Highest-paid actresses: Angelina Jolie, Sarah Jessica Parker rake it in

Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker are the highest paid actresses

The annual list of highest-paid actresses in Hollywood has hit -- and it looks like lunch this year is on Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The big-screen women tied for top-earning actress, clocking in with $30 million each earned from May 2010 to May 2011, according to the annual ranking compiled by Forbes magazine.

The list relies purely on income to rank the luminaries, among them Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz.

What's notable about Jolie's take is that her dough comes solely from film-related income (read: the only surefire movie star) earned on star turns in "Salt" and "The Tourist" as well as her directorial debut, a yet-to-be-released Bosnian love story called "In the Land of Blood and Honey."

Parker, while just as successful, counted cash from perfume lines and a design collaboration with Halston Heritage.

Like the next actress, Aniston has had her share of non-blockbusters, but "Just Go With It," costarring Adam Sandler, marked her fourth-highest domestic opening, Forbes noted. Witherspoon didn't hit big with the romcom "How Do You Know?" but still cashed the same size check as Jen: $28 million.

Julia Roberts came in on their heels at $20 million, followed by Kristen Stewart of "The Twilight Saga" at the same rate. Producer-actress Katherine Heigl earned $19 million for toys for daughter Naleigh, and Diaz took in $18 million as a cushy "Bad Teacher" bonus.

Sandra Bullock folded about $15 million, while her kissing partner Meryl Streep clocked in at $10 million.

'Larry Crowne' premiere: Tom Hanks makes a peppy entrance [Video]

Tom Hanks on a Vespa at the "Larry Crowne" movie premiere Tom Hanks arrived at the "Larry Crowne" premiere Monday night on the same powder-blue scooter that his eponymous character rides in the film.

Flanked by a crew of fellow scooter riders, Hanks motored up and down the carpet outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre and out onto Hollywood Boulevard to the delight of a thick row of screaming fans.

"Watch out babies!" Hanks yelled as an emotional woman in jean shorts and a wide-brimmed, fuzzy blue hat broke loose from the crowd of onlookers across the street and ran onto the carpet shrieking, "Tom Hanks!" only to be chased into traffic by security.

Hanks' costars Julia Roberts, Rita Wilson, Wilmer Valderrama, Cedric the Entertainer, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Bryan Cranston, Nia Vardalos, Rami Malek, George Takei and more soon appeared on the carpet. The night was warm and balmy, a fact much remarked upon by the attendees, and the mood was light and excitable.

And apparently light and excitable was how things felt most of the time on set, according to Roberts, who said that Hanks, who cowrote, directed and starred in the film, likes it that way, and that his cast's happiness was of great importance to him.

Said Hanks: "The best part about being an actor as a director is when the whole cast comes in for the first time and they are better than you imagined and you can't imagine the film without them in it."

From remarks made by members of the cast, it was clear they were touched to be chosen to be a part of Hanks' latest project, about a Navy veteran who gets unceremoniously laid off from his job at a big-box store and decides to attend community college for the first time. There he meets and falls for Roberts, his speech teacher, along with a scooter-riding crew of free spirits who transform his life.

"It was a blessing, a privilege and an honor," to work with Hanks, said Valderrama, who played Dell Gordo, the wisecracking head of the scooter crew.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who plays Valderrama's good-intentioned girlfriend, echoed the sentiment, saying she grew up watching Hanks and Roberts in movies and that at first it was totally surreal to find herself working with them. But she soon felt at ease thanks to Hanks, who she said never failed to crack a joke.

"It's a privileged life, it's a lovely way to make a living," Mbatha-Raw said of acting.

Speaking of making a living, Hanks said he hoped that the film resonated with people going through hard times during the recession.

"It's a tough time, but we're going to be OK," said Hanks. "Things are going to change. Fight the cynicism."

Chris Hemsworth may play opposite Kristen Stewart in 'Snow White'

Chris Hemsworth offered hunstman role in 'Snow White and the Huntsman'

Chris Hemsworth, currently in theaters with the comic-book blockbuster "Thor," is up for the huntsman role in "Snow White and the Huntsman" starring Kristen Stewart.

The Australian actor and Universal Pictures were in talks Tuesday, and Hemsworth has officially been offered the huntsman role in the big-budget adaption of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, EW.com reported. In this version of the story, the character -- traditionally commissioned by the evil queen to hunt down and kill Snow White -- will be training the heroine to fight the evil queen herself.

However, whether Hemsworth signs on with the film seems to be based on whether production of "The Avengers" will pose a scheduling conflict, according to MTV Movies.

Older actors including Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackson and Joel Edgerton had previously been in the running for the role, but that $66-million opening for "Thor" seems to have put the 27-year-old in a plum position for casting.

Charlize Theron has already signed on to play the evil queen, and British actor Sam Claflin, whom you can scope out in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" later this month, will play the prince. Rupert Sanders will direct.

But Hollywood isn't done rehashing fairy tales: Another brooding Snow White project is brewing and is slated for release around the same time as the Universal version.

The competitor stars Lily Collins ("The Blind Side") as the porcelain-faced damsel and Julia Roberts as the evil queen. "The Social Network's" Armie Hammer will play the prince and Robert Emms will play his valet. The Relativity Media film directed by Tarsem Singh recently signed Nathan Lane as the mean queen's servant.

Which Snow White duo are you rooting for -- Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth, or Lily Collins and Armie Hammer?

Julia Roberts and Danny Moder: Date night at CAA Golden Globes party

Golden Globes: Julia Roberts and Danny Moder at CAA's pre-party Julia Roberts isn't Globe-nominated for her turn in "Eat Pray Love," but she and husband Danny Moder made a date night out of weekend festivities surrounding Sunday's Golden Globe Awards.

The couple turned up for CAA's pre-Golden Globes bash Friday at Soho House in West Hollywood -- where the power agency and Grey Goose hosted clients and friends to drum up excitement for Sunday's trophy show.

Roberts and Moder mingled with the likes of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, out a second night in a row after Thursday's Bulgari event, as well as Colin Firth and his Italian movie producer wife, Livia Giuggioli.

Jeremy Renner, last year's "it" boy for "The Hurt Locker," turned up seeming still celebratory from his recent 40th birthday, mingling with the likes of Eva Mendes, Harvey Weinstein and Julianne Moore.

The evening also celebrated the agency's volunteer component, the CAA Foundation, which urges artists and execs to give their time in service.

Julia Roberts, Fergie celebrate Glamour Women of the Year

Fergie at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards It was a fine night to be a girls' girl, as famous femmes including Julia Roberts, Fergie, Oprah Winfrey, Chelsea Clinton and Janet Jackson gathered Monday for Glamour magazine's Women of the Year event in New York.

Fergie, an honoree, attended with her mother Terry and sister Dana -- as well as one important man, husband Josh Duhamel. After "Nine" costar Kate Hudson presented the honor, the Black-Eyed Peas member teared up during her acceptance speech, gave shout-outs to her therapist and cried, "We are women, hear us roar!"

And that's just the French tip of the iceberg.

Presenters included Diane Sawyer, Hilary Swank and Jackson, getting the job done for a stable of honorees capped by Cher, who nabbed a lifetime achievement award.

Glamour-picture-gallery "I've had huge losses," the "Burlesque" star said to the audience. "It just makes me keep going."

Star athletes Mia Hamm, Lindsey Vonn and Lisa Leslie got accolades for achievements in their individual sports, while the very busy Queen Rania of Jordan got a nod for her advocacy of women's education in the Middle East.

Presenting to designer Donatella Versace, Jackson spoke of her late brother Michael.

"We both lost our brothers and our favorite collaborators much too soon," Jackson said of Versace, who survives her famous brother Gianni, adding that Donatella helped the Jackson clan cope with their loss by dressing them for Michael's funeral.

PREACH IT! Julia Roberts says she avoids Botox

Julia-roberts-and-elephant Julia Roberts has emerged on the cover of Elle to inform us that she likes to steer clear of Botox.

"I want to have some idea of what I'll look like before I start cleaning the slates,” the 42-year-old actress tells the glossy. “I want my kids to know when I'm pissed, when I'm happy, and when I'm confounded. Your face tells a story … and it shouldn't be a story about your drive to the doctor's office."

"Eat Pray Lie"? Not necessarily.

There are some stars older than 40 who have shunned the knife and the needle. But they are rare. Very, very rare. Hollywood plastic surgeons have estimated to Preach It! that, among actors 40 and older, nearly 100% have had some contact with Botox or some filler, if not the scalpel.

Hollywood's A-List turns out to celebrate Mike Nichols at AFI tribute

Nichols

If it’s true that a man can be judged by the company he keeps, Mike Nichols must be a whale of a guy.

The gala to present the 38th AFI Life Achievement Award to the director on Thursday evening was so star-studded, it could have vied with the Oscars for sheer wattage. As the director of such films as “The Graduate,” “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,” “Carnal Knowledge” and “Silkwood” looked on with his wife, Diane Sawyer, a steady parade of Hollywood A-listers — several of whom were AFI Life Achievement Award-winners or had seen their careers launched by his films — stood up to make warm and often hilarious remarks: Dustin Hoffman, Harrison Ford, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Elaine May, AFI Board of Trustees Chairman Howard Stringer, Calista Flockhart, Candice Bergen, Shirley MacLaine, Natalie Portman, Cher, Nora Ephron, Aaron Sorkin, Kevin Spacey, Robin Williams and Emma Thompson.

Mike-Nichols-galleryAnd that didn't even include Eric Idle performing a song from the Nichols-directed Broadway hit “Spamalot” — while wearing wings that referenced Nichols’ HBO work “Angels in America” — or such distinguished audience members as Oprah Winfrey, Morgan Freeman, Tim Curry and Wallace Shawn.

As last year's AFI honoree, Michael Douglas, quipped, “Where the hell were all of you last year?”

But the ambiance at the Sony Pictures Studios soundstage, where Judy Garland once walked down the Yellow Brick Road, had a couple of differences from the Academy Awards: The tribute for the 78-year-old was more intimate and, as Helen Mirren said while waiting for her car after the festivities, “there was lots of love in the room.”

How much?

'Eat Pray Love' trailer hits with Julia Roberts, James Franco and Javier Bardem

Sandra Bullock's got plenty of drama off-screen, but Julia Roberts pops up Thursday with some fictional fare. The trailer for her flick "Eat Pray Love" has hit and is full of cathartic montages and man candy.

Based on the bestseller by Elizabeth Gilbert, Roberts plays a woman lost who devotes a year to finding herself through food, prayer and (from the looks of this trailer) Javier Bardem.

James Franco pops up too, as a Roberts' bohemian rebound boy.

"I think this character is something people haven't seen from me before. He's like a yogi hipster that introduces [Julia] to meditation," Franco told us at the Sundance Film Festival.

"Eat Pray Love" has a tentative release date of Aug. 13 and was directed by "Glee" mastermind Ryan Murphy.

Are you excited to see Julia get existential this summer?

Heart-shaped arrows are flying for Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts, the "Twilight" gang and more in our V-Day sightings.

Roberts, a member of Garry Marshall's authoritative love ensemble for "Valentine's Day," showed her cinematographer hubby Danny Moder full support in Southern California this week. The A-lister turned up to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival to celebrate Moder's new flick "180° South."

In tow with Emile Hirsch, the couple toasted the documentary's subjects Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins, founders of eco-clothing companies Patagonia and the North Face, respectively.

[Updated, 12:30 p.m.: Actress Amy Adams has several Valentines to send this year, to her fiance Darren Le Gallo and the baby they're expecting later this year.

It seems Amy's brother Eddie Adams got the best early Valentine, however. Pregnant sis turned up to party at his Bardot Hollywood birthday celebration Saturday. There for the Lo Hi Fi party, Adams couldn't partake in all the delights, but an onlooker tells me she was up and dancing with pals.]
