Kiefer Sutherland enlisted as Shorty Awards presenter

Kiefer Sutherland fans are used to seeing him over the course of "24" hours -- now the actor is stepping into the world of 140 characters as a presenter at the 3rd Annual Shorty Awards later this month in New York.

Sutherland, the Ministry has learned exclusively, will join already-named presenters Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, Stephen Wallem of "Nurse Jackie," Miss USA Rima Fakih and Miss Teen USA Kamie Crawford; Aasif Mandvi of "The Daily Show" will host the ceremony. The Shortys (think Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes -- but for Twitter) recognize the best producers of short real-time content.

Golden Globe winner Sutherland, currently appearing with Chris Noth, Jason Patric and Jim Gaffigan in "That Championship Season" on old-media Broadway and tweeting as @RealKiefer, is going new media himself this month with a 10-part Web series for Hulu. "The Confession" stars Sutherland and John Hurt in a good-and-evil story featuring a hit man and a priest. Anyone really need three guesses to figure out who's playing the hit man? (If yes, see the video above.)

Shorty nominations, done via Twitter, have delivered finalists in 30 official categories that look distinctly different than those on other award shows -- and that's before you get to the many community-generated categories. Just take a look at the finalists for actor, actress and celebrity, listed with their Twitter names:

Hero, @mjjeje; pop phenom Justin Bieber, @justinbieber; Heechul of the South Korean boy band Super Junior, @Heedictator; Niall Horan of "X Factor" boy band One Direction, @NiallOfficial; actress-singer and pop-phenom girlfriend Selena Gomez, @selenagomez; and Park Jaebeom, a.k.a. Jay Park, of the Seattle-based Art of Movement crew, @JAYBUMAOM.

Actor nominee Fillion was last year's winner in the celebrity category. Current actor nominee Collins synched his real-life Twitter feed to match a fictional story line in the show-within-a-show Season 6 finale of "Supernatural."

Kiefer Sutherland will present at the Shorty Awards The 3rd Annual Shorty Awards show starts at 4 p.m. PDT on March 28. Watch it streaming online at ShortyAwards.com.

Donald Sutherland gets a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Donald Sutherland and Colin Farrell at Sutherland's Walk of Fame ceremony Donald Sutherland is taking up residence next to his star son Kiefer Sutherland -- on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, that is.

The elder Sutherland hit Hollywood Boulevard in the wake of Colin Firth, recipient of the previous star.

The 75-year-old actor, who got the walk's 2,430th star Wednesday and can be seen in the upcoming "The Mechanic," has been in almost more movies and TV shows than we can count, including "MASH" and "Pride and Prejudice." He was joined at the ceremony by Hollywood bad boy and "Horrible Bosses" costar Colin Farrell.

Sutherland has played spies and astronauts, peasants and  aristocrats, notably kicking off his film career in the 1960s with "The Dirty Dozen."

Need more of an idea of the Canadian actor's range? He starred in "Fellini's Casanova" and "The Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

Sutherland won an Emmy and Golden Globe in 1995 for his role as a Soviet colonel in "Citizen X."  He later earned another Golden Globe in 2002 for "Path to War" playing a presidential advisor to Michael Gambon's Lyndon B. Johnson.

He loves his job and has no plans to retire. "It's lovely," he said of the honor, joking that at his age it was a better "stone" to get than a headstone on a cemetery plot.

"This marker I can actually come and visit."

Colin Firth gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Keifer's dad also joined Oscar nominee Firth, whose name was emblazoned on the Hollywood pavement on Jan. 14.

Firth was nominated for his role as stuttering King George VI in "The King's Speech," which received the most nods (12!) this year.

"Sometimes one feels like that particular king in moments like these," Firth said told reporters at his ceremony earlier this month.

"I am very happy with my little spot in Hollywood, which I will call my little corner of England, next to my partner Emma Thompson."

Hollywood just loves those actors with accents.

Owner: We loved having Kiefer Sutherland in our strip club

Sutherland The owner of the Stringfellows Covent Garden gentlemen's club would like to set the record straight about Kiefer Sutherland's visit to his London establishment, Gossip Cop reports.

Countering earlier reports that a sodden Sutherland had been forcibly ejected, club owner Peter Stringfellow has blogged that the actor was charming to all, simply slipped while exiting under the protection of club security, and had stripped off his own shirt as a joke.

"When it was explained to him very gently that that was the job of the girls and not the customers he burst out laughing," Stringfellow wrote. "His friend thought that this would be a good time for them go home."

The back-door departure was an attempt to keep Sutherland away from paparazzi lenses, he says -- though someone snapped a shot that looks as if one bouncer has the actor in a headlock. Stringfellow says that's just how his guy caught the "24" star after slipped and fell.

We'd love to link you directly, but, well, it's a strip club blog, which means ...

Drunken Kiefer Sutherland booted from London strip club

Kiefer-globes Kiefer Sutherland started sampling wines at a London hotel bar around 10:30 Wednesday night and kept on going until he was tossed out of the Stringfellow Gentleman's Club around half past 3 in the morning, shirtless and sloppy.

Bouncers, babbling and the club's back door were involved. He even managed to get his picture taken.

But in the "highly functional" department -- after an 11 a.m. smoke, Sutherland pulled it together Thursday for a pre-recorded television interview, the Daily Mail reports, a mere 12 hours after being spotted giggling in a gutter outside his hotel.

Corey Haim, Corey Feldman and the pitfalls of Hollywood

To put Corey Haim and his career in context, it helps to have a few years on you -- like, "I came of age in the '80s" years. Check out the "Lucas" trailer above and you might be surprised whom you see.

Among the names with lower billing than Haim in either "Lucas" or "The Lost Boys: Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Winona Ryder, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Jami Gertz and Jeremy Piven -- a roster exemplifying the fact that each path through Hollywood is has its own pitfalls.

"Lost Boys" costar Corey Feldman appeared on "Larry King Live" Wednesday (the video is embedded below), urging people not to speculate on Haim's cause of death, even as he acknowledged his friend's history with drugs ("I know it better than anybody. ... I've been there with him through it many, many times," Feldman said) and then speculated on what, other than a drug overdose ...

Kiefer Sutherland cleared to return to '24' after surgery

Kiefer 24 Kiefer Sutherland might not heal up quite as fast as his Jack Bauer character -- who recently recovered from a stabbing, a beating and electric shocks by the start of the next hour -- but he's not exactly kickin' it with bonbons and milking his sick days, either.

The star of "24" has gotten the OK to return to  work starting March 1. A cyst near one of Sutherland's kidneys ruptured the week before Valentine's Day, and production on the show was shut down while he had outpatient surgery to remedy the situation.

Kiefer Sutherland caught up in alleged cattle-selling scam

Kiefer mob Time to circle the wagons. Kiefer Sutherland has been kicked in the financial teeth to the tune of $869,000 in an alleged cattle-investment operation gone awry, according to the San Joaquin County District Attorney's office.

That's a decent-sized dent, even for a guy who's finishing out a $40-million, three-year contract on the hit show "24."

Through a financial adviser, Sutherland became involved with suspect Michael Wayne Carr, who allegedly promised to buy cattle in Mexico and resell them in the U.S. for a profit. Though the money was transferred, prosecutors said, there is no evidence any cattle buying or selling took place.

Kiefer Sutherland, David Letterman and a dress -- imagine the possibilities

Kiefer Sutherland is a man of his word, it seems -- even if the words wind up being, "I'm shopping for a big gal ... kinda my size ... do you mind if I try it on?" Because I'm doing the David Letterman show later tonight?

Dave wants to know, on tonight's show, why Kiefer's dolled up all purty-like for him.

"What's happening here?"

"I lost a bet," said the man whose Jack Bauer character is wise enough to bet only on himself. "Over the weekend, I was so sure New England was gonna win that I told a guy who used to be my friend that if New England lost, I would wear a dress on Letterman."

Kiefer Sutherland, naughty or nice? Jack Bauer interrogates Santa ...

Kiefer Kiefer Kiefer Sutherland's been staying out of trouble lately, but it looks as if his "24" alter ego, Jack Bauer, is feeling a bit naughty, what with the strain of the season and all.

This video from the Rebel Viral Team has Jack up against someone who just has to rub him wrong. Really, who needs a whole day to save the world? This old fella gets the job done in one night.

Fans of "24" can once again see Jack beating up characters who deserve it starting Jan. 17. (A trailer for Season 8 is after the jump.)
