Katherine Heigl patiently waiting for her friends to have kids

Katherine Heigl is looking for playdates for her daughter

Katherine Heigl holds her own as an actress, producer, wife and mom, but there's one thing she can't quite manage: her friends' biological clocks.

Turning up to the Elle Women in Hollywood celebration in Beverly Hills on Monday, Heigl shared the drawbacks of living life between two states and being the only woman with a child among her circle of friends.

"I don't actually have a ton of friends with kids, it's really weird. Naleigh doesn't really have a lot of friends, it's sad," Heigl said of her almost 3-year-old daughter with country singer Josh Kelley.

"We literally had to put her in preschool so she could make some friends and socialize," she said.

What she may lack in playdates Naleigh compensates for in cool parents. The Ministry was seated next to the couple at the event, which honored the likes of Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Aniston, Viola Davis and Elizabeth Olsen.

Splitting their time between L.A. and a remote town in Utah, the pair are navigating two lifestyles and, presumably, waiting for their pals to catch up.

Heigl will next be seen in January's "One for the Money."

Highest-paid actresses: Angelina Jolie, Sarah Jessica Parker rake it in

Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker are the highest paid actresses

The annual list of highest-paid actresses in Hollywood has hit -- and it looks like lunch this year is on Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The big-screen women tied for top-earning actress, clocking in with $30 million each earned from May 2010 to May 2011, according to the annual ranking compiled by Forbes magazine.

The list relies purely on income to rank the luminaries, among them Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz.

What's notable about Jolie's take is that her dough comes solely from film-related income (read: the only surefire movie star) earned on star turns in "Salt" and "The Tourist" as well as her directorial debut, a yet-to-be-released Bosnian love story called "In the Land of Blood and Honey."

Parker, while just as successful, counted cash from perfume lines and a design collaboration with Halston Heritage.

Like the next actress, Aniston has had her share of non-blockbusters, but "Just Go With It," costarring Adam Sandler, marked her fourth-highest domestic opening, Forbes noted. Witherspoon didn't hit big with the romcom "How Do You Know?" but still cashed the same size check as Jen: $28 million.

Julia Roberts came in on their heels at $20 million, followed by Kristen Stewart of "The Twilight Saga" at the same rate. Producer-actress Katherine Heigl earned $19 million for toys for daughter Naleigh, and Diaz took in $18 million as a cushy "Bad Teacher" bonus.

Sandra Bullock folded about $15 million, while her kissing partner Meryl Streep clocked in at $10 million.

Katherine Heigl says she's 'figuring out' her image problem

Katherine Heigl -- a box-office star fond of taking a stand on, well, anything -- knows she might have a bit of a reputation.

Appearing Thursday morning on KTLA to discuss her new flick, "Life As We Know It," the actress was quizzed by anchor Sam Rubin about her profile in Sunday's New York Times, in which the actress is accused of being far too honest for the Hollywood machine.

"I think that was fair," Heigl said of the critique. "It's something that I spent a lot of time the last year thinking about and figuring out."

Heigl has taken beatings publicly and within the industry for her criticism of the portrayal of women in her breakout film "Knocked Up," as well as the quality of writing on her equally star-making television series "Grey's Anatomy."

"My career is important to me and I'm really passionate about trying to keep it. ... I don't want to be the person digging my own grave," she said.

What do you think of Heigl's predicament? Tell us in the comments section below.

PREACH IT! Ashton Kutcher and pals say stuff! About, you know, drill, drill, drill!

PREACH IT! Ashton Kutcher and pals say stuff! About, you know, drill, drill, drill!

It’s an inevitable media cycle: A big controversy hits, celebrities speak out about it, and then pundits -- usually right-wingers -- fall back on that old, shopworn diss: Hollywood should just shut up and entertain us.

Killers-premiere-web We here at Preach It! tend to disagree with said pundits, especially because -- at least, when it comes to charity -- there’s a proven link between celebrity endorsements and increased donations. If it takes a Shakira to, say, turn us on to what’s going on in Arizona, so be it. At least we’re talking about Arizona, right?

Unless, of course, the celebrities genuinely don’t seem to, um, know what they’re talking about. Take the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, popularly known as the BP oil spill, which had all the celebrities speaking out during the premiere for the new Ashton Kutcher-Katherine Heigl flick “The Killers."

Per Heigl: “This is really, really bad. I think someone needs to get in there and do what we can right away to stop it. You know there’s lots of, you know, animal life and sea life that are being killed by this.”

Well, OK. To be fair, that comment wasn’t so terrible. Because, factually, yes, the BP oil spill is really, really, really bad. Then came Kutcher, whose comments went like this:

"If you could go back to the Republican National Convention, and look the guys in the eyes that were saying 'drill, drill, drill' -- at the Republican National Convention? Those guys! There you go! That’s what, that’s what we got! Like, we did it, we drill, drill, drilled!"

He continued thus: "This probably existed before that, so that’s maybe kind of a low blow. But ...

Katherine Heigl almost puts the 'show' in ShoWest

Heigl dress It was a moment straight from a chick flick.

Katherine Heigl nearly revealed another facet of her audience appeal Thursday when she picked up ShoWest's Female Star of the Year award -- and almost dropped her top in front of a crowd of movie exhibitors and distributors.

Oops.

This wasn't a planned wardrobe stunt: A while before going on stage at the conference's final event in Las Vegas, E! News' cameras captured a moment when Heigl, kvetching a bit about the bajillion beauty details she'd had to attend to before making her appearance.

Sam promo showest "Ohh! I think I just popped something," said the new brunet, eyes wide. Then she brushed off whatever had happened on her left shoulder as no big deal.

Turns out the real popping was yet to come -- but fortunately her reflexes were fast, and emcee Billy Bush had Heigl's back.

And ultimately her strap.

Report: Katherine Heigl's 'Grey's Anatomy' days are done

Heigl Katherine Heigl is finally leaving "Grey's Anatomy," Entertainment Weekly is reporting exclusively -- that new brunet hairdo may be a sign that Izzie Stevens' days are not only numbered, but in fact over.

Series creator Shonda Rhimes has agreed, according to the Ausiello Files, to release Heigl from her contract. The actress' three-month maternity leave was to have ended March 1 -- but that date came and went, with no Heigl on set. Sources in both camps, speaking to EW, hinted at a complicated situation.

Heigl will accept ShoWest's female star of the year award on March 18 in Las Vegas. Previous recipients include Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Sandra Bullock, Demi Moore, Jodie Foster and Julia Roberts.
