Leonardo DiCaprio's slasher gets two years in prison

Vladimir Putin and Leonardo DiCaprio The woman who pleaded no contest to slashing Leonardo DiCaprio's face with a broken bottle as he left a Hollywood Hills party in 2005 was sentenced Tuesday to two years in state prison, L.A. Now reports.

Aretha Wilson, 40, who was extradited from Canada on July 30, was ordered in August to stay 500 feet away from the actor.

She entered her plea to assault with a deadly weapon on Nov. 12.

The attack allegedly occurred as DiCaprio was leaving a small party at the home of Paris Hilton's ex Rick Salomon on June 17, 2005. "As a result of the assault, Mr. DiCaprio suffered a laceration to the left side of his neck, requiring several sutures," police said in a statement at the time. (He needed 17 stitches.)

Wilson should get 330 days credit for time served in jail, L.A. Now says.

In an unrelated case, DiCaprio got a restraining order in September against a woman, Livia Bistriceanu, 41, who for years has claimed to be the actor's wife and to be pregnant with his child.

Away from court, DiCaprio donated $1 million to the World Wildlife Fund on Nov. 23 to help prevent the extinction of tigers, while he was participating in a summit on the issue in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Leonardo DiCaprio on flight that made emergency landing

Leonardo DiCaprio on plane that made emergency landing Leonardo DiCaprio was among the 193 passengers and 11 crew members on a Delta Air Lines 767 bound for Russia that safely made an emergency landing Sunday at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

"He wishes to commend the actions of the pilot and flight crew in bringing the plane to a safe landing," his reps said in a statement.

"Leo signed autographs for all the crew members when they landed," a source told UsMagazine.com. DiCaprio, whose "Great Gatsby" costar Carey Mulligan was just cast in that film, was heading for a four-day meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia, on the prevention of the extinction of tigers. The meeting began Sunday.

The plane had engine trouble shortly after takeoff, and returned to JFK after dumping and burning off fuel over the Atlantic Ocean. It landed without incident a little over an hour after its 6 p.m. departure. Though a possible fire was initially reported by an air-traffic controller, the incident was most likely a compressor stall, an FAA spokeswoman said.

Passengers were put onto a flight departing for Moscow later Sunday night.

Coincidentally, FirstShowing.net reported last week that DiCaprio would be starring in a film related to the assassination of President Kennedy, which happened 47 years ago Monday.

Carey Mulligan lands role of Daisy in Baz Luhrmann's 'Great Gatsby'

Carey Mulligan Monday wasn't a bad day in Carey Mulligan's world -- while walking the red carpet at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards, she got word that she had nabbed a lead role in Baz Luhrmann's upcoming adaptation of "The Great Gatsby."

The indie-film pixie burst into tears on the red carpet, according to Deadline, in front of Vogue Editor Anna Wintour and designer Karl Lagerfeld (Mulligan was wearing Chanel).

"I was thrilled to pick up the phone an hour ago to the young Oscar-nominated British actress Carey Mulligan and say to her -- 'Hello, Daisy Buchanan,' " the "Moulin Rouge!" director said in an e-mail to Deadline.

Daisy is the doomed princess of the Long Island Sound in "Gatsby," for which Mulligan beat out serious rumored competition -- such as Blake Lively (who also attended the CFDA Awards -- awkward) and "The Town" star Rebecca Hall.

Leonardo DiCaprio is set to play lead Jay Gatsby, with Tobey Maguire lined up as Gatsby's confidant Nick Carraway. One prior adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's book was made by Jack Clayton in 1974. Mia Farrow originated the role that now belongs to Mulligan, while Robert Redford broke in DiCaprio's shoes.

What do you think of Mulligan as Daisy? Tell us in comments.

In New York, celbs ceelbrated the 10th anniversary of BET's video countdown show "106 & Park" at NYC nightlife staple Marquee. Brown "stole the show," according to partygoers, dancing into the night alongside Bow Wow, Trey Songz and Ja Rule.

'Wife' ordered to stay away from Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo-and-fans

If you're Leonardo DiCaprio, "love" can be scary.

DiCaprio was granted a three-year restraining order Friday against Livia Bistriceanu, a woman who says she's the "Inception" star's wife and believes she is carrying his child -- a baby she says is choosing not to be born yet because the actor has not yet married her.

Bistriceanu, 41, who has been twice placed on psychiatric hold, was notified of a temporary restraining order but did not appear in court; DiCaprio also did not appear Friday. She's been ordered to stay 100 yards away from him after the actor said that he feared for his safety. Bistriceanu traveled from Chicago to L.A. to see him, and showed up at his home and business offices recently, court documents said.

The filing included a handwritten letter to DiCaprio from Bistriceanu written in August ...
