Warner Bros. TV stars gather to celebrate Paley Center exhibit

Television: Out of the Box

Joshua Jackson, Patricia Heaton, James Lafferty, Frenchie Davis, Ben McKenzie, Michael Richards: What do they all have in common? They’re all stars of hit Warner Bros.-produced TV shows, and they were all at the Paley Center for Media on Thursday night.

Executives and cast members from more than 30 past and present TV shows gathered at the Beverly Hills museum to celebrate  "Television: Out of the Box," a new exhibition featuring props and costumes from Warner Bros. shows.

Walking a multi-colored carpet resembling TV color bars, the stars talked to reporters before passing a gathering of fans at the end of the press line. Teenage girls in the crowd were fanning themselves after meeting "The Vampire Diaries" star Paul Wesley. But many of the biggest TV fans at the event were the guests of honor themselves, including "The Big Bang Theory" actress Melissa Rauch.

"When I started on the carpet, I saw a 'Family Matters' cast member, and I have to say, I shouted out 'Eddie Winslow!' like a junior high fan girl from the 1990s,” Rauch told Ministry of Gossip at the event.

Rauch, who plays Bernadette on "The Big Bang Theory," was eager to see items in the exhibit from "Friends," "Gilmore Girls" and "Wonder Woman." She was also pleased to hear that a memorable prop from her sitcom made it into the show’s display: the giant portrait Amy gave to Penny (depicting the faces of their real-life counterparts, Mayim Bialik and Kaley Cuoco) earlier this season.

"The three of us –- Kaley, myself and Mayim –- they unveiled it to us at the same time. We could not stop laughing," Rauch said of first seeing the painting on set. "We all wanted copies for our home, so I’m happy it ended up here so we don’t have to do a tug of war over it."

"Southland" actor Dorian Missick said visiting the exhibition was "kind of a throwback to my early days as an actor in the '80s," when he frequently visited the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City.

"I’m excited about [this exhibition] because I'm a fan. I still look at the shows as a fan. I watch our show as a fan," Missick said.

McKenzie, whose shows "The O.C." and "Southland" are represented, looked forward to seeing the display from "The Dukes of Hazzard."

"The Mentalist" actress Amanda Righetti said, "I grew up watching the Looney Tunes. I know it sounds really silly, but I'm really curious to see some of the animation work.” A section devoted to WB cartoons features original animation art.

Items from shows including "Gossip Girl," "ER," "Full House," "Entourage" and "Supernatural" are also on display. As for props that didn't make it up front, fans should rest assured that the Paley Center has plans to routinely rotate in new items from Warner Bros.’ collection.

But of course, there are props that now live in the homes of various actors –- Lafferty told Ministry of Gossip that he has a few Ravens basketball jerseys from "One Tree Hill" mounted on his wall, and Richards said he took home Kramer's shoes from "Seinfeld."

A long timeline now covers one Paley Center wall, tracking the history of Warner Bros.' TV shows. Knowing that "One Tree Hill" has a place there and in WB history, Lafferty said, "there’s a sense of pride that comes with that. … It’s one of those things that you always hope to be a part of."

Michelle Trachtenberg was almost Bella Swan, she says

Michelle Trachtenberg almost played Bella Swan. According to Michelle Trachtenberg.

Television actress Michelle Trachtenberg says she was almost in the driver's seat of Bella Swan's "Twilight" pickup truck -- alleging that she was tapped to play Kristen Stewart's star-making role in the vampire franchise.

"I've known [director] Catherine Hardwicke since the movie 'Thirteen,' " she told Us Weekly. "I was actually supposed to star in that ["Thirteen], but I was on 'Buffy' at the time."

Trachtenberg cites scheduling conflicts as the reason she didn't get to lurk with Robert Pattinson in the first "Twilight Saga" film, helmed by Hardwicke. But don't worry about Michelle: She's fine with sitting out the billion-dollar franchise.

"I already have 'Buffy,'" she said. "I've already done the vampire thing."

Thank heavens! Not only do we find it graceless when actors cast themselves, it's worse to peck over the almost-were roles. Not only does it detract from the actor who, you know, won the role, but it's seriously unprofessional.

Trachtenberg's hubristic "Twilight" reveal is akin to saying she passed on "Salt" after her satisyfying experience on "Harriet the Spy."

We're perfectly happy with Kristen's take on Bella, and as for Michelle -- give her and the gang our best over at "Gossip Girl."

Rocker chick Taylor Momsen has 'quit acting,' she reminds us all

Taylor Momsen fronts the Pretty Reckless

It's not so much that acting has quit Taylor Momsen -- rather, Taylor Momsen has quit acting, the 18-year-old made clear in a recent backstage interview in Tokyo.

Momsen's relationship with "Gossip Girl" ended in May, when she and Jessica Szhor were not renewed as series regulars. At that point, Momsen had already made it clear that her band, the Pretty Reckless, was taking center stage in her life.

"I quit acting, actually," the not-an-actress told Elle magazine on Saturday in Japan, in case anyone had forgotten. "I quit 'Gossip Girl' and now tour and am in a band and that's pretty much all I want to do.

"Hopefully I'll be able to only do that for the rest of my life."

Convenient, then, that Momsen also was replaced by Kelly Osbourne in January as the face of the Material Girl clothing line by Lourdes Ciccone and birthday girl Madonna.

The music-is-my-life thing is consistent with what Momsen was saying in April on the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards red carpet, before the whole "Gossip Girl" thing ended. "I've been writing songs since I was 5 years old," she told the Ministry, "so that's what I want to do with my life is make records and tour until I'm dead."

Momsen, whose acting credits include "Gossip Girl" and playing Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 Jim Carrey version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," was nominated for a breakout female star Teen Choice Award in 2008.

The award went to Blake Lively, also of "Gossip Girl," whose acting resume includes roles in "The Town," "Green Lantern" and "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants."

'Gossip Girl': Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szohr out; Kaylee DeFer in

Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szohr leaving 'Gossip Girl' "Gossip Girl" actresses Taylor Momsen and Jessica Szohr -- the two bad girls from the wrong side of Manhattan -- are leaving the CW show.

Despite the show's renewal for a fifth season, Momsen, 17, who plays social climber Jenny Humphrey, and Szohr, 26, who plays film chick Vanessa Abrams, have not been signed back on as series regulars, according to Show Tracker.

We're not really sad to see them go, thanks to  story lines that had Momsen and Szohr leaving town after being on the outs with the main characters for doing some truly loathsome scheming. We are also glad to bid adieu to their zany outfits.

Show Tracker: 'Gossip Girl' recaps

Momsen had already been demoted from series regular in 2010, and Szohr's Vanessa recently revealed that she'd be leaving the Upper East Side to study abroad. However, they could make a few guest appearances in the upcoming season.

But don't fret, "Gossip Girl" fans: Kaylee DeFer, who plays Serena Van der Woodsen's cousin Charlie, is being added as a series regular, the Wall Street Journal said. We can only imagine, having already weaseled Dan away from Serena and essentially vanquished Vanessa, that she'll be taking on the resident-villain role.

Kaylee DeFer joins 'Gossip Girl' as series regular Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick and Chace Crawford will all be returning for the next season. Maybe they'll finally figure out the identity of Kristen Bell's omniscient narrator? Here's hoping.

As for Momsen, who's made it clear that her music career is her focus, she will still be jamming with her girl rock band the Pretty Reckless.

Szohr seems to be shifting her focus to movies and will be working the romantic-comedy circuit this summer. She'll hit the big screen in June with Kellan Lutz and Mandy Moore in "Love, Wedding, Marriage," and in September she'll appear in "I Don't Know How She Does It" with Sarah Jessica Parker, Greg Kinnear, Pierce Brosnan, Olivia Munn, Christina Hendricks and Seth Meyers.

Not a bad upgrade, yes?

Is it too soon or about time that Momsen and Szohr take off? And what about DeFer -- is she already giving you the creeps too? Tell us in comments.

Chace Crawford strikes a deal in Texas marijuana arrest

Chace Crawford cuts a deal on Texas weed arrest Chace Crawford scored a pot deal Friday, but it didn't involve a drug dealer or bag of weed. Instead, the "Gossip Girl" star cut a deal to pay for his marijuana possession arrest with probation and community service.

Crawford, who was busted in Plano, Texas, last summer for having a joint in his car, opted for a pretrial diversion program. If he stays out of trouble he could emerge from the ordeal without a record, TMZ reports.

Here's how it works: If the star, 25, performs 24 hours of community service, reports to a probation officer monthly and obeys the law (no arrests) the charges will drop off.

Crawford, who shot to fame as Nate Archibald on CW's "Gossip Girl" and saw his sister Candice Crawford get engaged to the Dallas Cowboys' Tony Romo in December, will likely perform the community service this summer, according to TMZ.

Kids' Choice Awards: Taylor Momsen tries out 'appropriate' outfit for tween show [Video]

It was just last year that Taylor Momsen was busy playing one of the prominent characters on "Gossip Girl" -- until the actress decided to take a hiatus from the show to concentrate on her music career.

But being taken seriously as a musician after playing little Jenny Humphrey has been a challenge, Momsen admitted.

"It's still something I'm overcoming -- getting people to just give the record a chance and not write it off," she said on the orange carpet at the Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday. "Because it really is something I Kids Choice Awards have been working on my whole life. I've been writing songs since I was 5 years old, so that's what I want to do with my life is make records and tour until I'm dead."

Momsen's new record will be released later this month, and then she'll embark on a tour for the next year -- where we're sure she'll be sporting plenty of her infamously racy outfits. But for the Nickelodeon show, anyway, she toned it down.

"I figured I'd be appropriate," she said of her relatively demure get-up. Still, she was decked out with her usual mass of black eye makeup. Just how much eyeliner does she go through, we asked?

"I actually don't use much eyeliner. I use black eyeshadow, so not too much [eyeliner], honestly," she smiled.

Keith Richards' daughter Theodora charged in NYC for minor drug possession, tagging

Theodora Richard
, daughter of Rolling Stones bad boy Keith Richards and model Patti Hansen, was arraigned Tuesday after being arrested on suspicion of drug possession and allegedly using a graffiti marker to paint on the side of a New York City building.

The 25-year-old, who has modeled for Burberry, Tommy Hilfiger and French Connection, was Theodora Richards spotted by police around 10:45 p.m. while allegedly writing "T [heart] A" on a building that houses a convent in an upscale part of SoHo, where she lives.

"I hope I don't get in trouble for this," she said to an officer, according to the Associated Press.

In addition to the paint marker and a small amount of marijuana, police said Richards was carrying narcotic pain relief pills that she did not have a prescription for.

She did not enter a plea at the arraignment and was released without bail. She is set to appear in court again April 21.

Her attorney Stacey Richman described Richards as "a polite, lovely woman."

Does this sound like a bad episode of "Gossip Girl" to anyone else?

Blake Lively named 2011's 'most desirable woman'

Blake Lively is Askmen's Most Desirable Woman Oh, to be Blake Lively, who's at the top of Askmen.com's list of the 99 most desirable women.

"Gossip Girl's" curvaceous blond bombshell is rocking the list at No. 1, jumping from the No. 85 position last year. And what's not to desire?

The 23-year-old SoCal native, who plays New York "it" girl Serena Van Der Woodsen on the CW show, got her big-screen break as a flirty soccer player in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and showed her range by playing opposite of type in Ben Affleck's "The Town," surprising many critics.

Her beauty mark could also give Cindy Crawford a run for her money.

On the slate for Lively this summer is "The Green Lantern," one of the many comic-book-inspired flicks of 2011. She'll be playing Carol Ferris to Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan. Be still, fanboy hearts!

Lively's runners up: "Black Swan" star Mila Kunis came in at No. 2 and "Modern Family" firecracker Sofia Vergara finished third, beating out Scarlett Johansson, Kim Kardashian and a slew of supermodels.

See the whole list at Askmen.com.

Poor, poor Penn Badgley. Wish you two didn't call it quits now, dontcha?

Taylor Momsen 'Gossip Girl' departure rumors may be a lot of drama

Taylor momsen jenny gossip girl Poor Little J. Our sources say that Taylor Momsen, who plays the banished ladder climber, "will begin an indefinite hiatus following next Monday's episode."

Is it because of Momsen's supposedly diva-like behavior? Is she spending too much time in the makeup chair getting her eye makeup reapplied and throwing filming off-schedule?

Although the CW and producer Warner Bros. aren't commenting, sources close to the show remind us that Momsen is under contract for this season. If she doesn't appear in an episode, it's because Jenny Humphrey's a victim of story lines and simply doesn't have much to do right now.

Which is fittingly convenient, if not totally true. After all, Jenny just outed Blair and Chuck's (re)union and may have gotten Serena is some serious "Single White Female"-level trouble — not to mention she used her own brother as a pawn. Wouldn't you hide in Hudson?

Guess we'll have to check in Monday to see how this pans out. XOXO.

Madonna sued over Material Girl clothing line for Macy's

Taylor-momsen-material-girl Madonna may have branded herself as a material girl in the 1980s, but she may not have been the first to put the "Material Girl" brand name on clothing -- that last bit according to a lawsuit filed Thursday by apparel manufacturer L.A. Triumph Inc., which says it's been selling millions of bucks worth of Material Girl clothing since, oh, 1997.

That'd be the year after Madge's daughter and clothing collaborator Lourdes Ciccone was born.

The lawsuit states that those millions have been earned at a similar price point, selling out of similar stores, Reuters reports -- to put it in Madonna terminology, this used to be their playground.

The clothing line, a partnership with Macy's, was announced in June and launched in stores this month, with "Gossip Girl" star Taylor Momsen stepping out as the face of the tween collection.
