Halle Berry, Olivier Martinez really are engaged, he confirms

Halle Berry may have said a few years back that she would never marry again, but it seems girlfriend wasn't exactly telling the truth -- she is in fact engaged to marry French actor Olivier Martinez, he confirmed over the weekend.

"Yes, of course it’s true," Martinez told Miami.com, clearing up rumors Saturday while promoting his new South Beach restaurant, Villa Azur.

A rep for jeweler Gurhan was saying back in January that the emerald on Berry's ring finger was an engagement ring, and that claim had Martinez a bit miffed -- because the opulent trinket was actually designed by Robert Maslo of Paris, whose family has been making jewelry for "kings and queens for many centuries," he told the website.

In Gurhan's defense, a rep said later that the company couldn't be sure Berry was wearing its design. Guess we know the answer to that question now.

And here's the kind of thing you hear only from the real deal: “The ring is textured and contains codes and symbols which you cannot see ... only the person wearing it can," the jeweler told People exclusively of the emerald and gold bauble, which also has two diamonds. "It's very uncommon. The symbols and codes represent [the couple's] story and only they can interpret it."

Maslo said he didn't realize he was crafting an engagement ring when Martinez approached him last year with the project. Berry and Martinez first stepped out publicly as a couple in October 2010. This will be Berry's third marriage.

Halle Berry pulled into Gabriel Aubry investigation

Halle Berry has been pulled into the mess that's been bubbling recently between her ex, Gabriel Aubry, and Alliance Kamdem, a nanny who last week alleged battery by Aubry.

The male model allegedly pushed Kamdem into a door while Nahla, Berry and Aubry's 3-year-old daughter, was in her arms, according to a police report obtained by TMZ. Aubry and the nanny had quarreled that day, Jan. 18, over Nahla missing school, the report said.

A judge on Tuesday rejected Kamdem's request for a restraining order. Before the alleged incident, she was required by court order to be at each parent's house -- depending on who had custody at the time -- from 12:30 p.m. until Nahla is put to bed, On the Red Carpet said. The judge, who hasn't been the regular judge in the case, decided Tuesday to leave the orders in place until the regular judge can revisit the situation Monday.

Berry was visited by reps from the Department of Child and Family Services on Wednesday, TMZ reported; interviews of both parents are done routinely when abuse or neglect is being investigated. Aubry is reportedly being investigated for misdemeanor battery and child endangerment.

Custody of Nahla has been a matter of contention between the two since they split in April 2010. Berry, who has famously said she'll never marry again, recently received an emerald-and-diamond ring from beau Olivier Martinez -- whatever that means.

So about Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez getting engaged -- the story's not quite that simple.

It was reported Wednesday that Berry, who'd been spotted wearing an emerald-and-diamond bauble on her left-hand ring finger after swearing years ago she'd never again wed, got engaged to her "Dark Tide" costar over the holidays. A rep for jeweler Gurhan then told People mm hmm, it's an engagement ring.

Cut to Thursday and "sources close to the couple" were telling TMZ that although the ring was a gift from him to her, and although the relationship was a "committed" one, and although marriage hadn't been ruled out, that rock was not indicative of an engagement.

Turn the page to Friday and a rep for the jeweler is buzzing People with the word that, hey, we can't even say for sure the ring is a Gurhan design.

So maybe Berry was for real in 2004 when she told Oprah Winfrey, "I will never marry again. I mean it with every bone in my body."

Now who's going to break it to Martinez's ex, Kylie Minogue?

Halle Berry is reportedly engaged to French actor Olivier Martinez, whom she met while filming the movie "Dark Tide," a thriller slated for release this year.

The engagement took place over the holidays, a source told Us Weekly, which broke the news, and involved a diamond and emerald ring, according to a rep for jewelry designer Gurhan, speaking to People.

Berry, 45, and Martinez, 46, met during "Dark Tide" production in mid-2010, shortly after Berry's breakup with Gabriel Aubry, and went public as a couple in October of that year. Berry has a 3-year-old daughter, Nahla, from her relationship with Aubry.

It will be a third marriage for Berry, who was previously wed to baseball player David Justice and then R&B singer Eric Benet. She's been unmarried since the divorce from Benet was finalized in 2005, though she dated Aubry for five years. The two wrestled over custody of Nahla, with Aubry finally getting less time with his daughter than he sought.

[For the record, 2 p.m. Jan. 11: An earlier version of this post incorrectly said Halle Berry was married first to Eric Benet and then to David Justice. It was the other way around. The post also incorrectly said Berry divorced Justice in 2005. That was the year she divorced Benet.]

Halle Berry stalker suspect arrested after third alleged trespass in three days

A man accused of stalking Halle Berry was arrested outside her West Hollywood home late Monday night after allegedly scaling a concrete fence to access the property for the third time in three days.

Richard A. Franco of Los Angeles was arrested on suspicion of felony stalking, according to L.A. Now. Law enforcement sources said Franco was cooperative after being confronted by security guards, who then called police. The incident was reportedly caught on security cameras.

Los Angeles police had been to Berry's home on Saturday and Sunday taking reports regarding of an unidentified man who had climbing over the property's concrete wall, being spotted at one point by the Oscar-winning actress through her kitchen window.

Franco served time last month for battery and has a criminal record that includes felony car theft, felony vandalism, drug-use offenses and several offenses as a juvenile, TMZ reported.

His bail was set at $150,000. The unemployed, self-described community college student is 27, according to arrest records.

Berry got a three-year restraining order in 2005 against another man, Robert Sawyer, after he allegedly sent her threatening letters.

Halle Berry: Trespasser rings twice at her West Hollywood home

Halle Berry may have noted the royal visit this past weekend, but she was busy both days with an uninvited guest of her own: a trespasser.

An unidentifed intruder trespassed twice at the Oscar winner's West Hollywood home, reportedly gaining access to the property by scaling an outer fence.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, a staffer spotted the man in the yard and confronted him. The man allegedly pretended to be looking for someone, then scaled a back wall to escape the confrontation.

A presumably shaken Berry went on about her business, until the intruder came again — at roughly the same time Sunday.

Berry was in her kitchen when she peered out of a window to find a man staring back at her, law enforcement sources told TMZ. A book of some kind was in his hand, leading investigators to believe the man was an autograph seeker or perhaps an extremely aggressive paparazzo. 

Police visited the house and took reports on both days. Surveillance video or a sketch could be released to aid in identifying the guy.

Oprah Winfrey's long goodbye: Maria Shriver, Tom Cruise, Tyler Perry and more pay homage [Pictures]

For Oprah Winfrey, the beginning of the end was announcing in November 2009 that her long-running "The Oprah Winfrey Show" would be calling it quits after 25 years on the air. Following a supersized final season and trickling, teary-celeb tributes, the end is almost here.

Taping "Oprah's Surprise Spectacular," her third-to-last show in Chicago, Winfrey hosted tons of famous names who came to pay homage to the queen of daytime television. 

Maria Shriver, Madonna, Tyler Perry, Usher and famous couch-jumper Tom Cruise all graced the stage in front of thousands of fans at Chi-town's United Center. It was an event worth getting out of jury duty to witness.

"You have given me love, support, wisdom and, most of all, the truth," Shriver told Winfrey. "And I know I’m not alone in receiving those gifts from you."

A rather fitting performance came from Beyonce, clad in a tuxedo unitard, belting out her new tune "Run the World (Girls)." Atop a glowing podium fit for a female president, Beyonce flipped her hair and sang out, "My persuasion can build a nation."

Oprah can relate. Another female music tribute came from pint-sized Broadway vet Kristin Chenoweth, who performed with scores of formally dressed Morehouse College grads. 

Power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith came by, as did Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Katie Holmes, Queen Latifah,  Diane Sawyer and Michael Jordan (click the pics to see more photos from the star-studded event).

We were surprised and delighted to see Winfrey's longtime beau Stedman Graham trot out on stage; we imagine he has an insight or two after so many years with the mogul. 

So might Maya Angelou, who appeared with Alicia Keys. As did Dakota Fanning, Jerry Seinfeld, Jamie Foxx, Rosie O'Donnell and John Legend via satellite. 

Other performers included Patti LaBelle, featuring Josh Groban, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin.

Jennifer Lopez tops People magazine's 2011 Most Beautiful list

Jennifer Lopez has made it to the top of People magazine's Most Beautiful list.

The New York-born "American Idol" judge beat out the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Halle Berry, Jennifer Garner and Eva Longoria.

"Rarely am I left speechless, but I feel honored," the 41-year-old singer told the magazine.

Jenny from the Block, whose current single "On the Floor" is No. 8 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart this week, is married to singer Marc Anthony and has twins with him. Her upcoming album titled "Love?" will be out in May. And, lest we forget, Lopez recently debuted a reworking of the classic "Venus" song in Gilette razor commercials and has attained the unique title of "Venus Global Ambassador."

"I don't want anybody thinking it's easy. It does take time and it's hard work. HDTV wide-screen is nobody's friend!" Lopez, she of the perfect posterior, said of her beauty regimen.

Other women who made People's list: singer Jessica Simpson, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, "Tangled" star Mandy Moore, "Desperate Housewives' " Dana Delany, Mrs. Tom Cruise Katie Holmes and "The Office's" Mindy Kalig and Ellie Kemper.

On the men's side, Zac Efron took top honors. The 23-year-old "High School Musical" alum took first place thanks to his abs, pecs and chest.

"I think it's important to remember to live in the moment and enjoy every day to the fullest," Efron told the magazine.

Efron, who also topped last year's list, is set to appear in Garry Marshall's star-studded "New Year's Eve."

Behind him were "Twilight" hottie Kellan Lutz and newly single Ryan Reynolds, People's sexiest man alive.

This year's Most Beautiful issue hits newsstands Friday.

Halle Berry laughs at her man troubles, flirts with Muhammad Ali

Halle Berry hasn't lost her sense of humor throughout her various trials with men -- like an ugly split from Eric Benet in 2005, and an uglier custody battle with recent ex Gabriel Aubrey over daughter Nahla. 

As an honoree at this year's Muhammad Ali Celebrity Fight Night XVII in Phoenix, Berry cracked some jokes about her choices when it comes to love.

"If I would've just married Muhammad, I wouldn't have had any of these man problems I've had," she told a crowd including Billy Crystal, Bret Michaels, Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson, winking at the legendary Ali as she clutched her prize and adding, "Stupid girl." 

Berry did wax philosophical about "the champ," saying he helped a fatherless young girl of color such as herself gain pride in her identity.

"Muhammad was someone that I always looked to and held as an image and a model of a man that I hoped one day to find. And I'm still looking for that guy," she said.

We're not sure where that puts Olivier Martinez, her current beau and "Dark Tide" costar. The two seem pretty secure (though Martinez wasn't present), but here's to Berry finding her own special Thrilla in Manila.

'21st Century Girl' Willow Smith wins new-artist NAACP Image Award [Music video]

 

Willow Smith is the kind of chick who knocks you off your feet, or so she says in her "21st Century Girl" music video that dropped Friday. And it's hard to argue with that logic.

On a night when Tyler Perry ruled the roost, the kid won an NAACP Image Award for outstanding new artist (beating Nicky Minaj and Bruno Mars, among others), is set to star in a remake of "Annie" and has a recording career clicking along, all at the tender age of 10.

She was in the company Friday night of fellow winners Usher, Mary J. Blige and John Legend and the Roots, to name a few, though Alicia Keys' "Un-thinkable (I'm Ready)" beat Willow's "Whip My Hair" for outstanding video.

Some more 2011 Image Award film winners of note: Halle Berry won for her "Frankie & Alice" performance, and the movie won for indie film. Denzel Washington was recognized for his turn in "The Book of Eli" -- besting Willow's brother Jaden Smith, who'd been nominated for "The Karate Kid."

Perry's "For Colored Girls" was named best film, and Perry also won the Chairman's Award in honor of his journey from difficult beginnings to a spot on Hollywood's A-list.

In the television group, "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" won for outstanding comedy series, with comedy lead-acting honors going to Vanessa Williams for "Desperate Housewives" and David Mann for "Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns."
