Jessica Alba is smokin' -- but this time fish sticks are involved [poll]

Alba-warren In New York for the Tribeca Film Festival, Jessica Alba attempted some home cooking in her hotel room early Tuesday evening, and things went downhill from there, according to the New York Post.

The actress -- preparing a fish-sticks dinner for daughter Honor -- couldn't quite figure out how to work the oven, causing smoke that set off fire alarms and resulted in the appearance of firefighters at the boutique Smyth Hotel.

Battling the usual "where there's smoke, there's fire" assumption, Alba's rep told People on Thursday that, well, there was no fire.

[For the record, 7 p.m. April 30: A previous version of this post referred to Honor as Alba's son. Honor is actually a little girl, thankyouverymuch -- and thanks also to commenter Emily for the catch. Pardon me while I go bang my head against the wall.//cdz]

Jessica Alba, Jesse McCartney bring the Tribeca Film Festival to Hollywood

Jessica alba tribeca Why should New York have all the fun?

The Tribeca Film Festival got a satellite party in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, a departure from the annual run in that trendy New York City neighborhood it's named after.

Filmmakers and other bold names helped American Express toast festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal at the W Hollywood, with cocktails and shop talk at their Station bar. Though co-founder Robert De Niro wasn't present, the Left Coast managed to show Rosenthal a good time.

Jessica Alba popped by in a neon-and-metallic mini, clearly giddy about a night out without the family -- the actress tweeted about partying with some girlfriends.

Also present at the W were "Back to the Future" star Christopher Lloyd and Christina Aguilera's husband, Jordan Bratman (who likely hurried home given his wife's current look).

Pop star Jesse McCartney showed -- a bold move, had he encountered any far-sighted Justin Bieber fans.

'Valentine's Day' premiere: Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Taylor Lautner and more!

Jessica Biel Jennifer Garner

Whether or not you observe Cupid's annual coming-out party, there's no denying the star power at last night's celebration of Garry Marshall's new movie "Valentine's Day."

The huge ensemble cast for the love-centered flick attended the Hollywood premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theater, followed by an intimate bash afterward.

[Click here to launch a red-carpet photo gallery from the "Valentine's Day" premiere!]

Jessica Biel rocked a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta number with flowing petals of pink fabric, though  Justin Timberlake was nowhere to be seen. (Hmm -- she made it back in time after seeing Justin honored as Harvard's Hasty Pudding man of the year last Friday.)

Still, the actress wasn't short on conversation -- she had three girlfriends in tow, and chatted up costar Jennifer Garner.

Also sans her significant other, Mrs. Ben Affleck made the rounds, then headed back home to her daughters, Violet and Serpahina Rose, taking them specialty Crumbs cupcakes to-go.

Not to be outdone by their female counterparts ...
