January Jones' virgin birth: 7 baby-daddy conspiracy theories

January Jones hasn't said who's the father of her baby son Xander

For those of you who cannot go for a single day without reading about a celebrity baby, here's your fix: "Mad Men" costar January Jones has had her infant, the birth certificate has been released — and the document definitely belongs in our very special Department of Mysterious Mysteries!

For, lo! There is no baby daddy cited!

Unlike most celebrities, who cannot wait to sell out their first family photo — you know, the one with with mommy and daddy hovering adoringly like Mary and Joseph on a Mexican prayer candle — Jones has bucked all trends.

She has never named the father of her son. She has not pimped an official photo of little Xander; heck, she hasn’t even issued the usual pap about being "over the moon." If we didn’t know any better, we'd say Jones is almost classy.

She might be classy. But we here at the Ministry of Gossip are not. By omitting the name of her baby daddy, she has given us a fresh reason to sling baseless speculations about who begat this stealthy, stealthy baby.

For the record, it appears that Jones hasn't shagged anybody named Xander in the past year, which makes our gossipmongering all the more difficult. But here are the names that have been bandied about, plus a few extra that haven't been but should be.

1. Jason Sudeikis: The "SNL" star publicly dated Jones from July 2010 to early this year. When a Washington Post reporter requested a comment from him about the Jones pregnancy, he babbled, "I'd rather — yes but no."

2. The Piv: Jones and Jeremy Piven, "Entourage" star, were linked in the tabloids circa January 2010. And, look, here’s a photo of the two of them standing totally near each other.

3. Pete Campbell: Didn't he knock up Peggy Olson on "Mad Men" in, like, a single episode? What's that you say? He's a fictional character on a TV drama? What's your point?

4. Matthew Vaughn: Like Sudeikis, Vaughn reportedly has distanced himself from the Jones pregnancy, which is wise, because the "X-Men: First Class" director is married to a very hot meal ticket named Claudia Schiffer. Then again, the "X" in Xander really isn't doing anything but fanning the gossip flames. And speaking of X ...

5. Jones recently costarred in a movie with a guy named Xander Berkeley. Let the irresponsible tongue-wagging commence.

6. Adrien Brody: He and Jones maybe dated for a minute.

7. Anonymous Donor No. 19450110: According to gossips, a big reason behind the Sudeikis-Jones split was the actress' desire for a baby. And you can buy sperm, you know.

January Jones is coming back to work on AMC's "Mad Men" soon, and she's got the full support of her show when she returns with a new role: motherhood.

Jones delivered a baby boy, Xander Dane, on Sept. 13, which would likely explain her absence from Sunday's Primetime Emmy Awards the night the show was named outstanding drama series yet again

January Jones gave birth to a little boy

January Jones might want to get herself a "Mad Men"-style cigar: She's a new mom, and "It's a Boy."

Xander Dane Jones arrived on Tuesday in Los Angeles, reports People, happy and healthy.

News of her pregnancy came as a surprise earlier this year, and on the heels of a split from "Saturday Night Live" actor Jason Sudeikis.

In April, Jones remained mum about the paternity of the bundle, but a source told the magazine at the time, "She's really looking forward to this new chapter in her life as a single mom."

Jones was nominated for an Emmy in 2010 for outstanding actress in a drama series. Come this awards weekend, we think she's got her own little trophy to tend to. She'll get to root for her Jon Hamm-led AMC drama, however, which is nominated for best drama series.

January Jones finally has a costar in her unapproachable corner

Jared Gilmore, January Jones and John Slattery

Evidence would suggest that January Jones couldn't leave a good impression with a bucket of hot wax, but finally a "Mad Men" costar is speaking up on behalf of her less-than-perfect reputation.

John Slattery has come out in Jones' defense after Jared Gilmore, the third child actor to play Betty Draper's son Bobby, advised his replacement to be careful around his on-screen mom.

The 11-year-old's parting thoughts as he heads off for "Once Upon a Time, his new CBS show? "Be careful around January. She's not as approachable as the others," Jared told TV Guide. "She's really serious about what she does. Everyone else is so nice." The youngster's sentiments have been echoed around Hollywood, with added venom, by the likes of Zach Galifianakis

Slattery, who plays world-weary agency honcho Roger Sterling, downplayed Jared's words, attributing any January chill to the actress' creative process.

"It's an intimidating character," Slattery told E! Online's Marc Malkin on Monday night. "I mean, that's the character. Betty Draper is an intimidating woman I suppose, if you were a 7-year-old boy [or] her son."

Christian Bale employed a similar defense after his notorious 2009 rant on the set of "Terminator: Salvation," claiming his character had a genetic history of madness. "I completely mixed up fact and fiction," Bale said in a radio interview after that profanity-laden debacle.

Slattery had no diva-like behavior to report on from Matthew Weiner's award-winning set.

"No, she's a sweetheart," Slattery said. "We got lucky. We don't have anybody like that."

'X-Men: First Class' premiere: January Jones shows off her baby bump

Januaryjones2Story January Jones showed off her baby bump in style at the "X-Men: First Class" premiere in a black and purple cocktail dress by Preen. Maternity wear never looked so good.

The soon-to-be single mom, who will play hottie and telepathic mutant Emma Frost in the film, stood out among the "X-Men" beauties on the red carpet, including Rose Byrne and Zoe Kravitz, Wednesday night in New York. Noticeably absent was "it" girl Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Mystique.

The superhero movie's leading men James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender joined the lovely ladies at the screening. The duo play younger versions of Professor X (McAvoy) and Magneto (Fassbender) in the "X-Men" prequel, set in the 1960s. Kevin Bacon, who plays the leader of the secret Hellfire Club, and Lucas Till, who portrays a mutant in the movie, rounded out the red carpet. "X-Men: First Class," opening June 3, reveals the origins of "X-Men's" mutant humans, including the friendship and later falling out between Professor X and Magneto and the underlying influence of mutants on global historical events.

January Jones' pregnancy has Jason Sudeikis tongue-tied

January Jones pregnancy has Jason Sudeikis tongue-tied "Saturday Night Live" funnyman Jason Sudeikis isn't normally short on jokes, but he did get a little tongue-tied Saturday when asked about ex-girlfriend January Jones' recently announced pregnancy.

"I'd rather — yes but not," Sudeikis told the Washington Post when asked if he had any comment on her announcement, in which said she looked forward to being a single mother. Sudeikis was in D.C. for the White House correspondents dinner. where President Obama and Seth Meyers provided the entertainment.

Asked if he was surprised to hear that Jones was pregnant, he offered, "No, I — No, I didn't have anything [else to say]."

That's what those in the live sketch-comedy business might call dead air.

January Jones pregnant, looking forward to 'life as a single mom'

January-jones-pregnant January Jones is pregnant, and the baby is due this fall. And that's all she's going to tell anyone for now.

"She's really looking forward to this new chapter in her life as a single mom," the "Mad Men" actress' rep told People early Thursday evening.

There was no word on who the father is; Jones and actor Jason Sudeikis ended their off-and-on relationship in January.

As her baby body develops, Jones will hit the big screen in June as mutant telepath Emma Frost in "X-Men: First Class." "The costumes are insane ..." she told Hero Complex in January. "If you look at the comic book, she's barely dressed. She's got quite the bod, which is very intimidating."

And here we were, asking ourselves, who in the world would bother to publicize any celebrity news in the hours right before the royal wedding -- because wouldn't that news be likely to get lost in the crush?

Guess we got our answer. Just sayin'.

AMC delays 'Mad Men' to 2012; we miss you Don Draper

Jon Hamma as Don Draper in 'Mad Men' -- delayed to 2012 Jon Hamm lovers will have to brace themselves for a dry spell this year now that the fifth season of "Mad Men" has been postponed to 2012.

Continuing contract negotiations between show creator Matthew Weiner and AMC have led to the delay of the 1960s-set drama and the absence of Don Draper in our lives.

"While we are getting a later start than in years past due to ongoing, key noncast negotiations, 'Mad Men' will be back for a fifth season in early 2012," the network said, according to Show Tracker.

A deal hasn't been brokered because the network wants to add more product placement to the product-heavy show, add more commercials by shaving two minutes off the total running time. (Translation: Even less Don Draper in our lives.)

One report said that negotiations could collapse because of AMC's demands. Weiner, who has won several Emmys for the series, is looking for a deal that will allow him to get $15 million a year -- or upwards of $1 million an episode -- putting him among the top-paid showrunners in basic cable. Talk about mad men...

But Weiner insists the delay is unrelated to monetary issues.

How to Survive Life Without 'Mad Men'"I want the fans to know directly from me that I had nothing to do with this delay and it is not about money. I am fighting for the cast and for the show. And I appreciate the kindness and concern of the fans," he told "Mad Men" fan blog Basket of Kisses.

"First of all, the number that's been published is not true. Second of all, I offered to have less money, to save the cast, and to leave the show in the running time that it's supposed to be. The harder that I've fought for the show, the more money that they've offered me."

Tough life, eh?

In the meantime, the show's stars are working on various geek-friendly projects: You can catch Hamm now in Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch" and John Slattery in "The Adjustment Bureau," both currently in theaters. Hamm will also appear (shirtless!) in Judd Apatow's "Bridesmaids" comedy with Kristin Wiig. He's also teaming with indie-filmmaker/girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt to make "Friends with Kids" and will again perform with Westfeldt in April in an L.A. Theatre Works radio theater production of Anton Chekhov's "The Three Sisters."

Christina Hendricks will star in the action flick "Drive" this spring and has just signed on for the film "Seconds of Pleasure" with Brendan Fraser, Julia Stiles, Matt Dillon and Kristen Scott Thomas. January Jones will appear in this summer's highly-anticipated "X-Men: First Class." Elisabeth Moss will star in Walter Salles' adaptation of "On the Road" and is appearing in London in the West End production of "The Children's Hour" alongside Keira Knightley.

And if these alternatives don't strike your retro-drama fancy, click on the gallery above for more alternatives for your "Mad Men"-less summer.

January Jones and Jason Sudeikis no longer a couple

January Jones is single January Jones and Jason Sudeikis are a couple no more, perhaps proving that the power of a karaoke date is no match for the raw pain in the neck that comes from dating over multiple time zones.

"Mad Men" actress Jones and "Saturday Night Live" star Sudeikis — she's based in L.A., he's out of New York — had been dating since summer.

"They've been on and off for a few months, and then the long distance kind of ended it," a source told People, adding that "they could get back together."

But UsMagazine.com found an insider with a different take on things:  "His friends don't understand why he's dating her," said the source. "They call her an airhead behind his back. She doesn't get their jokes. They've only known him to date smart, funny women."

Any bets which story is closer to reality? The Ministry, which has dated over multiple time zones and also has failed to get some jokes, will abstain from voting.
