Eva Longoria: No, I'm not breathing -- it's a Victoria Beckham

Eva Longoria poked fun at her pal Victoria Beckham, joking that she couldn't breathe in the designer's form-fitting dressEva Longoria is such a committed friend, she'll apparently go to great lengths to support her pals. By suffocating herself, for instance.

The "Desperate Housewives" star attended the Hollywood Style Awards on Sunday to present a trophy to photographer Randall Slavin, and made a crack about rocking one of her chum Victoria Beckham's high-end dresses.

After teetering down a runway to the stage's lectern, Longoria needed a moment to catch her breath.

"I can't breathe in this dress. It's Victoria Beckham, so it's a negative-4," she said of the size, getting chuckles from a crowd that included newly single Zoe Saldana, Khloe Kardashian, stylist Elizabeth Stewart and Madonna's "W.E." leading lady, Andrea Riseborough.

All in good fun, we're sure, as Beckham and Eduardo Cruz's current squeeze go way back. The gals recently had a catch-up session at one of David Beckham's soccer matches, where Eva was spotted cuddling Victoria's new daughter, Harper Seven.

Eva Longoria, Judd Apatow do a fundraising dinner with Obama

Inside Obama's most recent, Hollywood-heavy fundraiser

President Obama swung through Los Angeles on Monday, and though his visits inspire groans over traffic jams, he did manage to lure a few showbiz heavyweights out of the house.

A fundraising dinner was held at West Hollywood's Fig & Olive in the president's honor, fetching $35,000 for two seats. Price of admission included some words from First Lady Michelle Obama's husband, an introduction from Jeffrey Katzenberg and a lovely "Desperate" housewife.

Eva Longoria indeed came to dine, as did funnyman Jack Black, Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman, music man Quincy Jones and California Gov. Jerry Brown.

"He inherited a crashing economy and two wars .... Yet he kept us moving forward," Katzenberg said in his opening remarks, according to a guest.

"We must keep fighting for him so he can keep fighting for us," he added.

Details on the menu and wine were not released, but Fig & Olive boasts a primarily Mediterranean menu. For you foodies: Chef Pascal Lorange served all dishes with olive oil in place of butter and cream.

A far cry from that Chicago pizza, eh POTUS?

Eva Longoria and Demi Moore attend Variety's 3rd Power of Women luncheon

Though it feels as if the Ministry just retired yet another year's Emmy Awards tuxedo, the party train kept chugging along last weekend -- with nary an award-show hangover in sight.

On Friday afternoon, charitable femmes were saluted at Variety's Power of Women event, held at the Four Seasons' Beverly Wilshire.

Eva Longoria, Annette Bening, Mary J. Blige, Lea Michele, Olivia Wilde and DreamWorks honcho Stacey Snider were honored by the trade paper and Lifetime TV for their work with charitable foundations with the likes of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and Artists for Peace & Justice.

Longoria, in a red day dress, caught up with Demi Moore while "Dancing With the Stars" contestants Ricki Lake and Nancy Grace worked the crowd.

Bening's husband Warren Beatty showed, as did Hugh Jackman to support Snider on behalf of their upcoming flick "Real Steel." A mini "The Help" reunion went down as Octavia Spencer and Allison Janney crossed paths, and Loretta Devine and Jennifer Love Hewitt were spotted as well.

That evening, Macy's Passport celebrated its annual Glamorama event. The longtime AIDS cause, which counted Elizabeth Taylor as a founding chair, this year saw a touching tribute to the late star by Sharon Stone.

Stone, fittingly sporting a serious diamond necklace, spoke of how strange it was not to have Taylor at the event after so many years. Two of the film legend's grandchildren said a few words of gratitude before a tribute reel was played.

Afterward, electro-hop quartet Far East Movement helped along a fashion show featuring looks from Calvin Klein, Rachel Roy and Papi. The show was capped with a three-song set by Cee-Lo Green.

Over in Hollywood, an underage crowd celebrated being just that -- underage -- on the Paramount lot.

'Desperate Housewives' cast reflects on leaving Wisteria Lane

The "Desperate Housewives" reflect on the show ending

The women of "Desperate Housewives" are packing up their Wisteria Lane pads, after the world learned last week that this season of the show, its eighth, will also be its last.

Several of the women attended a Television Critics Assn. press tour after-party at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday -- touching on the moment when creator Marc Cherry broke the news, and what the fallout will bring for their careers.

"I think we probably could have gone to nine," Felicity Huffman told the Hollywood Reporter, "but I think it was too much of a risk to take and they really value Marc and the show."

As the outspoken Lynette Scavo, Huffman has enjoyed acclaim including Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy Award win in 2005.

"You go into acting jail at the end of these things because it’s hard for anyone to see you as anything other than Lynette Scavo or whatever it is," she said. "So I think it’s unwise to look at the carnage around you of past television actresses and go, 'Well, it’s not going to happen to me.'"

Marcia Cross said her manager informed her that her dance card would be free at the end of the current season, in production. She's hoping that her many love interests over the seasons will return for a final farewell.

"Desperate" also boasts leads in Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria and Vanessa Williams.

Victoria Beckham gets perfect pink baby shower with Eva Longoria, Nicole Richie

Victoria Beckham and pals make toilet paper dresses Victoria Beckham had a lovely little baby shower in celebration of her first little girl, with famous female friends Eva Longoria, Nicole Richie and Selma Blair.

On Saturday, friends of the fashion mogul and former Spice Girl gathered at West Hollywood's Le Petit Ermitage Hotel -- decked out with pink table cloths and pink blossoms atop round tables with white umbrellas, according to People magazine.

Victoria Beckham is expecting a baby girl At the rooftop Butterfly Bar, the intimate group enjoyed an English tea-party theme, complete with princess cake with marzipan.

An excited Beckham tweeted she was having "so much fun" playing the bridal-shower standard party games -- led by Blair, who is also expecting -- in which guests had to design a dress out of toilet paper.

Beckham also tweeted a shot of the TP couture, above right. Victoria already has three boys in her brood -- Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz -- with husband David Beckham.

Brooklyn was riding in dad's Cadillac on Friday when the soccer star rear-ended a car that was broken down in the carpool lane of the 405 Freeway. The other driver was taken to a hospital as a precaution for neck pain, according to the Fabulous Forum, but David Beckham was not cited.

'Desperate Housewives' contract drama almost over; payday looms

Desperate Housewives cast in final negotiations for seasons 8 and 9 It would seem the principal cast of "Desperate Housewives" -- Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman -- will have no problem paying their mortgages on Wisteria Lane.

Locked in contract negotiations since January, the actresses and network ABC have delayed the announcement of an eighth season for the prime-time soap. But they've cleared the way for a renewal, TV Line reports.

Both sides have reportedly agreed on handsome per-episode rates for the ladies for Season 8, with an option to extend for a ninth season.

Each of the women will earn up to $375,000 per episode, a figure padded with back-end cash and bonuses, TV Line reports.

The report also noted that Hatcher brokered her deal separately from the other three stars, consistent with the history of the show.
