

The hip-hop singer and 11 members of his entourage were briefly detained, questioned and released Friday afternoon in Texas after the U.S. Border Patrol found marijuana on two of their tour buses.

No charges were brought, although the case was referred to the local sheriff's office.

The pot hadn't been found on a particular individual, E! Online reports, but rather on two of the tour buses, and "all parties were cooperative." A drug dog smelled that smell at a checkpoint between the tour's Thursday concert in Hidalgo, Texas, and its Friday show in Laredo, and a secondary inspection turned up the marijuana.

Lil Wayne around marijuana? Who'd've thunk it?

Want to buy the condo Lil Wayne's renting? Want a snack first?

Wayne2 Lil Wayne, Lil Wayne, Lil Wayne -- the Ministry thinks this story is just flat-out giggle-inducing.

Seems the rapper and new father (aka Dwayne Carter) is renting a condo in Miami's South Beach. The people who own the place have it on the market for $520,000, but -- according to the New York Post's Page Six -- the agent is wrangling a few unique challenges in showing the property for sale.

No, it's nothing so pedestrian as the economy. Rather, it's the alleged "smell of marijuana," the inability to show the place early in the day and the "hot, rap-video-looking girls" who might be wandering around the place wearing nothing but bras and panties.

"These are not morning people," a New York Post source quotes the listing broker as saying.

At least this makes it easy for prospective buyers to imagine how entertaining might go down.

Lil Wayne, who owns a $3.1-million place nearby, is reportedly a lil' bit tidy as a tenant, with a perfectly organized closet and neat stacks of the hip-hop magazine XXL around the place.

So, maybe our giggling is just from reading about the condo? We would've gotten around to writing up this post sooner, but -- you know.

Mm hmm.

Lil Wayne and his newest lil boy -- and other people getting arrested on the rapper's behalf

Lil wayne Lil Wayne, Lil Wayne, Lil Wayne -- ohhh, where do we begin?

Let's start with the happy part: Multiple Grammy winner Lil Wayne (a.k.a. Dwayne Carter Jr.) and singer Nivea welcomed a new baby boy this past Monday, and friends were delighted.

More on the kids later.

Less happy: Six of his supporters were arrested Monday night in New Orleans during "a street party highlighting the imprisonment of hometown heroes Lil Wayne and Lil Boosie as examples of how the police and prison industrial complex do not work."

So, during the "street party," an off-duty police officer saw "Free Lil Wayne" being spray-painted on a building in the French Quarter, and arrests ensued.

And just why do the Lils need freeing?

Carter, who won for best rap album and in three other categories at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards, pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He expects to be sentenced to one year in jail -- in New York, where the local branch of the prison-industrial complex probably didn't notice the New Orleans street party.

Lil Boosie, a.k.a. Torrence Hatch, is in prison after violating terms of his release after taking a plea deal on a drug-possession charge after being arrested with marijuana and a gun in a vehicle he was driving -- dare we speculate "after dark"?  After all that, you might be better off just clicking this link for the details.

So let's get back to little Dwaynes: The newest is the rapper's third son born since October 2008, with three different moms.
