Jada Pinkett Smith: Rumors she and Will Smith split 'ridiculous'

Jada Pinkett Smith says last summer's reports of a split between her and husband Will Smith are, in a word, "ridiculous."

"Every year, one celebrity couple is under the microscope," Pinkett Smith told told the French-language magazine Gala, as excerpted in translation by People. "This year, unluckily, it's us! I almost want to say that we should have been expecting it."

Yes, they spent a lot of time apart while one or both travel for work, but that's nothing new. And they're certainly not living under separate roofs: "That's ridiculous. We've always lived together," she said.

"These rumors are completely untrue ... our lifestyle hasn't changed," she told the mag. "Before we had the kids, we were already far away from each other quite often because of separate projects."

Will and Jada had gone out of their way in August to rebut InTouch claims that they'd gone their separate ways, saying in a statement at the time, "Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact."

Also part of the scuttlebutt? Talk that Jada was somehow involved with "HawthoRNe" costar Marc Anthony, then recently separated from wife Jennifer Lopez. "We unequivocally deny this," Anthony's rep told People at the time. "Enough is enough. There are families involved, children involved, friendships involved. This is NOT true."

For now, after very public displays of togetherness last August in the days after the rumors bubbled up, Will and Jada are letting time do what time does, she told the French mag.

"Will and I know the truth," she said. "We're waiting peacefully for the storm to blow over."

Justin Bieber's scary guys night with Jaden Smith, Connor Cruise

Justin Bieber took a break from recording his Christmas album and romancing Selena Gomez for a fun-filled guys night Sunday with famous pals Jaden Smith and Tom Cruise's son, Connor. 

Hitting up Universal Studios Hollywood's popular Halloween Horror Nights attraction, Bieber indulged in scares including "Terror Tram: Scream 4 Your Life," where his group evaded a knife-wielding Ghostface killer, as well as mazes based on Eli Roth's "Hostel" films and Rob Zombie's gross-out movies.

Arriving around 7 p.m. and staying until just after midnight, the group received a VIP tour and were "totally scared," one onlooker said.

Ghoulish motifs must be a welcome change for the Biebs, who has been up to his 17-year-old ears in holiday spirit. "Under the Mistletoe," his soon-to-be-released Christmas record, features collaborations with the likes of his mentor Usher.

In fact, Usher and Bieber released their take on "The Christmas Song" on Monday. 

"This record is going to be remembered for years to come," Usher said on a call to Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show. "It's a record that has always been one of my favorites, and I'm happy that I was able to share it with Justin, and for us to put it out."

Jada Pinkett Smith, Marc Anthony see 'HawthoRNe' get the ax

Get a crash cart for Jada Pinkett Smith and Marc Anthony: Their TNT series "HawthoRNe" has flat-lined.

The network on Friday confirmed cancellation of the hospital-based drama, which in the most recent season added Anthony's detective character as a love interest to Pinkett Smith's Christina Hawthorne, R.N. The series also featured "Monster In Law" actor Michael Vartan, as well as Suleka Mathew and Hannah Hodson.

"TNT has decided not to order a fourth season of 'HawthoRNe,' " the network said in a statement.

"HawthoRNe" was one of several series, including Kyra Sedgwick's "The Closer," that established the network's reputation for featuring strong female characters. 

Since Jada Pinkett Smith's marriage is fine and dandy, according to her and husband Will Smith, she'll have some extra time on her hands to bask in wedded bliss. Not so much for Anthony, who recently ended his marriage to Jennifer Lopez.

Will and Jada make a public display of Team Smith solidarity

Call it "Will and Jada, the Morning After": Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were photographed together Wednesday, smiling and laughing over brunch the morning after shutting down a tabloid report that they were separating.

Sans kids, the couple hit Bob Morris' Paradise Cove Beach Cafe for omelets, coffee and paparazzi pictures, said TMZ, which shortly after brunch just happened to catch Will and Jada together a few miles down Pacific Coast Highway, shopping, smiling, holding hands and posing with fans.

"They were laughing and being cutesy — they seemed to be getting along just fine," an onlooker told People.

Will and Jada had branded a report that they'd separated as "completely false." "We are still together, and our marriage is intact," they said Tuesday in a joint statement.

In Touch continued to fan the fire Wednesday, putting more online from its print-edition report. Chief among the allegations, which were all attributed to an "insider": Will worried that Jada and her "HawthoRNe" costar Marc Anthony had grown "uncomfortably close" and surprised the two together in early August when he showed up unannounced to confront his wife about it. The mag also said that Will and Jada have been living in separate homes.

On Tuesday, reps for Marc Anthony and Jada Smith had denied rumors linking their clients.

Meanwhile, the Ministry was wondering just what it would take to get anyone to go up against Will Smith and Jennifer Lopez at the same time.

Will Smith-Jada Pinkett Smith separation report denied [Updated]

A report that Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have separated after almost 14 years of marriage was met Tuesday by a declaration from Trey Smith, Will's son from his first marriage.

"Did #WillandJada split? No they did NOT split ! False information," Trey said on Twitter, repeating that sentiment several times over the course of the morning and asking his followers to retweet the information.

InTouch magazine, citing an unnamed "insider," reported the alleged separation online Tuesday and teased to its print edition for more information.

[Updated, 1:45 p.m. Aug. 23: "Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false," the Smiths said Tuesday in a joint statement. "We are still together, and our marriage is intact." The statement was released shortly after this post was written.]

Us Weekly cited an "insider" alleging word of the split between Will, 42, and Jada, 39, to be "total" bull. Radar Online had an unidentified family member describing the couple as "totally together" and another source from Will's production company saying, "All is good in their relationship."

While the Ministry had queries out to the Smiths' reps, who by midday Tuesday had not commented on the reports, TMZ appeared to have woken up Jada's rep Karynne Tencer, getting the reply, "What? In Touch said that? I know nothing about this ... Lord. I'm going back to bed."

A rep for Marc Anthony, recently separated from Jennifer Lopez and also Jada's "HawthoRNe" costar, "unequivocally" denied to People any rumors linking Anthony and Smith — yes, those are out there too —  adding, "Enough is enough. There are families involved, children involved, friendships involved. This is NOT true."

Tencer also denied the Anthony-Smith rumors to People.

Rumors are certainly nothing new around Smith Central, which of course is home to famous kids Willow and Jaden Smith, she with the much-whipped hair and he of "Karate Kid" and Friend of Bieber fame.

"I've heard all the things — their marriage is not real, he's gay, she's gay, they swing," Jada Pinkett Smith said on an Atlanta radio show in 2009.

"But at the end of the day, people have to believe what they have to believe. I'll tell you what, it's too hard to be in a pretend marriage. Life's too short for that one."
