Bruno Mars' Las Vegas drug case dismissed

Bruno Mars cocaine charges dismissedBruno Mars has been cleared of drug charges now that he has completed the terms of a plea deal linked to his arrest September 2010 after police said they found him in possession of cocaine in Las Vegas.

A judge dropped the charges against the Grammy-winning "Grenade" singer, whose real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, after confirming that he completed 200 hours of community service and eight hours worth of drug counseling and paid a $2,000 fine, which had been in accordance with the deal.

Mars had been arrested in a Hard Rock Hotel and Casino after a nightclub performance on Sept. 19, 2010, and surrendered a bag containing 2.6 grams of cocaine, according to police reports. The now 26-year-old singer pleaded guilty to the felony drug charges last year to avoid jail time and was offered the plea deal because he was a first-time offender. He did not appear in court on Wednesday for the hearing.

"Bruno earned the dismissal," his attorney Blair Berk said. "He exceeded the expectations of the court."

The "Just the Way You Are" singer, along with his producer-buddies the Smeezingtons, is nominated for six Grammy Awards, including record of the year ("Grenade"), album of the year ("Doo-Wops & Hooligans") and song of the year ("Grenade"). He is scheduled to perform again at the award show on Feb. 12. Here's to no more bathroom busts in his future.

Kanye West makes New Year's DJ debut in Las Vegas

Kanye West debuts as a DJ
Anyone curious about what's on Kanye West's personal playlist got some answers this New Years Eve, as the rapper made his DJ debut at the grand opening of nightspot 1 OAK in Las Vegas.

Fergie and Josh Duhamel ring in 2012At Sin City's Mirage hotel and casino, West took to the tables under the name "Yeezyworldpeace" playing hits of his own, natch, like "Gold Digger." "Good Life" and the ubiquitous "...In Paris" with Jay-Z. He also included hip hop, pop and '80s tunes for the three-hour set.

Hosted by Fergie, with husband Josh Duhamel in tow, the glamorous opening attracted Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who is on the verge of pulling a Gwyneth with his singing lately), Topher Grace, Kid Cudi and Jason Ritter.

The bold names got down over plenty of champagne, as Fergie stole a midnight kiss from her man while he snapped a photo with his smartphone. Onlookers say Kanye did have a female present in the booth, and lucky he wasn't around the night before.

On Friday, a private party at 1 OAK saw a visit from West's ex Amber Rose and her current beau, Wiz Khalifa

Marie Osmond back in action after allergies turn into bronchitis

Marie Osmond has bronchitis

Marie Osmond fans need not panic: Though the singer was rushed to a Las Vegas hospital for tests earlier this week, she didn't skip a beat, returning to the stage the next night without missing a show.

"So the allergies went into a bronchitis," Osmond said early Thursday on Twitter, referencing allergies that had resulted in two shows being cancelled last weekend. "Didn't realize it until I went to hit the high notes last night on stage. Pie Jesu was kinda P-U."

Marie, 52, and her brother Donny Osmond put on a 90-minute gig regularly at the Flamingo hotel. Last Friday, she had apologized online for nixed shows that night and the next, saying, "I don't even feel that bad...just that my throat is not cooperating because of allergies. Love ya, guys."

An Osmond rep, confirming the bronchitis diagnosis to Reuters, said that after finishing up her part of the show Wednesday night, Marie had gone through a couple of hours of tests.

"Forever the trouper, #MarieOsmond went the distance tonight, a full 90 mins, 24 hours after a trip to ER for bronchial issues," the Las Vegas Review-Journal's Norm Clarke reported Thursday night via Twitter.

Holly Madison insures her two best friends for $1 million

Holly Madison has insured her breasts for $1 million

Holly Madison, one of "The Girls Next Door" who now appears in a topless revue in Las Vegas, is putting her money where her moneymakers are: She has insured her breasts for $1 million with Lloyd's of London.

The "Peepshow" veteran, who also has film and TV credits for portraying characters including "Playboy Bunny," "Hot Blonde," "Self" and "Blonde #1," told People she'd heard about performers insuring body parts and figured, "Why not?"

"Because if anything happened to my boobs" -- her word, not ours -- "I'd be out for a few months and I'd probably be out a million dollars," she told the mag. "I thought I'd cover my assets."

Hey, that's one way to put yourself in the same league as Betty Grable and Angie Dickinson. Though those ladies insured their legs, which probably makes it not the same league in the slightest, beyond the fact that everyone involved possesses two legs, with Madison owning two insured assets of her own.

Alas, Madison's assets were made, not born: She surgically boosted her cup size in 2001 from an A to a D-plus, which is about the grade the Los Angeles Times' reviewer gave "Peepshow" back in April 2009. Madison joined the cast in May of that year.

Reed Johnson described "Peepshow" as "an intermittently amusing but utterly predictable and cliche-besotted soft-core revue" with "a tribute to pink that involves a male stooge, some light bondage, a bucket of paint and a crunching rock ditty" ranking among the show's more inspired numbers, musically.

Madison apparently took to Vegas from the get-go, however, reportedly becoming a fixture at charity events and on red carpets in short order. That's not to say she doesn't have room in her heart for a dive bar or two.

Meanwhile, the Ministry is insanely unhappy that our recent bout with accidental nudity happened on a  Jennifer Aniston post, and not this one.

Paris Hilton is off the hook, off probation in Vegas drug case

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton may be offering Chris Brown some stiff competition in the I'm Really Good at Probation Department -- a judge on Tuesday praised Hilton's extra-credit efforts doing community service and closed out her case.

Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure closed out Hilton's probation after reviewing documents from her attorneys that in his opinion indicated "Miss Hilton was attentive, cooperative and fully engaged."

"The assessment here is that she understands the seriousness of the situation and the consequences of her actions," he said, according to the Las Vegas Sun. In working for Union Rescue Mission in L.A., a graffiti-removal team in Hollywood, an animal shelter in Las Vegas and the Race to Erase MS campaign, Hilton clocked more than the 200 hours she'd been tasked with.

And here we thought Breezy was the only celeb earning gold stars from the legal system. Though since Brown is working off a felony assault conviction, not a misdemeanor, he still has a few years of probation ahead of him. (Even so -- Lindsay, are you taking notes?)

Hilton did not have to appear in court Tuesday. As part of a plea deal that turned an arrest on suspicion of felony drug possession into a misdemeanor conviction for drug possession and obstructing an officer, she was required to pay a $2,000 fine, serve 200 hours of community service, complete drug counseling and stay out of trouble for a year on probation.

She and then-beau Cy Waits were pulled over on the Strip in August after officers smelled smoke wafting from the SUV that Waits was driving. When Hilton took a bathroom break supervised by law enforcement, a packet of cocaine fell out of her purse; she later said the drugs and the purse were not hers. The couple were both arrested.

Though Hilton entered her guilty plea in September 2010, Waits' situation was unresolved until late August of this year. He too cut a deal.

Adele turns to 'Basketball Wives' in lieu of rock-star partying

Adele, back from laryngitis, performs at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

Adele has topped music charts for weeks with her latest album, but don't expect trashed hotel rooms and empty mini-bars from the British singer: She's keeping it mellow as she rebounds from a canceled North American tour.

"My band was out all night getting drunk," she cracked to an intimate crowd in The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, "while I stayed in my room like a true rock star and watched 'Basketball Wives.' "

Adele's performance over the weekend marked one of a handful of small-scale appearances Adele has made since coming back from a bad case of laryngitis. Contracted in June, the illness kept the singer in bed in Los Angeles, forcing major cancellations.

Thank goodness Royce Reed and Shaunie O'Neal and the rest of the "Basketball Wives" are keeping Adele company as she heals.

The Saturday concert, attended by the likes of "Meet the Parents" actress Teri Polo, included the numbers "Rolling in The Deep" and "Turning Tables" as well as a cover of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me."

"Glee" stars Cory Monteith and Mark Salling (there to celebrate his birthday at Marquee Dayclub) buzzed around the property for the weekend, which also saw an outdoor show from Deathcab for Cutie.

The Cosmopolitan's concert bookings have driven celeb traffic and fanfare since their inaugural Jay-Z and Coldplay gig on New Year's Eve 2010. Adele will next appear along with Lady Gaga and Britney Spears on Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, and will do another block of intimate shows in October.

Ryan Seacrest assembles Lady Gaga, Coldplay, John Mayer and more for online concert

RyanseacrestOne would likely need Ryan Seacrest's Rolodex to assemble a roster of superstars for a two-day, online streaming music festival -- so it's probably best that the host has taken it upon himself to do just that.

Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Sting, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Nicki Minaj, John Mayer and the Black Eyed Peas are among those set to perform at the Las Vegas music festival Seacrest is spearheading with iHeartRadio.

Seacrest has also invited Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Kenny Chesneyand David Guetta for the digital to-do, set for Sept. 23-24 at the MGM Grand.

Lopez, from Seacrest's "American Idol" family, showed up on the "Today" show Monday to join in announcing the event, with talk turning to another announcement folks are waiting to hear from her: whether she'll as a judge on the Fox singing competition.

"I have no announcement to make as of this moment, but I promise ... you'll be the first to know," she teased.

NHL Awards: Jay Mohr, Jon Hamm, Beverly Hills housewives present hockey honors

NHL Awards: Jon Hamm, Camille Grammer and Adrienne Maloof

Jon Hamm and a few Beverly Hills housewives presented honors at the 2011 NHL Awards in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

The awards, hosted by comedian Jay Mohr, honor professional hockey players who excelled in the season. Corey Perry, the 26-year-old Anaheim Ducks' right wing, was the surprise winner of the league's MVP trophy. Click the pics for more photos.

"You look forward to doing it all over again," Perry said. "You try to build on the year before and move forward."

Beverly Hills housewives Camille Grammer (Donatacci) and Adrienne Maloof, who owns the Palms with her brothers, attended the show and the reality TV stars presented an award together.

Also making their way down the red carpet: "Up In the Air" director Jason Reitman, "Red State" director Kevin Smith, illusionist Criss Angel and musician Dierks Bentley. "Rocketeer" crooners Far East Movement posed for photos and performed during the show.

"How I Met Your Mother" star Cobie Smulders, a Canada native who frequently references her love of hockey on the CBS sitcom, presented an award along with "The Chicago Code" star Jennifer Beals.

NHL hall of famer Luc Robitaille was also in attendance as Vancouver Canucks' Daniel Sedin, who helped the Canadian team make it to the Stanley Cup finals before ultimately losing to the Boston Bruins, took home the Ted Lindsay Award for the most outstanding player in the NHL.

Nicklas Lidstrom, 41, of the Detroit Red Wings won for top defenseman honors for the seventh time.

"Mad Men's" Hamm presented the Vezina trophy for best goaltender to Boston's Tim Thomas, who already received playoffs MVP and Stanley Cup accolades to get through the night.

Los Angeles Kings captain Dustin Brown won the NHL Foundation Award recognizing his community contributions, specifically the $15,000 sum he and his wife Nicole donated to the newborn and infant critical care unit of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. That number comes from the number of hits he made last season, which ring up to $50 a pop.

Sightings: Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez share a slice; Tom Felton shops

Biebergomez Oh, young lovebirds Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, sharing a slice of pizza.

That's precisely what went down in Las Vegas on Sunday night, as the teens partied after their PDA show at the Billboard Music Awards.

Following the telecast at the MGM Grand, Bieber and Gomez sneaked off to the Cosmopolitan Hotel, according to an onlooker. The two got a tip that the property has a secret pizza joint that serves New York-style slices.

A hostess from Jaleo restaurant confirmed the hidden treat, and the couple ran off; later they were spotted wandering the property munching in their formalwear. The hotel also saw celeb diners Rihanna, Beyonce and Jay-Z sharing a table at Milo's, a Greek joint, where U2's Bono was just one table over.

The night before the awards, Billboard magazine hosted a pre-bash at Bank nightclub at the Bellagio to drum up excitement, attended by actress Jamie Chung of "The Hangover 2."

Back in Los Angeles, "Harry Potter" actor Tom Felton has been spotted around town, recently hitting up Rodeo Drive's Lacoste boutique for some summer shopping before a work trip to New York.

And although Billboard offered music's brightest stars, L.A. hospital Cedars-Sinai celebrated its annual Sports Spectacular on Sunday, honoring athletes such as Blake Griffin, Lindsey Vonn and Troy Polamalu.

The gala, a fundraiser for genetic research, marked its 26th year, prompting NBA star John Salley to say that when it began, "[Arnold] Schwarzenegger hadn't even met his maid yet."

Marie Osmond remarries first husband Stephen Craig [Video]

Marie Osmond remarries first husband Stephen CraigMarie Osmond got married Wednesday to someone she's known a long time: She remarried first husband Stephen Craig, whom she divorced in 1985 after three years of marriage.

Osmond, 51, and Craig, 54 were married in a private ceremony at the Las Vegas Mormon temple, with a reception following at their nearby home.

"I am so happy and look forward to sharing my life with Stephen, who is an amazing man as well as a great father to my children," Osmond told People magazine.

The pending remarriage had been rumored for months, an Access Hollywood source said, with People noting that the choice of wedding date has significance for the bride: It's the birthday of both Marie's late mom, Olive, and her late son, Michael.

The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising student, who'd changed his name from Michael Blosil to Michael Bryan shortly before his death at age 18, committed suicide in February 2010 in downtown Los Angeles.

Osmond and Brian Blosil, Michael's father, divorced in 2007 after nearly 20 years of marriage. Brian Blosil didn't attend his son's funeral, the singer told Oprah Winfrey in November, because his siblings "knew that Michael wouldn't want him there," Osmond said, "and they didn't want him there." In addition to Stephen and Michael, Osmond has six other children -- four daughters and two other sons.

Osmond reportedly wore the same wedding dress Wednesday that she donned the first time around with Craig, who was a basketball player at Brigham Young University.

See the couple back in the day with Stephen, their son together, and the rich-and-famous voice of Robin Leach in the video below.
